Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The Chevy Trabant?
http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/101655.html
I’ve been calling it the Chevy Dolt. Might need to switch, it’s just too good. 🙂
(A Volt for a Dolt)
SDA comment..
how true!
Funny thing,
even Hitler sponsored a better car.
Bambie foot pusher/power.
I heard that sales on this car were not up to expectations. Now the Chinese are entering the game with their own electric car. GM’ll probably bail soon.
Somebody send this to Gore and Suzuki please.
The Volt’s real name is the Obama Acorn 4 door Sedan.
The word is out that with the subsidies etc, these critters actually cost $300,000 a pop, then sell for $40,000, then qualify for a rebate….
The fate of the electric car was pretty well sealed in the early 20th century. Still zealots like Suzuki, CBC and Dalton McGuinty persist in pushing a vehicle totally unsuited for Canadian climate and infrastructure. In McGuinty’s case, it is inconsistent with his other goals of generating electricity with windmills and giant mirrors. How well is an electric vehicle suited to rural environs of Canada, where a pickup is a favoured means of transport? Does McGuinty or Dr Fruitfly even know there is a rural Canada?
Blind faith in a vehicle favoured by Grandma Duck is a vision shared by both.
Chevy Trabant and Volt for a Dolt nails it.
Coming soon… A movie sequel on how GM (or maybe this time the GOP) killed the electric car. Again.
The enviros will never accept that the economic and practical drawbacks of electric cars make them almost completely unattractive to buyers. Just as cathedrals are hopelessly uneconomic but still are built, they think electric cars are some sort of environmental cathedrals that those who “care” ought to overpay for either directly or through government subsidy.
Dennis DesRosier was on motormouth last sunday, and he said that GM Canada’s market share last month was less than 15%, which is the lowest for it since 1913. He thinks that if they don’t inprove soon they could be back where they were a few years ago.
See motormouth on radio – starts at about 14:30. Also regarding hybirds, which have been in Canada for 12 years now, they have sold only 62,000 total. VW sells that many diesels every year and they don’t get incentives.

An electric car produced in order to serve a political agenda which was predicated on politically corrupted pseudoscience has it’s sales figures padded in order to look good politically?
I’m shocked!/
Taxpayers got fisted….
We need another war to improve GM’s stock position.
Battery life is estimated anywhere from 8 to 14 years and replacement cost is estimated at over 10 thousand. If correct it would mean that at the 6 year mark you would probably get next to nothing for your $40 000 investment and at the 10 year mark you would have to pay a small fortune at the nearest recycling depot just to walk away from it. Completely illogical investment unless you are a rich foam at the mouth tree hugger.
Another thing the video does not mention is if this vehicle gets into a serious accident there is a good chance police and firefighters will stand around a look at you because there could be a good chance of electrocution for them unless the car is “discharged”. Urban emergency personell may have had some training in this but that is a gamble you can avoid by staying with conventional vehicles where the jaws of life is used as necessary. Just another “green” initiative” that would long be dead if your taxes weren’t paying for it.
Its lovely how many Lefty scams are coming off the rails these days isn’t it? Its like Obama is the kiss of death for anything he lays his hands on.
Ok I might get called out but bear with me…..
GM got forced to rush a prototype car into production.
The Volt is a brilliant hybrid design
THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SUCCESSFULLY TRIED ON THAT SCALE.
You can thank the Teleprompter of The USA named Obama for the Volt.
Never push technology that you don’t UNDERSTAND.
dwright
That’s right dwright is here.
Obama and his “govment” advisors are to blame for the Volt.
PROVE ME WRONG.

Oh dear…

Back to Dolt. 🙂
@ soundofmusak
Does not say how far he went or how often he used it. Personally I think it’s a great looking car and if I had money to burn I would love to have one. Just like I would love to have a Edsel to keep in the garage and polish as required. The reason the Volt is a dud is multiple. Too expensive , it still does’nt have the bugs out of it, depreciates to nothing over a short life span, no one can fix it except a few factory mechanics and if you get into a accident you could wait a long time for help. If you get into a minor accident the car could catch fire two weeks after the event because the batteries are not encased individually as with the “Leaf”. To wrap it up, the proud owner is not showing how he/she cares about the planet, just showing complete lack of respect for their money. Thats why government is so involved in production and purchasing. There is no respect for your money. Nice looking car though. Just a horrible investment.
