These remarks make sense when you are a “proud member of the political class”.
I just returned to Canada after a two month trip. It’s gives me a wonderful lighthearted feeling to see the federal Liberals continuing along with a buffoon at the helm. They deserve much credit for inventing the recipe that gives them such a continuous line of dolts. Fantastic and fun to watch!
Liberal arrogance, squared.
Of course there is no Liberal plan because they make stuff as they go along depending on what they perceive to be popular. They don’t write red books anymore because they have no intention of living by anything they say or promise. As long as their friends get rich and their ring gets kissed by the taxpaying plebes all is good in Liberal-la-la-land.
It would help to comment on Matt’s article to counter the Liberals that have made comment.
The Liberal party has had no values since 1968 other than wherever the progressive wind blows.
Furthermore, Mr. Iffy should get rid of the two Marxists who sit in the Liberal Foreign Affairs and Defense shadow cabinet posts. Canada does not have a Venezuela style government, yet.
I’d like to square Mr Ignatieff too.
I laugh at the theatrics and spasi show biz pimping these Liberals engage in trying to sell this stilted globalist as a home boy.
Igg and his party represent no one other than their insider corporate clients and rapacious globalism.
Iggy channels that message in his every fiber. He isn’t fooling anyone.
Iggy is a symptom – not the cause – of the Liberal Party’s irrelevance.
The Liberals started to rot when they elected pseudo wannbe Commie rich boy Turdeau as their leader.
Like fish, the rot starts at the head and goes down the body.
Unlike fish, the Liberal Party Rot has stayed pretty much in the head. The leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada defines corruption, arrogance, stupidity, vanity and just plain old fashioned stupid.
The Liberanos . . .
Mr Ignatieff doesn’t seem to understand it was one of his own, Frank Graves, who invoked the idea of a culture war. Harper and CPC didn’t just make it up (like the Grits do with comments about our “international reputation”).
Mr Ignatieff complains about Harper trying to divide Canadians as he uses wedge issues such as abortion to gain favour with his big city constituency.
Ah yes, day care to help aging boomers and restore our international stature. Yes, bizarre is a good description. Even hard core Liberal Linda Diebel noted he presented no new policies (and nothing resembling a coherent platform) at his cheerleading session.
Perhaps this is a signal of impending election; one can only hope.
Good thing Ziggy’s not from Japan – it’s the inverse there. The longer your away the less Japanese u become.
He’d have a lot better luck if they’d countered the just visiting ad with a Doug ‘n Bob ‘n Iggy Mackenzie skit. Howz it goin’ eh?
Canada: You’re doing it wrong.
I like the part where the “problems” Iggy listed aren’t solved by his “solutions”.
The reason Liberals have to dance so fast is because they know everything they want to do is bad for the country. Its good for -them- of course, just not for anyone else.
I think the important thing is how this relates to their policy of demonization.
If you disagree with the ridiculous notion they will say you should move south and vote for Palin.
When you come back you will still not be the type of Canadian they like because they are endophobic bigots who don’ty like real Canadians thats the only reason they would dream of saying the american is a better Canadian.
Now who knows what universities in Rhode Island are offering tenure?
I like the part where the “problems” Iggy listed aren’t solved by his “solutions”.
ditto,
These guys have no answers. All Iggy can do is spout vacuous truisms and bleed into his shoes while waiting for graves and the CBC to cobble up some kind of deal changing scandal.
He could become a REALLY good Canadian by simply going away again.
“Restoring our international reputation”?!
What utter bullsh**! Do the leaders of your favourite Countries,Zimbabwe,Libya,Cuba,China, worry about THEIR “international reps”,Michael?
Quit worrying about the perception of outsiders who don’t matter in the scheme of things, and pay attention to the problems we have right here that need to be addressed.
Micheal, if you are truly concerned about Canada’s reputation, quit bashing our soldiers, let the “detainee” issue die the natural death it deserves, and re-open the Gomery inquiry if you’re ever elected PM, and root out the corruption endemic in the Canadian political system.
And as to being MORE Canadian, there are millions of us whose ancestors fought in two World Wars for this Country that might disagree with your definition of “Canadianness”.
So … someone who, as a babe in arms, was moved to another country and had barely even heard of Canada, would be, like, the most Canadian of all?
Like some unpalatable, foreign-like Timdrink, Iggy just gets awesommer!
Iggy is not ‘totally awesome’. He is only ‘partially awesome’. I’m not sure which part, though.
Hey an “Einstein-ianism”, here is another:

