70 Replies to “Broken Trust – The High River Gun Grab”

  1. Actually if you had been in town on the 20th of June you would know the RCMP was not saving lives – they were blocking streets. Regular people with trucks, local businesses using combines, town employees with backhoes were the ones saving lives. On June 21 RCMP did some of the rescuing but many more were firefighters who volunteered from around High River. I know because I was rescued, my family members were rescued. My friends and neighbours were rescued.
Pet rescue does not require RCMP to look into closed closet doors. Or confiscate firearms which were legally stored.
It took a town hall meeting organized by Danielle Smith to get the town and province to pony up the money after 2 months. I have not been compensated as we are still waiting for the door to be manufactured, delivered and installed. When that finally happens would you like to loan me the $3000+ while I wait to be compensated? There were High Riverites who only just received provincial compensation from the 2005 flood in February of 2013.
You, High River gal, are either a poser or possibly one of the happy idiots knocking down doors.
My freedoms, guaranteed by The Charter, were egregiously taken. That is the point dear.

  2. “If all you have to whine about is a gun (that was RETURNED)”
Sometimes, these weren’t. For example: restricted firearms require ATT (authorization to transport) which was denied for weeks in some cases. Damage to guns either intentional or due to negligence was not compensated. Numerous guns were scheduled for destruction (CBC of all places mentioned it) and no details as to why and which guns are provided so far.
“and a bashed in door that you were COMPENSATED FOR”
Most were not. Neither were broken closets, gun cabinets etc.
At least half a million dollars worth of ammunition (probably much more) was confiscated and never returned. In fact it was destroyed, because the rubber-booted thugs (must be an uncomfortable change from the usual jack-boot) decided that they did not feel like returning it. Nor did they even bother to catalogue how much ammo they looted.
And of course not letting people back in time increased the loses. The same thugs prevented people from coming back and additional damage to their property occurred while the thugs were busy laying down road spikes. In the meantime their previously locked houses were kept open to looters, animals etc.
So, in summary: High River Gal go piss on a life electrical wire.

  3. Many of the 1900 homes broken into were not in the flooded area. Some with doors left unlocked had them kicked in anyway.
Calgary homeowners were back in cleaning up while High River homeowners were forced to wait while their homes were being broken into. The High River RCMP Detachment personnel were relocated while outsiders were called in to perform the deed.
There seems no rational reason that high river was scheduled for gun seizures while 30 other communities were spared the same.
Did I mention that HR is in the Opposition Leader’s riding?

  4. What I suggest we do is to refer to the federal Gestapo as the HRGT. Do so in any dealings you have with these statist thugs. The RCMP name is outmoded seeing as they no longer ride horses and HRGT is a much better acronym for the type of work that they do.
The theft of ammunition and no compensation is outrageous. I would suggest that the High River victims torch any HRGT vehicle they get their hands on (after first applying the appropriate skin color pigments, getting greasy longhaired wigs and feather headdresses in preparation for the occasion). Any of the individuals who were victims of HGRT theft have an absolute right to obtain revenge against the HRGT.
There’s only one solution to this problem and it’s to fire every single member of the HRGT and start over again. When one lives in the countryside, criminals are easy to deal with using the SSS approach. In my dealings with members of the HRGT over the past few years, I’ve found them to be arrogant SOB’s who seem to be clueless about who’s paying their salary. Right now they’re essentially out of control robots who blindly follow orders. Time for another Nuremberg trial for any of the individuals who try to the “I was only following orders” excuse for what happened in High River.

  5. That they apparently punted the High river “members” early on is telling…wouldn’t want to make the same fuck up they did in Fort Mac back in 78…

  6. My, my, all sorts of crying that daddy should take care of you…
Virtually anywhere you live there’s going to be an elevated risk for some natural disaster, so by your logic, the only safe place to live is the moon.
No, by my logic, don’t expect me to mitigate risks you willingly take.
And there can’t be ‘elevated risk’ everywhere. duh
(where you get the idea these people are all on welfare is beyond me – I live here – they’re not).
Assistance from the taxpayer is welfare.

  7. So compensation for the door RCMP broke is welfare? Are tax credits welfare as well? What about the homeowners in Hampton Hills, Sunshine Meadows, Sunrise who do not live on the flood plain or fringe?
Gov’t decisions led to the scope of this disaster from allowing land to be developed in flood plain and fringe / crappy engineering / doing nothing with the river for over 30 years / the lack of warning to citizens / turning control over to the province… This kind of gov’t incompetence has to be rooted out. The first step is the gov’t paying for it’s incompetence. Yup that’s your money and mine. But it’s the sad truth. That does not make every dollar given to citizenry welfare.
Otherwise Strad you’d better be giving up anything you’ve ever taken from the gov’t.

