Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Sold the paper and kept the pension liabilities.
So many journalists, so little future.
Maybe when they retire, they can get jobs working the Drive Thru at Mickey D’s to supplement their pension check enough so they can afford to eat.
Worthless MSM propaganda house sells for 10 cents on the dollar.. Im surprised its worth anything at all..
What are the literacy rates for the supporters of the Democratic Party?
Remaining a print media for these consumers seems a counter-intuitive business plan. Cheers;
Obviously the evil capitalist sandbagged the dobbie boys at the NYT. Since Detroit is rewriting the book on long term pension liability I am sure the NYT didn’t mind the $100 million liability as it will never be realized by the pensioners anyway. A real sign of things to come. That + $1 trillion that corporate America has in the bank is looking better and better.
They will cut the Boston Globe into little wee pieces to sell. Not that any one will notice.
Have to give them credit though for staying the course for Marxism till the bitter end. If this was real business they would have changed the prevailing ideology long ago. Perhaps this will be a wake up call to the intrepid reporters that being a collectivist does not pay in the end.
There is no future in socialism, people now know how phoney these people are.
Now if only they would wake up to the hereditary political class that is rampant in destroying liberty for individuals for collective unicorns.
Is it just me or does a 100 million pension liability sound low for a paper that’s been around that long. Admittedly it’s not like they had a workforce in the 1000’s but they were around for a while.
A million at 5% gets you 50,000 per year, and thus that’s about 5 mill per annum. (you can quibble the numbers, these are just pulled out of my head) It doesn’t take that much retired staff to make that small potatoes each. Guess a lot of them didn’t work 25 years there and have small pensions or something.
The socialist destruction of private equity and wealth
involved in the US dead trees propaganda business does
not seem illogical. Obama failing to nationalize the detritus
and fold it into an expanded Ministry Of Truth is puzzling.
Where will all his fired rabid MSM fans find employment
now if not as bureaucrats within his ever generous regime?
Didn’t I just read an article last week extolling the virtues of the NY Slimes new Big Kahuna, and how she was the smartest lady in the entire world?
I love this lady! Faster please!
Sold for about the amount of the pension liability, pretty close to a complete loss of acquisition capital

“we’re glad to see the Newsweek label survive; before becoming a vehicle for elite vanity journalism it was a serviceable and useful publication that provided millions of people with a weekly news digest…The rise of new publications like IBT illustrates the reality that the public still wants and needs news. Indeed, the global hunger for real news, useful filters and helpful analysis is growing. What isn’t growing is the desire to read the bloviating, self-indulgent prose of dozens of highly paid, self-important windbags who tweak the conventional wisdom week after week under the illusion that they are making some kind of contribution to public life.”

I agree. I like reading the news/current events and in-depth articles on science news. What I hate is how every story is infected with environmentalism and statist talking points. Even nature shows and comedians have become impossible to enjoy watching. Thank goodness for old books, movies and documentaries.
Oh my how will the Dem-globalist cabal keep the fraudulent narrative going in bean town?
And now the WAPO – sold to Amazon.com – do we have a landslide happening here?
