    I’m no fan of Obama (or the UN Human Rights Council, but I digress…), but in this specific example he seems to be pissing off the right people. Plus, there were a few hundred people at that rally, and there are enough career activists around to get that many people out protesting against motherhood or apple pie.

  13. @Ben: Muslims comprise about 8% of the population in Sri Lanka, so I don’t believe the UN censure was directed at them, but rather the majority/governing Buddhists……this incident is simply Muslims supporting Muslims against ‘the Crusaders’ and the actualities of the situation are immaterial to them.

  20. Those dudes stomping on Obama’s image would most likely be Gaddafi supporters. You can tell this because the photo was taken in Libya, and those stomping his face are wearing green. Gaddafi would be the horrific dictator the vast majority of Libyans would like to see unseated.

    IMO it’s more a case of a pro-Gaddafi group being upset at Obama for being anti-Gaddafi, which is hardly news at all, especially seeing as how there don’t seem to have been very many of them protesting. Also, does anyone know why the slideshow’s title is “Anti-government protests in Libya” while the picture’s caption is “Sri Lankan Muslims beat and stamp on effigy”?
