  2. The reversion to primitive pagan modalities is striking. “We now face an angry climate [god] — one that we have poked in the eye with our fossil fuel stick”. That could have come straight from the brain of a Sumerian shaman, agitated over a string of poor harvests.

  3. Ahhh. I missed the insanity. At one time this would have made major headline. Now, we have more pressing problems going on. More hate speeches and more Government intrusion into our live. Worrying about a natural event and raising it to a man is evil event is low on the list.   5. Good thing some of the ice melts in the summer, if it doesn’t we’re entering an ice age. If you think the temperature rising by a few degrees will cause massive disruption, imagine losing the wheat crops of Canada and the Ukraine every year in a world with 7,000,000,000 mouths to feed.
    Besides, the current ice mass is greater than last year.

As soon as these dryfart “scientists” can explain what caused the Medieval Warm Period, and the end of it, and the beginning of the Little Ice Age, and the end of it, and how there used to be 2 miles of ice above me, 10,000 years ago…. and how that disappeared – THEN, and only then will I pay attention to their chicken little theories. Cow farts back then perhaps?

He says himself that most of the profession are not predicting a clear Arctic before 2050—by which time they expect to be dead and unaccountable for their errors and lies. Everyone knows that if you predict the Second Coming for tomorrow morning, nobody will be fooled again when the Lord doesn’t show up.
    Then again, this jackass studies climate pseudoscience at UOttawa, so it’s no surprise he hasn’t the wits or training to lead people astray properly.

  9. Sea ice in the arctic is about to fall off the cliff. It’s later in the year than in 2012 but will it be less than 2012? I don’t know. What is clear is that since 2007, summer sea ice in the arctic has reached some low points that seem unusual. Yes, I know that antarctic sea ice is high and about the equivalent of the arctic low. And no, this will not result in a sea rise. And yes, it may not be a bad thing anyway, for example if it gets low enough it will provide a shorter sea route to asia, etc, etc. Still, it is the one thing that the global warming crowd can point to which is indisputable…… that makes a strong argument for a change in climate or global warming. I have yet to see it explained in any other way and I’m looking.

  11. Imagine how much more arctic ice there is now than when the Vikings were rowing around a few hundred years ago. Must be proof of global cooling.
    Don’t forget the four guys trying to row/tug their boat from Tuk to. pond Inlet because they chugged the Greenie Kool Aide and believe the Arctic Ocena will be ice free for their Greenie publicity stunt.
    17 days into their little adventure and they have dragged their boat about 50km. They haven’t moved more than a few hundred metres off the beach and they are about to hit a huge ice wall they they think isn’t t there.
    Hope the SAR folks don’t get injured when they have to go out and save the chuckleheads and put a merciful end to their self inflicted publicity stunt & torture episode.

  14. David in Michigan..The decline in Arctic sea ice numbers is not a proxy for global warming. The reduction is a result of methodology and the wind. In both 2007 and 2012 when the numbers droped dramatically, there were changes in wind speed and direction. In 2012 one of the strongest storms ever recorded roared through the Arctic in the first week of August, sending the sea ice numbers to new levels. The methodology ios flawed because they don’t measure all the ice,(they cut off at 15% or 30% ) They also don’t acknowledge the fact that the wind will take ice out of one area, (reducing the area count) and pileing it in areas already at 100% coverage. (Lower area count with the same amount of sea ice.)

  21. The Franklin expedition set out during a period of low ice mass in the Arctic,and we all know how that turned out.
    And the Vikings eventually were frozen in and starved to death after experiencing a 300 year warming trend. The planet,she warms for a few centuries,then cools for a few centuries, regardless of what the ants do.
    So, the best thing is for all of us to carry on with our lives,and lobby hell out of the governments to quit with the AGW/CC hysteria and consequent carbon taxes,secure in the knowledge that Gaia really doesn’t give a damn.
    The climate alarmists need to be treated as the lunatics they really are, not exalted to highly paid positions funded by taxpayers. Give ’em all the prozac they need and tell ’em for me to just STFU.

  23. The statement by Beckwith that the climate has been stable for the last 11000 years is a lie. It is a lie because it is a false statement, and because Beckwith undoubtedly knows better.
    In the last 11000 years we have been in the tail of the last ice age, and hence warming. Even in the very early historical period, north Africa was wetter than it is today, with grasslands where there is now desert.
    The Nile inundation has been anything but constant. In fact a prolonged drought is thought to have been a key factor in the end of the Old Kingdom (the Pharaoh as a god among gods was supposed to be able to keep that sort of thing from happening). It was by no means the last.
    The Mediaeval Warm Period is well known and established, as is the fact that it ended in disaster. To quote Wikipedia, “The Great Famine of 1315–1317 (occasionally dated 1315–1322) was the first of a series of large scale crises that struck Europe early in the fourteenth century. Places affected include continental Europe (extending east to Russia and south to Italy) as well as Great Britain[1]. It caused millions of deaths over an extended number of years and marks a clear end to an earlier period of growth and prosperity between the eleventh to thirteenth centuries.” Some stability.
    And so it goes. We might mention the protracted famine in Scotland in the late 18th C, and five minutes with Google will give many more.

  24. The fact that all of North America was under ice and this is still a natural recession seems to be too difficult to comprehend for the chicken little crowd. The rest is called weather, and they can’t even get that right for more than 3 days in advance.

  30. Artic summer sea ice is unusually low compared to:
    1. 1970 thru 1979 average
    2. 1980 thru 1989 average
    3. 1990 thru 1999 average
    4. 2000 thru 2010 average
    And each decade is lower than the previous decade.
    Having said this, the article claiming “Artic Sea Ice Will Vanish in 2013” is pure bunk. I never intended to imply I was supporting this wild claim.

    There have been many predictions from global cooling to peak oil to the population bomb and mow its global warming.

There are enough mental midgets at the IPCC that think we want addressing when in reality we just want them to admit they don’t have a clue what they’re talking about.   35. The tread is old but maybe you’ll check back. You should re-read your links. They say nothing to refute what I’ve written. (cracks in the ice allows subs to surface for a short period before it again freezes, winter sea ice is not summer ice, etc) Summer sea ice in the arctic is unusually low and has been slowly decreasing for 40 years. Go to the sea ice page on WUWT. I didn’t make this up and it is disingenous to suggest that I did.