One must be careful about that formula. Agreed, m is
minuscule, but e is large, so the result could be
a large value for C.
Duke Michael really should pay attention to world
affairs. It is obvious that other countries take
Canada under Stephen Harper seriously, for the first time in a generation.
Trudeau was regarded in Europe as a
dilettante and Mulroney, Chretien and Martin simply
didn’t exist.
Pravda’s comment last week that “Russian Duke craves power
in Canada” is right on the mark. Duke Michael’s
weird cavortings and arrogant clueless statements are
almost beginning to give me a spark of sympathy
with the Russian Revolution, which ousted his family and relatives.
When I think of IGGY this always comes to mind. With a mental chuckle.
I figure he’s handicapped from living in the Trudeau ERA still.Living the glory of a youth long gone. Living in Ottawa is no antidote. Its a alien land as well.
That reflects nothing Canadian but rather a den of thieves.
IGGY in a tree
Q: How do you get a one-armed Liberal out of a tree?
A: Wave to him.
JMO
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Sorry, I couldn’t think of anything else to say other than laughing.
The Count of Iggy is a complete joke, he’s a laugh every minute his mouth is open spouting utterances of no consequence or importance. The professor branched out into a realm he had never studied and expects people to support his rambling thoughts which lead to nowhere. He’s a good example of a nowhere man, no ideas, no direction, no clue.
This is another side to the liberal immigration fetish that makes it necessary to bring in a lot of more interesting people to replace the dull native-born Canadian hosers.
Iggy is missing and the CBC is worse than ever. I’m beginning to think the question ‘are we biased’ they took as a roadmap to increase aggravation. Of course the bias just becomes more apparent.
“Iggy is a symptom – not the cause – of the Liberal Party’s irrelevance.”
I agree with Gord.
The cause is simple: voters in Ontario!
“Ideas” are not a requirement when your soul objective whilst voting is to maintain the status-quo. Voters in Ontario have been bailing water off the deck of the rudderless Liberal ship for years with little or no regard for the direction it’s pulling Canada.
It’s despicable!
While living a while outside of Canada can make you appreciate the things Canada has (or hasn’t), there is a point where the only thing about being Canadian that can be said is it is handy to get you on a flight out of Lebanon when needed.
Count Iggy’s “Canadianism” is only a nice to have tick mark in his intellectual global world. It is kind of like having a Harvard Law degree; more points for his CV.
Iggy is nothing more than a Grinning Dunce.
To paraphrase Tom Petty “Iggy is a loser at the top of his game”.
The Count really is an ass-clown…His utterances just drip with insincerity, and entitlement… Time for the foriegn Count to stop imposing his desire for a cultural war in Canada, jump in his De lorean, gun it to 88 miles an hour and set the controls for 1968. It must be terribly exhausting for Iggiot, trying to deal with all of us lesser Canadians.
Iggy is still living outside of Canada, he’s between Toronto and Ottawa most of the time.
This is what really matters, we might do worse than to have an intelligent person who worked outside Canada in government. Like Mark Steyn!
count Ibrowz personifies the most worthless creature anywheres–elitist, twisted, intl control freaks.
I prefer Dionkey, at least for the laffs
Ah, what’s to be said about Iggy?
Ah … nothing.
They’ve definitely already started the ‘cultural war’. their media arse-kissers are doing the Liberal’s bidding, trying to make abortion an issue in the media.
Those of us who lived our lives in Alberta or northern B.C. must be truly Canadian because to Ignatief and most of the other Liberals in Ottawa don’t really consider us as Canadians anyway. Actually, anyone west of the Manitoba/Ontario boundary don’t count as Canadians.
Like most university knobs, Iggy’s comfort zone in front of a class of vapid 20 year olds who are in total awe of their brilliant and ant-establishment professors with all those new and spiffy adjectives and metaphors.

So if I follow you correctly…redneck western canadians are considered in Liberal circles to be un-Canadian.
C=Me2 qualifies as more Canadian due to his absence from Canada.
Since redneck western canadians are both un-Canadian while still residing within the boundaries of Canada, does this not make us more Canadian?
By an order of magnitude?
In Liberal terms.

C=Me2-
Love it-
great political mathematical comparison!
I still think we Americans have a lock on political stupidity.
We have a congressman resigning after giving an interview with a good looking babe-
Telling the world that everyone should practice ‘Sexual Abstinence.’
Only problem is-
He was having sex with her before/after the ‘Sexual Abstinence’ video was made.
Another Senator want-to-be- told the world he served with me in the jungles and bunkers of Vietnam fighting off the North Vietnamese invading hoard.
Now we find out he only has a jungle hat and a video of ‘Full Metal Jacket.’
Be Advised, Be Advised-
these political clowns will shoot you a line of Shiite.
Might be nice if you westerners were a little bit more accepting of like thinking Ontarians. We don’t all live in Tyranna or vote Librano, you know. Otherwise, might as well Balkanize, eh? Egalitarian Canada has plenty of idiots on either side of Manitoba’s eastern border, after all.
I have read comments about leaving the country to get a better perspective about the country. I wonder what all the Easterners living in the west would have to say about The East? I’m sure most of their opinions have changed drastically about The West which shows in voting since there hasn’t been a Liaberel elected here in Alberta for years!
and moving from the east to the west is like moving to a new country no?