  8. The asshole cops pull stunts like this, then stand and whine about why so few people respect them. Obviously, intelligence or common sense is not a huge requirement for employment.

  9. When someone dodges the first request for facts to back up his statements, there’s little point trying to engage in further conversation. All you’re doing is providing a soap box and megaphone, when what’s really needed is to just decline to pay any attention to the sounds of the wind………………

  10. Gov’t decisions led to the scope of this disaster from allowing land to be developed in flood plain and fringe / crappy engineering / doing nothing with the river for over 30 years / the lack of warning to citizens / turning control over to the province…
Waaa, daddy didn’t tell me this would happen…now pay me welfare to re-build so it can happen again.
    Typical parasites…

  11. Yeah, the main fact that eludes the parasites is that their misfortune is not cause to force someone else to pay for it.
Babies who blame someone else for their misfortunes shouldn’t have guns, anyway.

  12. Heh, somebody asks for ‘proof’ High River is known to flood, and a compatriot supplies the ‘proof’ of ongoing parasitism.
There were High Riverites who only just received provincial compensation from the 2005 flood in February of 2013.

  13. Stan; this is what I was getting at. A quote from the article:
“From the US military’s role in protecting the Political Class’s global interests and the IRS keeping the Treasury full, to the FDA serving “Big Pharma” and various law enforcement agencies maintaining a low-level chronic fear in the populace, the level of physical control that the Political Class needs to extend over productive resources is staggering. And in lockstep with the virtually unchecked growth in the Political Class, so has grown the size and scope of the enforcement branch deployed to protect its interests.
Paradoxically, for reasons I’ll touch on momentarily, the allegiance of this enforcement branch belongs to neither the Political Class whom they serve nor the Economic Class whom they “service.” In time, their level of influence grows to the point in which they become a class of their own. They are the Praetorian Class.”
Power Corrupts and absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely.
We are being treated to numerous examples are seen of this.
    Time for a Judicial Inquiry.

  14. Yes, they enforce the extraction of taxes, ultimately at the point of a gun, to give to parasites as well.
The parasites seem to be okay with that, though.

  15. Gunney99, thanks for posting that link to the Pretorian Class article. Definitely a keeper and should be required reading for everyone who wonders why the police are now treating everyone as if they’re criminals whenever there are any interactions between members of the economic class and the pretorian class.
The one tool that members of the economic class have is to stop working and the whole system will collapse. Aaron Clarey’s recommendation to work just enough so that one is able to get by is worth looking into. Also, those people who provide goods and services can refuse to have any dealings with members of the political class or the pretorian class. At the moment, this is not one of the types of “illegal discrimination” defined in various obscene laws such as the various “human rights” acts.
The main problem facing members of the economic class is that they’re too afraid to do anything on their own given that the state will act harshly towards any individual who isn’t a member of one of the special entitled classes. The primary tool that those of us who are self employed is to stop paying the kleptocrats tax installments. One person doing this will get their bank account contents stolen whereas a million people doing this will get some serious attention from the government.
Given that human nature hasn’t changed between the 1930’s and today, likely there are many members of the HRGT who would make excellent and brutal concentration camp guards. We are bombarded with statist propaganda about how the “Holocaust” was the most evil thing that has happened in human history whereas it’s just ordinary members of the pretorian class behaving in ways that statists direct them to. Those Jews who are calling this an aberration are tools of the statists who want the population to think “that can’t happen here” up to the moment when they’re herded onto cattle cars heading for “internment camps”. After WWII soldiers were told the importance of disobeying illegal orders, but now the evil of that time seems so distant the most people don’t question orders they’re given. Whether we’ve past the point of no return is something that’s not discernible now, but given the police state lockdown of Boston (in clear violation of the constitution) it’s clear that the pretorian class is testing the limits of peoples tolerance and finding the sheeple are scared.
The residents of High River should be calling for the disbandment of the HRGT given that this organization is acting as an enemy of the people rather than providing policing services.

  16. Stradivarious, you are a sorry sack of hog droppings.
I wonder what miserable excuse for an immigration officer let you in.
By the way,I think you might want to get checked for “parasites”.
