One of the problems that the IDF has in refitting captured armour….is that it is invariably Soviet designed and supplied….and cramped.
IDF theory is this cramped evironment affects arab armour effectiveness/efficiency…..probably correct.
Soviet design to improve performance and protection was to shrink the interior space. Even the Russians (average height about 5’9-10″) had to continually reduce the height of troops selected for armour (5’4″ for the T72). Even using an autoloader for the main armament and elimination of the hull gunner was not that successful.
Sasquatch, the Russians must be salivating over the huge new N. Korean market for their tanks – probably the only population in the world that would claim they are too roomy.
As far as shrinking down people, why not just increase the amount of interior space? If Dr. Who could do this with the Tardis, then we could use the same technology to have suburban telephone booth size lots each containing a 50,000 square foot house and a couple of acres of lawn inside. Would probably drive the watermelons crazy if technology like this ever came out.

Ok,so 142cm/4’9″ in white mans language, is still dangerous since hand to hand combat is a very rare event in modern times. Smaller target, faster, easier to conceal and can pull the trigger as quickly as a larger person. Just as brainwashed and fanatical as their tallest 5’2″ soldiers. Dangerous at any size.
Look at photos of the Korean DMZ that capture in a single frame South Korean soldiers and NORK soldiers. By and large, the height differences are astounding; the South Koreans are bigger. Yet a generation ago there probably wasn’t much of a difference. Such photos juxtapose prosperity and want.
One wonders what the effects of widespread and prolonged malnutrition are on the intellect of the NORKs. Is grass a brain food?
