Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Kitty, you are not a regular are you? There are dozens of currently serving and former service men ( myself included) who read this site and contribute posts.
I have also used firearms in combat, as have many here. We may know a little more than you give us credit for.
when are we going to have a discussion on the first amendment rights that allow people to make movies, television programmes, video games and like that wallow in abject violence and sexuality? What about the lawyer that took the case that set the precedent that the mentally unstable don’t have to take their medications or remain institutionalized? Is someone going to ask them for their comment? The issue is way too broad just to paint a target on the weapon. Now is the time for grief. Not politics.
I think I shall stay out of this series, since many of the rest of you seem to have covered it so well.
But for Fearless Leader, I would note that it is NOT ONLY the MSM who will never waste a good gun control crisis:

If you could, Kate, please scan my post in spam-jail and free it? Your filter does not like three links, but they are pertinent.
Kursk, well said.
Anyone else think it a rather odd or intriguing coincidence that both Marxist loving leaders having primary school shootings the same day? One with a knife having 20 injured children and 1 adult injury, yet no reported fatalities (as if China ever reports them accurately anyway) and another in the US with 20 children fatalities and 8 adult fatalities. Both had the exact same number of children either killed or injured. Odd coincidence for sure.
According to MSN: “Police arrested a 36-year-old man, identified as villager Min Yingjun, and while the extent of the injuries inflicted by the attacker is still unclear, there have been no fatalities reported. The knife attacks coincided with the mass school shooting in Newtown, Conn., in which 27 people are reported dead, and the drastically different levels of violence has given fodder to both sides of the gun control debate.”
Dictators all like to have private armed citizens separate from the military, won’t be long before that promise is fulfilled-more powerful and better funded than the military or something like that, he promised. He’ll have plenty of unemployed and hungry civilians once the food stamps and other supports run out which I’m guessing is very soon. Can’t have all the citizens armed. The military doesn’t trust him or he them. Hope this is all just my imagination looking to find plot material for a fiction novel..
Whatever happened to liaison officers in schools? When I was a wee nipper there was always a cop or two in the school. Where did they go? Wouldn’t it make sense to have an armed policeman or two in every school? Heck, there are armed guards around banks. Why are we not guarding the schools?
There’s a curious phenomenon about a certain viewpoint that gives power to inanimate objects.
Not sure if it’s totally exclusive to our left-thinking friends, but there are two examples that perplex me.
One, guns. As I said to my late father-in-law, I could put 1,000 guns in this room and 1,000 years later, not one of them will have attained the capability to rob a bank.
Two, Gaia. How many of us have heard ‘the universe is a living, breathing organism.’
Really, rocks and trees can breathe?
I’ll grant one point. These people are well-intentioned.
Makes you wonder how they were dumbed down about how the universe works and the workings of human nature.
Inanimate objects have no free will and therefore are unable to make choices.
Humans have the capacity of performing good and evil acts … with inanimate objects.
This is what passes for fact checking in modern news media?
Great leaoin; conclusions, they’re foaming to pin this on someone and stir the pot for Obumbles gun confiscation agenda. Has anyone noticed how, after the fast and furious black op faiked to provide the impetus for a federal gun ban, that these zombie mall shooters seem to be a daily occurance?
I agree with TrueNorthist, and some great input from several other commentators like The Phantom and Mark Matis. Hospitals and Schools should NOT be walk-in clinics for armed wackos and other perverts. These should be considered the safest of havens and demand proper protection. Personally, I remain of the opinion that it is PEOPLE (if they can still be called that) who commit such horrific crimes, and the instruments of destruction they use (along with their rules and regulations), are totally secondary. The crux of the cancer actually is a digression from the fundamentals of our “free” society. Straying from God’s value system and the once cohesive family unit has created a void which is rapidly being filled with the artificial, temporal, and “can’t get no..satisfaction” (ignore the ‘double negative’) emphases of this media-enhanced b.s. world. Also, the sensationalism cultivated by the MSM while reconstructing this list of the greatest murderous tragedies does nothing but “exalt” the criminals to Hollywood status. The Prince of this dark world is extremely satisfied as more wackos (and potential ones) listen to those still small, WRONG voices to conspire their dirty deeds on the road to this “Stardom”. We ALL need to WAKE UP, and NOT feed into this cancer. The ANSWER, which might possibly deter some of this digression, COULD BE to have a highlighted roster of the WORST ASSHOLES in History. Maybe they’d be less-inclined to want to achieve their iconic fame in that way, alive or dead.
MissAnthropy @1:27 – you realize you lost all the libs at “Appalachian School of Law”, don’t you?
He wanted attention, and he got it.
This is the kind of attention he should get;
Deu 19:11 But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and take his life that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:
Deu 19:12 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the kinsman avenger of murder, that he may die.
The next of kin of the victims should have the opportunity to put the murderer to death.
Deu 19:20 And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
@BorowitzReport About that Musket deal? Go back to a pen, quill and parchment. Don’t lick the ink though. There’s enough quality journalism from the ingesting of other substances.
“That Borowitz fellow Ma? He jus’ ain’ right in the hay-ed.”
Someone linked to this FB page, on twitter, Friday morning. Saw it shortly before my account was suspended. Can’t believe it took them a month to give me the boot.
With regards to the knife attack at the Chinese school, I have always wondered what motivates those attacks. I asked my friend who recently immigrated form China and he said that since there is little legal recourse one can use against corrupt party officials, those who have lost everything will go to the elite elementary schools and murder their children in revenge.
Hey Kitty, The media got it wrong. he wasn’t carrying or using an assault rifle and he definitely wasn’t wearing Kevlar. Ooops. I guess the media doesn’t have to report facts any more just what they want to be true.
