Not Watching For The Asteroid

An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect. ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted.

  1. Wow. I hope he sues them for every cent they have. The “journalist” should be fired immediately.

  2. According to Davenport, the right-o-sphere is “studiously ignoring” this story.
My take is schizophrenic-with-a-Joker-complex (Batman movie, and look at the guy’s photos for the psychosis), but maybe they can find a way link this to Sarah Palin. Lord knows they’ll keep trying.

  3. It took what…maybe a couple of hours after the name of the suspect was released before Brian Ross was “reporting” a possible Tea Party connection?
This is the media running the Tucson playbook all over again. Hurry up and get the “Tea Party caused this” allegation out there before the facts emerge that discredit it. It worked before, they figure it will work again.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. The Canadian media is bad enough, but even CBC & Torstar can’t hold a candle to what the USA has to put up with. Media partisanship in the States goes far beyond anything we have here. I just pray our media doesn’t start learning from example.

  4. Fort Hood, Tucson, Zimmerman, and now this. It’s amazing how people still believe the MSM to be a credible, unbiased source after their horrendous coverage and behavior in the wake of these events. They’re not even trying to hide their biases anymore.

  5. The script on this thread + comments and every thread below and it’s comments on SDA are strangely vertical, no longer horizontal.
However the thread above, with Ezra talking about Khadr is normal.
    Anyone else have this problem?
Did that fix it? Unclosed table tag. thx.

  6. There isn’t any information on this guy that one can take to the bank yet. An ex medical student doesn’t really fill in any blanks. Have the media talked to his ex class mates at the University of Colorado? … why not?
When the police do gain access to his apartment, then have at ‘er. I won’t be surprised to hear he’s another white hispanic. uff.

  7. Brian Ross, ABC News “Senior Investigative Correspondent”
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

  8. Only brain dead people like davenport the smelly fart filled sofa believe MSM “stories”.

  9. The left so wants a right scapegoat they always get it wrong.
It just exposes them for the frauds they are. Its why I don’t mind their rashness. Kicking Palin around only shows the pettiness.
Sooner or latter even the thickest brain, excepting of course the hard Marxist. Will by being ill informed all the time not trust these phoney news vultures.

  10. In fairness, both “James” and “Holmes” are very rare names.

Elementary, my dear, Black Mamba. Palin did it.

  11. The left doesn’t get it “wrong”, it’s just that they no longer have
control of all the choke points for suppressing the truth.
    .

  12. There is a reason Mcdonalds advertises all the time/Wendys/ Capital One on and on, when Hollywood advertises death and destruction, it is art,,no problem,, when McDonalds advertises it is to make kids fat,,go figure. The debasing of society is by liberals, no one else. Putting a penny into the pockets of Hollywood liberals only fuels the societal fire, find a hobby people, Batman is not it.

  13. There are only 3 types left to watch dino media spin –
Drooling trailer park trash who need someone to tell them how to change their own gitch, anf wall street racketeers and their camp follwers who want to believe their dysfunctional utopia is still there.

  14. The perp wore black from head to toe, wore a mask, and was a professional student with a penchant for causing chaos….
Where have I seen that kind of individual before?
Yep, could only be one of those “tax enough already” types…really?

  16. My only problem is he took out innocents. The guy should have went to Hollywood, where the real depravity lives.

  17. If you’ll allow that ABC’s mission is not to provide ‘news’ or actionable information…and if you comprehend that ABC’s programming is a running advertisement of its “pose” or “attitude” towards national and global political issues, then you’ll understand why Brian Ross let fly with the Tea-Party association and why he will suffer no meaningful reprimand.
As it stands, Ross and ABC have advertised to anyone still watching that, if you depend on profligate government spending and are terrified by the prospect of a roll-back of government largesse, ABC is your channel. And Brian Ross has your back in your ‘war’ with the Tea Party.
To the viewer unitiated in the media business model Ross’s ‘slip’ constitutes malpractice. But to his hirers in ABC’s bloodstream, it does not.
This, of course, was let loose intentionally, and with the full knowledge that it would instantly be rebutted, and that the channel’s management would be submitting an apology in due course. Any journey PR aide could predict the cascade of events resulting from Ross’ “mistake.”
In fact, if you subscribe to my analysis, then it is not unreasonable to assume that ABC might have even had its apology drafted in advance. Knowing that, as we in the blogosphere retail their apology, we are unwittingly retailing their advertising, too.

  18. This is the best summary of the media aftermath of the mass murder in Colorado.
The fact that Brian Ross hasn’t resigned or been fired yet is the greatest indictment of the sorry state of the mainstream media in recent memory. To illustrate how deeply in denial the journalists class is, one need go no further than the bio page of Ross on ABC News:
“Brian Ross is one of the most honored and respected journalists in the country….”

  19. We are not sure whether Eric Holder and the DOJ is involved in this gun incident.
