  1. “Winch? We have no such luxuries. We have strong Russian tree, make big lever to turn piece of tree in the ice as how do you say, capstan?”
The result of having to make do with nothing is you get pretty smart or you go without. My grandfather and his friends who lived through the great depression were the most ingenious people I’ve ever met. My only question is why they have a Japanese market Honda? Note the steering wheel on the right side and the tiny mirror on the left front fender.

  2. That was a sweet trick. I’m going to remember that one for the next time I have to move something huge and ignorant.
Just getting my busted Dodge from the driveway into the barn -alone- tested the old ingenuity a bit, but I pulled it off. Problem with power steering, if you have no power you can’t steer the bloody thing while you’re pushing it. So I used the trailer and a handy lawn mower/tractor, plus some one ton pulleys I keep around for when things break.
Amazing what can be done with mechanical advantage, eh?

  3. why they have a Japanese market Honda?
probably for the same reason people have JDM RHD imports in Canada. Good quality, low mileage trucks for a very good price.

  4. Very impressive example of ingenious use of primitive technology. Now the unanswered question: how did this vehicle get into Lake Baikal in the first place and, how much vodka was involved in the process?

  5. The problems with rescuing vehicles under the ice is that the rescue vehicles are usually heavier than the downed vehicle.
Solution. Drive on highway, walk on ice.

  6. Loki, ingenious use of primitive technology is right.
Plainzdrifter is right on both counts.
Snowmobiles ending up in the North Saskatchewan happens fairly often. They have to try it before it is ready for the weight.

  7. I was emailing a friend, about a new Mosque for Ontario, and we got into it about Islamic extremist acts of violence in the past 10 years. Part of his response alludes to false flag activities(fake fanatics)
“…..did you know that a lot of these so called Muslim extremists are mercenaries guided by Saudi Arabian intelligence operatives and funded by black budget CIA money? Isn’t it also interesting that these extremists are creating false flag havoc in Arab countries that have oil/gas and other geopolitical assets coveted by the USA and other imperialist power like Britain and France.”
Now I’m confused. And that doesn’t surprise me..

    U ever do any fencing?????
we didn’t call it a Spanish winch tho, you use that to tighten brace posts

  9. Yes,and I expect this will turn out even less satisfactory than the inquiry into the RCMP murder of Robert Dziekanski.
    Let the whitewash begin.

“Leading Climate Policy Advisor On Warsaw: “A Failure Even When Measured By Lowest Expectations…2°C Target Failed””
“The online Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) features an interview here with think-tank director and top German climate advisor Dr. Oliver Geden, who has of late become Germany’s latest enfant terrible for climate activists.
“Geden, a true warmist, has become exasperated by the approach used by policymakers in curbing CO2 emissions, and views goals like the 2°C target as pie-in-the-sky and counter-productive.
The FAZ asks Geden if Warsaw was a success. His answer:
No. It was a failure, even when measured by the lowest expectations.””
