The Law Of Clintonian Consequences

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
August 2003 [In] August 1993, when Congress passed Clinton’s Vaccines for Children program. The plan, promoted by the Children’s Defense Fund, was to use federal power to ensure universal immunization. So the government agreed to purchase a third of the national vaccine supply (the President and Mrs. Clinton had pushed for 100 percent) at a forced discount of half price, then distribute it to doctors to deliver to the poor and the un- and under-insured. As a result: Where 30 years ago, 25 companies produced vaccines for the U.S. market., today only five remain, and there is only one producer for a number of critical shots. Recent years have brought shortages of numerous vaccines, including those for whooping cough, diphtheria and chicken pox.
October 2009Where is the H1N1 vaccine manufactured? There were four manufacturers’ products approved for use by the US FDA and CDC:Melbourne-based CSL Ltd.; Novartis AG based in Basel, Switzerland; Sanofi Pasteur of Sanofi-Aventis SA, based in Paris; and MedImmune, LLC, the Maryland US based Subsidiary of London’s AstraZeneca.

  1. I thought I read recently that some of the H1N1 vaccine was made in China. If so, a strong motivation to pass on the shot, no?

  2. Who cares about children getting immunization! Has Hedy Fry gotten hers yet? I demand immediate action!
Really though, this is no surprise. You wouldn’t believe the number of Americans who no longer want to invest in their own country because of this type of Clintonian, Pelosi, Obamessiah actions that are destroying the US

  3. Perhaps in a similar vein, might not the new and improved Health Care Reform in the US, as designed by (well, perhaps not) the great BO himself, serve to decimate the health care system in the same manner that Bubba blew out the vaccine manufacturers?

  4. I’m not sure how this action by clinton caused the consolidation. It appears that the same consolidation occured pretty-much around the globe.

  5. I don’t understand you folks. Perhaps we Canadians can take part in this windfall of companies and smart, entrepreneurial people leaving the US. If we change how we do business, these people and companies can move here. Now instead of getting the cowards (ie. the draft dodgers) we’ll actually get useful people from the US.

  6. The reason most vaccine manufacturers exited the business was the free-market insurers refused to provide coverage at any price. Why do you think that would be?
The remaining manufacturers have blanket coverge (and a mandated market at a very profitable per dose price) provided by the state.
By the rationale of “public health necessity” many hundreds of thousands of people and their healthcare providers and legal counsel are totaly convinced they were harmed by vaccines.
I would go so far as to argue that the use of statistics by the vaccine crowd is the model the Global Warming/Climate Change crowd emulate.
In fact the correaltions between smoking and cancer (and certainly between second hand smoke and cancer) are at least an order of magnitude less than the same correlations between many suspected vaccine induced injuries. (Autism, MS, Guillane-Barre etc.)
The booga booga provided on the news about swine flu, coupled with the bizarre roll outs are only serving to induce more herd behavior and panic. Lemmings going over the cliff is the image I had seeing the news coverage from Toronto yesterday. Whoever decided to have three outlets dispensing vaccine at three locations in a Metropolitan area of 5 million people should be fired. Of course he/she won’t be, they’ll get a bonus…we haven’t had such a great marketing coup since Wii, since PS3, since Tickle Me Elmo, since…never mind…

  7. I’m just finishing Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged and the parallels between that prescient novel and the events of our day are astonishing.

  8. Outstanding that you recovered this bit of buried history, Kate. Wish the mainstream media would pick up on this as an example of how government can’t be trusted to run healthcare.
A side note — I recall that during the first year of the Vaccines for Children’s program, virtually all the vaccine purchased by the U.S. government had spoiled due to improper storage in an (unrefridgerated?) warehouse in New Jersey. Resulted in a critical U.S. children’s vaccine shortage right out of the box. And this was truly a liberal, democratic program sponsored by Hillary Clinton.

  12. Forgot to mention, that I do believe timerosal and squalene are poisonous, but I am also an honest man and do fact checking. There is no Grorge Mamouzellos at UOSA.

  13. “There is no Grorge Mamouzellos at UOSA.”
Kind of irrelevant. People claiming to have bachelor’s degrees from UOSA generally aren’t employed at same.
At any rate it’s still some random guy with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. No more qualified to tell you not to get vaccinated than whomever happens to be working at your local Wal-Mart pharmacy.

  14. > Kind of irrelevant.
Well, not so irrelevant as you might think.
Someone, putting university name into their signature to boost credibility is expected to have connection to that organization. Being former student is not a sufficient connection.
In plain English, it’s a lie. The guy is a liar and soon will earn a mention @ Snopes.

