  1. But but, we’re not elitist like the National Socialist Party of Germany was, we only want to help those who can’t take care of themselves. It takes a village you know. After all we are co-parents. Everything was going swimmingly until Uncle Adolph let the cat out of the bag, and we had to get these ideas out of the public eye. Hi, keep in mind folks, the people love us. The voice of the sheeple did a poll and that was the result. CBC the true voice of the real Canadians chose Tommy Douglas as #1.

  2. They have moved on to just killing subnormals in utero – no need for those expensive camps anymore.

  3. I love the double standard these guys have, all whites need to feel guilt about slavery, especially those in the states. But Tommy the “lets round up the sub normal and sterilize them” was just a young man speaking the idealism of the day and he grew out of it. I suspect Tommy and his cronies are the few people on the planet that have Hitler to thank for not becoming some black note in history, Hitler took the “cool trendy” idea and turned it into a gritty, ugly, cruel reality. I am sure our compounds would have been the Hiltons of concentration camps, with the best of sterilization medical care, we Canadians know how to do things right. No expense spared…..

  4. Stay true to its socialist roots!? Given the performance of its leader and some of its, er, frosh MPs, this item rather seems to concern a fine, arcane and tangential point of semantics, doesn’t it? Hair-splitting, really. Pardon me for not noticing the difference, or for understanding what all the fuss is about.
Sort of reminds of the story of the sociologist who was engaged in public opinion research in post-independence India to determine the impact of the British on Indian society. He had to abandon the research, as more than half of those interviewed had no idea that the British had ever been there.

  5. They feel the need to keep the “Democratic” in the name because it’s the one thing they are not. They’re still struggling internally with the concept of one person – one vote.

  6. I can dream too. Sterilization of undesirables for their own good was one of the very few “progressive” proposals that stood more than a communist’s chance of getting into heaven of working as advertised.
Of course the CCF/NDP changed its mind, for the same reason they’re so gung-ho about mass immigration from the cesspools of the earth. They quickly realized that only those too congenitally lazy, stupid or violent to be anything but trouble to a civilized society could be depended on to support socialism, come what might. They know as well as we do, just for example, that the only ones to mourn the death of Nicolae Ceausescu were the Romanian Gypsies, whom he’d encouraged to breed like rabbits just for the freebies (of course, most of the pups wound up in the orphanages, because their dams had no intention of feeding them).
Speaking of undesirables: Arash Azizi is a former Iranian “journalist” who, assuming his account can be believed and he’s not actually an agent of the Islamic Republic sent to spy on Iranian emigres in Canada, wore out his welcome in the Iranian propaganda machine in record time, fleeing to Canada in 2009 at age 21. His priorities upon arriving in Canada included joining the NDP almost immediately. The list of people he’s interviewed for emigre newspaper Shahrvand is a laundry list of Canada’s left; among his translation work is a translation of Barack Obama’s “Audacity of Hope” into Farsi. Once again, Christiendom’s loss is Islam’s gain.
Spay your “refugees.” There aren’t enough good homes for all of them.

  7. Remember that “The Star” is committed to the Liberal Party. Always has been and always will be.
A “non socialist” NDP (as if)is a greater threat to their darling leftist Liberals. The goal is to protect the Liberals.
This is the true reason for this opinion from the Star.
By the way, great fixed headline Kate 🙂

  8. In the heart of every social democrat beats the heart of a Malthusian eugenicist – class prejudice, population control, depopulation pogroms and the general concept that cosmic wisdom has made them an arbiter of life and death and a sculptor of fate and the human condition – to create utopia and populate it with ubermenchen.
Tommy was less a man of God as a God of men who wanted to dictate who can and can’t create life.

  9. Tommy Douglas wrote some very questionable things as a young man. My concern is more his economic legacy. Saskatchewan lost population steadily after he took power and by the time Allan Blakeney was in power,it became very difficult to run a business without some government control or input.
We’re moving away from that very, very slowly.

  11. Can’t help but think that if the NDP still clung to Tommy’s idea of getting rid of sub-normals, that would eliminate their entire party and base.

  12. You’re absolutely right Occam – twice, even, and even Slater (in his own nasty way) is pretty good.

  13. All of the above. The recent disclosure of the views of the Quebec NDP MP show what the NDP is actually all about, that being communists at heart. They just try to hide it with the word socialist.

  14. It should be amusing to watch the tender hands of the statists on the baby boomers when they march into retirement health care. Actually, the ‘death panels’ are already operating.

  15. Again Phil displays the selective reality of a foot soldier of the collectivist continuum.
Phil obviously missed the fact that Eugenics programs were in place in uber-progressive BC before Alberta and they didn’t get rid of this bureaucratic tyranny until 1973.
Am I really surprised he missed this ideological inconvenient fact? No not when these partisan zombies spend most of their waking day apologizing for the myriad fallacies in their degenerate socialist dogma.

  16. Proof Phil would be a refreshing change from your child like rantings..
Not that it matters because preston is no more responsible for his father’s “insanity” then your offspring (god forbid) would be responsible for yours. :O)

  17. Pretty much…in utero eugenics policies are very much in vogue in Canada.
If the babies aren’t perfect or female; then what’s a little gendercide…?
But those truths are a might more INCONVENIENT, than the twaddle peddled by the ‘Al Jazeera Goracle’ sellouts.
But as we have learned there is an OMERTA style code of silence on such issues as M-408 most recently heralded by Mark Warawa, MP.
As is most often the way, the various political ‘-isms’ of the day, merely define others out of existence; mainly because it is CONVENIENT.

  18. “…it suggested a rightward shift that would turn the NDP into a party of the centre like the American Democrats.”
Oh, I’ve been wrong all these years, figured the U.S. Democrats had segued into the American version of the NDP, but they’re actually a “centre” Party. Well, the things you learn on the internet.
Ken,I might be able to muster SOME positive feelings for the “socialists” if they would just admit what they really are,but maybe they are too dumb to realize it themselves.

  19. “…three simple rules: production should be organized for need not profit, there should be economic and social planning and “toward these ends and where necessary the extension of the principle of social ownership.””
Amazing, isn’t it? After what we have seen and learned in the past 100 years, there are still people like Azizi (and Nikki Ashton and Libby Davies and many, many more) who push these “principles”. And voters who vote for these mutts.

  20. Dick Slater >
Dang, you’re on a roll lately, well put.
Tearing apart a free and democratic western society is a collaboration of interests for a variety of reasons, but they’re doing a good job of it.

  21. When Douglas made that comment they were children dying of starvation in Saskatchewan. There is a woman in my city that has had six children by four different men she is 26 years old. When you add up the cost to the taxpayer of birthing the babies plus the cost to the government of placing the babies in other homes or making them wards of the court you wonder if eugenies was that bad of an idea.

  22. Brian mouland >
“…you wonder if eugenics was that bad of an idea.”
    Absolutely!
I’m all for eugenics’ providing it’s for white liberals, why should we let their kids be born to taint our society?
We need a Planned Parenthood that takes in more white Liberals instead of allowing the Liberals to push the blacks into abortions.

  23. I think it’s silly to keep bringing up eugenics.
Stick to the subject and ask “Why should they return to their socialist roots if they never left them?
AND, upon what real world historical evidence are they relying for the wisdom of following the tenets of socialism?
When and where has it worked?; has it not brought unalloyed misery?
