Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta gave testimony in the Senate yesterday that was just breathtaking: asserting that the Obama administration believes it can go to war against Syria by obtaining permission from an international tribunal — the United Nations and/or NATO — and that no authorization from Congress is needed.

  3. If your a poker player here’s an analogy: It’s heads up time. Obama has had his stack reduced by 75% because of agressive play no a series of bad hands. Obama and his administration has been dealt a seven four off suit and is going all in. The center right electors in the US have a pair of queens and a stack that is 4 times larger thna Obama’s. Will they call his bluff in November? Gawd I hope so.

    He is a traitor, plain and simple. He should be arrested and given a fair trial then hung. That is how it used to be done when people had balls and knew how to call a spade a spade … no pun intended. If Obama wins another election there will need to be a coup or America is gone. If he succeeds they will come after Canada next. Then we will have to dig up Pierre Trudeau and hang his corpse.

  13. In my view this is one step away from the President to be obligated to go to war(with Congresses approval) at the behest of the International community. In other words, what’s stopping the UN from demanding action from the POTUS to attack… say Israel even if it’s against the wishes of Congress.
    This is a very slippery slope, and at first glance seems to be the biggest strike against the Constitution thus far by the Obama admin.
    Quite frankly, I believe this IS the end-game: the loss of military sovereignty.

    On Dec 31 2011 Obamba passed the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) – essentially extending the American militaries definition of a battlefield to the American homeland. ALL US citizens can now be considered enemy combatants at the discretion of the US military on US soil, arrested, detained indefinitely, and interrogated, or executed accordingly!
    This is an unprecedented and illegal coup – This is an illegitimate government’s act of war on the American people.

    FL has already mentioned the G of T Resolution. Furthermore Eisenhower(R) refused to intervene, Kennedy(D) committed US forces to support the SV regime, escalated by Johnston(D). It was another Republican President, Nixon, who got the US out.
    It was Johnston who secured the G of T resolution, but it was Kennedy who started the intervention. Guess he never felt the need to explain why the US was at war, did he? But you skanky little leftwing t*rds never really feel inclined to be honest about your feet-of-clay, Constitution-violating leaders, do you?

  33. For perspective, the US Congress has not passed an official declaration of war since WWII. Subsequently terms like ‘police action,’ military force’ and ‘war on terror’ were used to cloud the issue.
    This doesn’t excuse Obama’s attempts. There is however plenty of equal skulduggery from Republicans in this regard right up to Bush 2. Plenty of fingers can be pointed. It doesn’t seem to be a partisan issue as almost every presidency since WWII has invaded or bombed the hell out some country. We should note that the US has in that time helped to overthrow plenty of foreign leaders and destabilize many countries. It appears that a permanent state of conflict exists.

    That line was likely crossed over 60 years ago in Korea. The US joined at the behest of the UN. Truman(D)called it a ‘policing action.’ Eisenhower(R)continued the action without protest to constitutional violations, but did end the war with the use of Nuclear threats.
    For Vietnam no actual congressional war declaration was passed. Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin resolution which gave the president the ability to use military force. That fell short of an official Declaration of War, which to my knowledge is a constitutional violation.

    It should have dawned on me in a day or two—as I said, it actually took months for stupid-me to twig—but Bill is not intelligent: he’s a stuck-up, sycophantic, self-promoter and his show is simply a vehicle for him to try to prove what a with-it, know it all guy He is. I guess there’s lots of $$ in it, because all kinds of intelligent guys like Dennis Miller, Bernie Goldberg, Charles Krauthammer, Brit Hume, etc. show up and don’t tell Him to His face how UNsmart and UNknowledgeable He is—when He’s spinning so fast, it’s clear He has no idea what He’s talking about. (I can see these smart guys NOT rolling their eyeballs!)

  36. The French begged the US for help in Indochina and Ike deferred. Frogs then got creamed at Diem Bien Phu. Commies tried to take over and JFK sent military “advisers” to the region. LBJ escalated the support until the G of T action when he asked Congress to declare war. The rest is history.
    Democrats got them into the war. GOP President got them out.
    I know because I lived through it and lost more than a few friends serving there.

But worse than that: I was, for a while, fooled by Chris Mathews, not into thinking he was a conservative, but to thinking he was at least attempting to do honest, objective reporting. (I blush, but not too loudly.)

    It is possible at the bidding of our democrats the UN will send troops to confiscate American firearms after the UN declares our second amendment obsolete.

    I didn’t articulate myself correctly, and I see now the word”behest” is the incorrect word. What I meant is this could lead to the international community being able to*compel*the USA to war if Congress can be sidestepped at the command on the international community.
    I don’t think this is the case today, but believe is the end game for the commies.
    Unfortunately I’ve been very pressed for time and have not been able reread my comments.

  42. I agree with the many comments on O’Reilly. What bothers me is that he’s always interrupting and talking over his guests. I don’t know how they tolerate him doing this.
    On some issues, I think he’s OK but with regards to Obama, I simply can’t understand how he actually thinks Obama is ‘intelligent’.
    I also read his book ‘Killing Lincoln’ and was appalled at how badly written it was, how juvenile the writing style, the metaphors, the outline. It was – well, it was like a 16 year old writing a high school essay. Really bad.
    I like Hannity and Bret Baier. Steve Hayes is also excellent.