  15. I hate to poison the debate with credible sources…but, google Mercola.com +swine flu (arguably the bigget natural health website in the world run by an osteopath with thousands of patients)….the point I want to make is that what passes for science in the pro vaccine world SHOULD be on Snopes. What anyones chooses to do with their body is their business. I smoke but will only be vaccinated at the point of a gun. Individual choice in the cost/benefit transaction is what freedom is supposed to be all about. I keep trying to point out that “public health” in an advanced society is a precondition of slavery. Everything that anyone has ever believed in regarding individual rights is sacrificed on this politicaly correct alter.
Until I see autopsies with titers of H1N1 in the lethal range and as the undeniable cause of death I remain a sceptic. Until every single case is confirmed with a lab test more explicit than “flu like symptoms” I will remain a sceptic. If you thing GWB was a good guy and not a crook that is your right (I disagree…but do think he was a far better choice than Kerry or Gore) however when you are trying to make a potentialy serious point about a people’s health based on Obama’s (or Harper’s)policy you’re in loopy land.
Bush’s medicade bill is an UNFUNDED multi trillion dollar gift to pharma and big insurance, Obama’s fix is just more of the same. There is no free market for healthy people, just lies and gated choices.

  16. “Mamouzellos” The guy is total hooey.
The real point should be is this flu is much less aggressive than other strains of the flu and is being hyped to market the vaccine.
The death rates of H1N1 are much lower than from the “regular” flu.

  17. Yet another pitiful performance by Warren Kinsella on Power Play, trying to blame the government of the day for tragic deaths due to H1N1.
    Count the popularity of the LIberals … 26, 25, 24, 23, 22 …
Keep up the good work, Warren.

  18. It seems unfair to (in 2003), complain about the effects of something ten years previous (1993) by comparing with the state of affairs 30 years previous (1973).
It would be interesting to see the delta in vaccine companies from 1993 onwards, if one is interested in the effects of the vaccine program in question.
But comparing with 20 additional years in front of it, with no mention of how many of the 20 vanished companies vanished before the bill was ever even sponsored, well… that’s pretty shoddy.
(I can’t imagine a forced discount program could have a positive effect on production, but the disparity between ten years and thirty automatically makes me think someone’s stretching for a connection that ain’t there – 25 competitors in vaccine production seems awfully high, all things considered, and I’m willing to bet that most of the vanished 20 were gone before 1993, and not because of Clinton’s stupid price-fixing scheme.)

  19. A lib writer at the NP did an op ed saying something akin to the “Libs should use swine flu as an issue to make Harper look bad and lo and behold the Gob and CBC front pages peppered with anti-Harper/swine flu articles. Now it’s Harper’s job to ensure the provinces health experts do their jobs what’s next pap smears by him personally. Frankly I find it sickening that the libs and NDP are playing politics with ill and dying people.
The Swine Flu is a prime example of why socialized/rationed healthcare doesn’t work. Harper should bravely stand in Parliment and suggest that we open up Canada for private healthcare that would allow enough healthcare professionals and available vaccines for all Canadians for the next non-pandemic. I have noted the left are bleating about line ups, what they don’t want to stand in line with the unwashed masses and partake of rationed healthcare?

  20. I am a also a qualified pharmacist, pediatrist, phrenologist, and reflexologist. I met George Mamouzellos while we were both traveling to a conference on the Hindenburg, and he is a total quack! Trust me, I am making claims on the Internet, and nobody ever makes things up or tells falsehoods on the Internet. I have been practicing and teaching pharmacy for close to 100 years now, so you can take everything I say as the absolute truth.

  21. If the population is decimated, that only means one in ten. Hope this expression used to mean almost completely wiped out is completely wiped out.

  22. I think the H1N1 is being massively over-hyped. This leads to the government having to look like they are doing something if they want o get reelected.
If people are already getting the virus, isn’t it too late to start an immunization program. By the time the immunization takes effect, which is about ten weeks from what I understand, won’t this whole thing have blown over?
Vaccines have been around for a long time, I think the only difference between this flu vaccine and flu vaccines from thirty years ago is the type of virus in it. If that is the case saying that it hasn’t been tested is crap.

  23. Mamouzellos might well have a degree from the University of South Australia. It seems to me that it is something of a degree mill that has been blanketing the Maritime provinces with Education “Ph.D.”s for several years.

  24. If the population is decimated, that only means one in ten. Hope this expression used to mean almost completely wiped out is completely wiped out.

OMG….somebody else who knows the ACTUAL meaning of the word decimated!
Oh…..and did you all know that 4000 CONFIRMED deaths from H1N1 cases have occured in China? Ummmmmm……4000 out of 1 billion is….damn. Calculator doesn’t go to that many places after the zero.

  25. “I find it sickening that the libs and NDP are playing politics with ill and dying people”
What’s new with that bunch of losers.
running around causing panic and hyping what is really a non-issue.
H1N1 is a joke of a flu, they have to take it back to the lab. and try again if genocide is their real intention.
But it’s not, selling their vaccine is.
It’s not a natural occurring virus it has been manufactured.
Politicians, media and panic are their salesmen.

  26. Lafayette, “close to a 100 years” eh, that’s even longer than the federal reserve bank in the U.S. has been running that country.
Sure your not really Woodrow Wilson too?

