  1. Have a look at http://www.torontosun.com/2012/07/27/khadr-unrepentant-psychiatrist
As I was flipping channels yesterday afternoon trying to get the lay of the land on the opening ceremonies, I saw (I think) Christine Barak interviewing Romeo Dallaire on Mr. Khadr. Senator Dallaire’s position seemed to be that we could bring Mr. Khadr back now and turn him into a fine upstanding citizen, or we could wait out the remainder of his sentence and have him come back, which M. Dallaire asserted was his right, as a hardened terrorist.
In light of the mendacity and machinations of the Chretien years around this family’s behaviour, why are we obligated to take this individual back at all? Isn’t the issue of his country of future residence his problem? Why is it ours?

  2. Kate may not like this one…
[…]In an effort to attract more college graduates, Saskatchewan is offering both Canadians and immigrants $20,000 CAD to live and work in the city for 7 years. You’ve got to be a recent graduate though (after 2006).
The “Graduate Retention Program” use to be just a tuition-reimbursement program for natives, but was expanded in 2008 to help entice graduates from all over the world. The $20,000 bonus is paid in chunks each year when you file your taxes.

  3. Olympics; fake but accurate?
If you watch rowing the sound you will hear is fake!
    … … …
[…] they made up the rowing noises and played them during the broadcast of the event, like a particularly strange electronic music show.
“That afternoon we went out on a canoe with a couple of rowers recorded stereo samples of the different type of effects that would be somewhat typical of an event,” Baxter recalls. “And then we loaded those recordings into a sampler and played them back to cover the shots of the boats.”
The real sound, of course, would have included engine noises and a helicopter whirring overhead. The fake sound seemed normal, just oars sliding into water. In a sense, the real sound was as much of a human creation as the fake sound, and probably a lot less pleasant to listen to.
So, in order to make a broadcast appear real, the soundtrack has to be faked,

  4. D’Allaire is as soft headed now as he was in Rwanda. He is a perfect example of the type of officer the army got when language ability became more important than leadership. After Rwanda he should have fallen on his sword, retired in disgrace and kept out of the public eye. Instead he became a poster child for PTSD and a senator. I have sympathy for soldiers who do suffer from PTSD, but none for general officers.

D’Allaire is a Canadian disgrace. Canadians’ repeat after me ” All Canadians are cowards that enjoy watching Genocide” Yes! Canada rewards the worst warts, because they would feel bad if held responsible…Making that international criminal a Senator will come back to haunt Canada..What part of the UN do you folks understand?

  6. Mosquitoes,butterflies,and parrots.
All bear watching. It appears that the USA, Israel, and the Netherlands have developed sophisticated miniature drones that are spying on Allah and his merry band. They mention France also, but I dismiss that because birds flying backwards is impractical.
“Putting on the helmet, the operator finds themselves in the ‘butterfly’s cockpit’ and virtually sees what the butterfly sees in real time.”

London Olympic Games organizers are scrambling to fill rows of empty seats at some venues and they plan to call in soldiers, teachers and school children to help out.”

  9. “Canada has won a bronze metal at the Olympics!”
    I’ve rarely been more excited.

  10. “Canada has won a bronze metal at the Olympics!”
I would be even more shocked and surprised if it had won a bronze wood.
    Just teasing you!
