The federal NDP is clearly taking its Western Canadian supporters for granted. How else would you explain this?
If you were a journalist, what questions would you ask of NDP MPs in BC?

The only principle that works is where all ridings have about the same number of voters. Anything else undermines the foundations of democracy.
When an election doesn’t go the way I like, I still agree to live with the results since I am given an equal vote like everyone else. But make my vote count for less than others and I don’t feel as bound to live with the results. The social contract is subverted.
It beggars belief that the NDP do not recognize the stupidity of their move.
I would rather see the same number of seats, than add 30. If all or most come from Paybec? Oh well.
I think its the “Harper Regime”s master plan to try and win all the seats and even take some from the NDP
the horror , the horror
We have Libby to protect us . . she’d never let an anti democratic election rigging scheme victimize BCers.
Never. Because Libby is a fighter for Electoral Justice.
As Mark Steyn famously wrote: “The future belongs to those who populate it.”
If Quebec cares so little about its future that it’s pure laine are unwilling to reproduce … their future is already in the rear-view mirror.
Did anyone really believe it would be otherwise when the Dippers took Quebec? The “nation?” of the perpetually aggrieved appear to think they must ALWAYS have their filthy hands on the levers of power in this country. I can’t wait for the Dippers to start screaming for proportional representation.
Why does math have to be so hard?
// Saskatchewanians’ votes are worth 1.39 of the national average, while neighbouring Albertans’ are worth just 0.92 — a 50% discrepancy. //
A scandal to be sure.
Perhaps, like the CWB tussle, they are represented according to acreage per person.
1. Will you vote for a leadership candidate who believes that the Province of Quebec deserves “special status” within the Canadian Government?
If the answer is yes, the followup is
2. Would you explain what exactly gives Quebec “special status” over provinces such as Nova Scotia and Ontario, two of the original provinces along with Quebec, at Confederation?
If there is some blustering about Quebec the “nation”
3. Given that the physical territory of Quebec was formally recognized as belonging to Britain from 1763 until it bacame part of Canada in 1867, what is the basis for the Province of Quebec being a nation distinct from Canada?
Those are my questions to your BC NDP MPs, Robert.
My suggestion: House of Commons, 1 person=1 vote proportionate seating, plus the EEE Senate.
Canadians could do worse than to reform the Constitution along the lines of the Australian Constitution.
Perhaps compensation paid to MP’s should be $1.00 per person in the riding. If this were the case, there might be better appetite for fair representation.
Harper must tell Quebecers the politically correct version of ,”go to Hell” on this,Quebec doesn’t need any more seats.
But then Quebec has never wanted equality with the rest of Canada, they want to be treated as a little MORE than equal, and they have been for as long as I can remember.
The NDP has been showing their true colours since their election surprise,Westerners have to massively reject these political whores next time around.
Quebec has gotten used to having federal governments kissing their butts in exchange for votes and seats. They are having a tough time grasping the fact the current government may not need them and they ARE NOT SPECIAL. Sucks being you…….
If they make an issue of this than take away 30 seats from Quebec.
You can’t yell for an anti-constitutional move, than hide behind the same.
Dave in Pa,
The problem is that here in Canada you need the consent of seven provinces with 75% of the population to amend the Constitution. In other words, a fat chance in hell.
I propose we hand all these unbalanced Saskatchewan seats back to Parliament, and they can gift them to the Quebec Nation within a Nation.
Gosh, the Knee-Dippers might well “self-immolate” over this issue and even end up as some sort of ersatz Bloc Québécois.
Should we be so lucky!
I guess the NDP’ers in the ROC didn’t get the memo announcing that the NDP has changed its name to the “New Democratic Quebec Party”.