  27. About 6 years ago I got a flu shot and reacted. It wasn’t bad but about 4 hours after I went home for the day. The next day I just had the sore arm. The next year the PH nurse said there were no problems in the preceeding year. I said I reacted and she scoffed. Other people also said they reacted to that particular vaccine. I have had others with the usual sore arm and it took about 4 years to admit it was a bad vaccine. It wasn’t that bad a reaction but I sure didn’t like the attempt to shine me on. Life is risk/reward.
Neo I think prisoners should get it first but for a different reason than the gov’t owes them good healthcare but not the general public. They should get it first to see if they survive.

  28. But comparing with 20 additional years in front of it, with no mention of how many of the 20 vanished companies vanished before the bill was ever even sponsored, well… that’s pretty shoddy.
Shoddy, yeah, but that’s what you gotta do
if you’re appealing to the freemarket
    fundamentalist, angry right fringe.

  29. so.
a precipitous drop in the number of suppliers post vaccines for children.
when in the ^%$#&#6 ^$&#^@# !!!!! are politishuns going to learn to play devil’s advocate with their pet legislation? you know, check for loopholes and just *maybe* root out some of those unintended consequences? hmmmm ???
put you hand up if you’ve ever heard of that happening.and I don’t mean those public input sessions. that’s just to appease the masses. think Im exaggerating? what about the unintentional consequence of the privacy act which brought a staggering increase in misdirected mail because the only one that can correct it is the guy no longer living at that address. I run a rental property and have learned first hand how impossible it is the get the message thru to the bill collectors, coupon mailers, goubbamint departments et al that so-and-so DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE.
    etc etc.
    they ALL do it.

  30. “But comparing with 20 additional years in front of it, with no mention of how many of the 20 vanished companies vanished before the bill was ever even sponsored, well… that’s pretty shoddy.”
I provide links for a reason.
The panel of doctors and economists issuing a report on vaccines last week identified as a fundamental cause of the problem the fact that the government purchases 55 percent of the childhood vaccine market at forced discount prices. The result has been “declining financial incentives to develop and produce vaccines.”
That panel was from the National Academy of Science’s Institute of Medicine

  31. I smoke but will only be vaccinated at the point of a gun. Until I see autopsies with titers of H1N1 in the lethal range and as the undeniable cause of death I remain a sceptic.
Posted by: peter at October 30, 2009 4:25 PM
And yet you smoke, how curious. Truly, autopsies DO show smoking as the cause of death. In fact, in B.C. aren’t cigarette retailers required to post “smoking kills 1 out of 2 smokers”? I suppose you don’t believe that, either. Hmm.
H1N1 may not be killing as MANY as other influenza A strains, but it’s killing children and young adults, as well as pregnant women. That’s unusual. Also, “titres in the lethal range”? Weird. Cardiac myopathy seems to be cause of death in some of these children. Does that count?

  32. Everything about this flu is stupid – the hysteria, the objections to the vaccine, the overblown risk – it’s enough to drive a man to blog again – I am awash in a tide of stupid – must…swim…toward…shore…

  33. Healthy adults DO NOT need any flu vaccine.
Except those with other health risks like asthma and heart and lung disease probably Aids but the vaccine might be to much for them?.
From what I can find out the flu vaccine doesn’t even work on seniors.
The real issue should be that H1N1 has been manufactured and is not a “naturally occurring” virus anyway. There’s enough proof of that to warrant an investigation as far as I’m concerned.
They know this virus inside and out and it has been man made.

  34. isn’t one of the rule of economics – all attempts to manipulate the market artificially will fail in play here?

  35. “… all attempts to manipulate the market artificially will fail in play here?”
not that I know anything of Marketing but the rules may not apply when government’s are the one’s making the purchase?
Who would pay a thousand dollars for a toilet seat in the real world?

  36. There is something very odd about this whole swine flu or H1N1 pandemic. My daughter brought home a pamphlet stating that it is being called a pandemic because this is a never seen b4 flu virus, but then in the next breath it states that the virus has been renamed H1N1 as opposed to swine flu not because the flue virus has changed, but to comply with WHO protocol.
The swine flu first came on the scene in 1979, so it has been seen b4. Only one person died from the flu then, but 28 contracted Lou Gehrig’s from the shot.
Personally, I believe the pandemic is nothing short of a planned emergency response trial to see how effectively or how quickly countries are able to react to a real future threat that could occur from a biological warfare attack(Emergency Response Exercise.
I am also wondering why there have been published articles stating that persons born b4 1957 are already immune. If this is a never been seen b4 virus, this group should not be immune either.
The vaccine has not gone through the regular trial for a drug or vaccine to be approved, therefore anyone who gets the shot is a bonified human guinea pig.
The pandemic also serves a secondary purpose: the monetary and other strains on the health care system this “pandemic” is inevitably causing, can be used to justify further changes to the American and Canadian health care systems.
“Something” just is not right, can not put my finger on it. I also noted that there was a 2 year, widely publized and reported in the media, lead in that we were “due” for a pandemic b4 swine flue came on the scene which was strikingly similiar of a hollywood promotion for a new movie release. It all just seems so contrived.
