That’s what the Toronto Star is engaged in, now, in its relentless campaign against the Toronto Mayor, Rob Ford. That’s right; the Toronto Star is bullying the Mayor. Despite all their anguished columns against bullying of children, the Toronto Star is setting the example of: How to Bully.
Bullying. Constant, daily anonymous, unverified, unprovable ‘reports’ of his being drunk, of his ‘abuse of his office’ and now, even, of his ‘smoking crack’ in a video which is unavailable, unverified – and unviewable.
The fact that Ford wouldn’t even know what cocaine, what crack, what drugs are about…hey, that doesn’t stop them from accusing him of using them!
The fact that there has never, ever, in his entire career, been evidence of drug use, well, that shouldn’t stop a major Newspaper from its investigations?!
Bullying. The Star constantly sneers at his weight; at his lack of ‘class’; he’s not a latte and arugula salad guy- heck, he wouldn’t even know those words; they mock his suburban lifestyle of cottage and football.
The fact that Ford, as councillor, never ever claimed a penny of office expenses while all the leftist councillors claimed in the tens of thousands of such expenses – the Star never mentions this.
The fact that he’s focused on reducing taxes and yet maintaining services by confronting the leftist Unions – which had under the previous latte-arugula mayor – moved in and totally controlled Toronto City Hall and the taxpayer budget – the Toronto Star never mentions this.
Bullying. What a great example for our children. Investigative reporting? Heck, why bother when innuendoes and ‘anonymous sources’ are the catch of the day.
Why? Well, the Star is firmly left, and, like the Globe and Mail, part of the elite latte-arugula crowd of Toronto – who DO dribble in drugs (at parties, heh, as the Star-supported candidate for Mayor, Smitherman, admitted)..and who make backroom deals with the Unions…which pay their transit ticket takers over 6 figures a year while the escalators in the subway are all broken. That’s the left.
