  2. I didn’t know Neil Young went to Hiroshima.
    As far as the oil sands go, Neil has more than enough money to fly a private jet to Saudi and buy his fuel direct from them. Then a quick stop over in Angola or Sierra Leone for some diamonds and maybe finish up in China for the world’s last Panda liver dinner.

    Young was on his way to an environmentalist festival in Canada, according to the Sierra Sun, driving his custom-made hybrid electric 1959 Lincoln Continental.
    “The car is touted as the world’s first full-sized luxury series hybrid electric car powered by biomass, according to the LincVolt website,” the Sun reported.

  13. So an oil spill is a man-made disaster and must be dealt with instantly but the oil sands are a natural disaster and to be left alone.
    Has anyone tested the ground water near the oil sands and more importantly what’s Yoko’s take on all this?

  14. 1. Hiroshima and the land affected by oil sands production made / will make a full recovery – clearly NY has never been on a tour of either place.
    2. This is the same Neil Young who has a fondness for old American cars and drives them pretty regularly. I guess he’s not aware that they pollute at a rate equal to one or two thousand times that of a modern emissions compliant car.
    He is a hypocrite via his ignorance.

  16. Yeah Neil’s been ‘waging heavy peace’ for a long time now. He’s makes little sense.
    He’s just another wacked out musician who has spent his whole life writing and playing 3 chord songs looking for a word that rhymes with orange. He has been commercially successful and I acknowledge that but why anyone would think that his opinion is valid on any topic other than music?
    Remember when Dylan and Lennon were considered some sort of god who ‘really spoke to you?’ Hell they didn’t know what their songs meant, or were supposed to mean…..because they had no meaning. Just like their opinions.

  17. Personally I’d take the temporary disruption of land from fossil fuel extraction over the permanent ugliness of urban blight. Resource companies are required to reclaim and restore native flora which then allows the local fauna to repopulate the area.In 10-20 years there will be little evidence of human activity.
    And gawd awful music…that crap will outlast them all (except Detroit).

  25. I’ve had it with Neil Young. ‘Never liked his tinny voice anyway. ‘Fat Cat who dresses like a hobo: That’s really tacky and a finger in the eyes of those who dress like hobos because they have no job, no money.
    I’m sick to death of the rich and famous who can afford “green” energy and who **it on the rest of us by lobbying for an end to oil and gas energy. They’ll never experience no job or welfare. What pigs.

    Wonder how shakey feels about terrorist oil now? Why don’t these “heroes” stand up in the middle of Fort Mac expressing their holier than thou thoughts? That would be courageous. And its a good bet, a lot of those blue collar workers there are, or were, Neil fans………….
    And yeah, he should have followed his own advice, and Burned out, because his fading away is a disturbing site. Decades of drug use have a taken a toll on the old hippie.

Maybe him and Nenshi can get the Pembina poofters to do background vocals and record an anti Keystone anti TARRRRsands LP, you know the kind made on vinyl wrapped in plastic, the worst singer in captivity that Neil Young, that bad dope has caught up with old Neil, he wrote some decent music once but his vocal delivery sounded like cats humping on a hot tin roof. go to hell Neil.

  33. Now now, we can’t let senility detract from the moral presumptions of the pop elite.
    That is the insulated 1%ers are our moral conscience – they really know what’s best because they’re above all the wantonness of the soiled masses – like earning a living or heating a family home in the winter or affording fuel to get to work – they have none of these corrupting factors impacting their righteousness.
    The message is pure even if the vessel is flawed by age dementia
