Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Big stirrings PMSH said he wanted a majority. Oh my who knew? That just proves the guy that put our economy in better shape than most had a secret agenda. He wanted a majority! That must be bad.
I want a conservative majority to!
in both houses.
I didn’t realize that a party leader wanting to form a majority is a bad thing, or even newsworthy for that matter.
Kate: some choice quotes from Gerry Nicholls
“Ignatieff, like Dion before him, can’t seem to top the Conservatives in the polls, even though the country is in recession and even though Prime Minister Stephen Harper has all the personal magnetism of a cucumber.”
Of course Laureen, Stephen’s wife thinks he has more personal magnetism than a cucumber. I’m sure she is preparing a tossed cucumber salad for tonight’s dinner. Naturally the cucumber salad is so popular it has resulted in at least 144 MPs across Canada.
“Ignatieff lost credibility when after issuing all kinds of Clint-Eastwood-style tough talk about bringing down the government over EI reform, he meekly backed down at the last minute.”
Everyone likes Clint-Eastwood-style talk, surely he is asking Iggy, “Are you feeling lucky?”
‘The technical political science term for such behaviour is “wimping out.”‘
“The other serious problem Ignatieff faces is that he has virtually no policies to offer voters.
To energize his MPs, the Liberal leader recently announced he would no longer support the Conservative government, meaning we could have an election this fall.
And this bold gamble has energized Liberals. That’s the good news; the bad news is what’s energizing them is stark terror.”
I thought everybody likes the good old spaghetti westerns. Maybe we can call the “Good, Bad and the Ugly” election.
Yep, where is all the Adscam gold? Looks like its gonna be a helluva shoot em up!

When Ignatieff does force the election, look for Western Canada to vote overwhelmingly against him.
Toronto will, as always, support the Liberal Party. The only way the Libs could lose the Toronto vote would be to run George Bush as their leader,so we’ll probably have another minority Conservative government,as the Maritimes go Lib, Quebec goes Bloc, and most of the ROC goes Conservative.
Western independence,anyone?
Apparently, the Bank of Canada has stated that Canada is recovering even more rapidly. This will provide more impetus for the liarberals to try to force an election to save us from the incompetent CPC. Certainly not because the liarberals are seeing their chances rapidly slipping away.
Ralph Goodale called the recession the “Conservative Recession”, I can see him now decrying the “Conservative Recovery”! Yeah, right. Any recovery will be attributed to a global recovery but the recession? That was conservative doings.
dmorris, sign me up!
Just got this news flash from Vancouvers most populat AM Radio station.
“CKNW Breaking News…
Prime Minster Mulroney has appointed B-C Court of Appeal Justice Robert Bauman as the new Chief Justice of the B-C Supreme Court. Bauman replaces Donald Brenner who resigned earlier this year.
Sent at 7:45am ”
Of course the error was corrected quickly. Oh well; typing skills you know>
What a desperate pack of pricks with a prig for a leader or pseudo leader, whatever. Of course the PM wants to win and winning a majority would be the ideal. As long as we don’t have a majority the desperate for power Liberals will be threatening to bring down the government and we’ll be having elections every year, hell maybe even every six months.
Liberals have lost their freaking minds, they are not fit to govern.
Ignatieff: “The real Harper always comes out when he thinks he can’t be heard.”
Yeah – like when he’s speaking into a microphone in front of a large audience.
And the unravelling of the Obama regime in the USA is filtering down to many of Canadians who watch Fox News and/or read our news on the internet (No body watches CeeBeeCee/SeeTeeVeh or mainstream media if they are interested in facts? ).
The Liberals are probably worried that some of their supporters might be seeing the 0 in a different, less thigh – tingling, light. The msm and the liberals/dippers/blocheads are big supporters of the new regime in the USA – gushing supportive. The disintegration of the ‘This Moment’ guy, can only bring misfortune to his fan club. The liberals might be thinking of cutting their losses with an election, before things get worse.
EBD @ 4:23 – Good one. For an intellectual, Ig sure is stupid.

In other news, no one wants an election.
That’s old news, however.
The idea of a Conservative majority shouldn’t be a shock to anyone anymore.
Just as the idea that the NDP, LPT (Liberal Party of Toronto) and the Bloc could coalesce.
Not a shock.
The Libs are nowhere near having all their ducks in a row for an election in early Oct. Harper might find a way to force their hand as early as Sept 17th. How will the nervous nellies vote then ?
Their quarterly subsidy for the $1.95 gets paid on Sept 30th. Airlines want CASH up front before they hold a plane for you. TV networks want CASH up front before they run tv ads for you.
Harper won’t operate on Iggy’s timetable. He’s got the full court press pretty well all figured out, and rookie Iggy will be in many tough spots right away, when Parliament resumes.
100’s of lame obvious comments at that CBC link…
What is the CBC?
I have a feeling that it is a sink hole for our tax monies that is really an arm of the LPC!
Note to Liberals:
It is not your leaders, it is your incoherent and ill conceived policies. Re-wrapping them with a tag that says “Merry Christmas from Iggy” will not fix your party’s structural short comings.
Note to Conservatives:
Think majority, after we get it send a thank-you card to Iggy. No need to be rude.
Don’t rule out that Count Iggy is counting on forcing an election and forming The Coalition with Jack&Gill so he can be pm because he can do better than Dion.
Yea Iggy
Every Canadian who walks into the corner store to buy a lottery ticket hopes he only matches five numbers instaed of all six because he or she would rather have the smaller prize than the million dollar prize.
And Whako Talibano Jacko don’t want power…..sure
dmorris,
Just a little reminder that recent seat trends show Alberta losing a seat for the Tories to the socialists; meanwhile, greater Toronto went the other way and gained a seat for the Tories – not to mention the enormous swing in popular vote towards the Tories in both the Toronto and the province of Ontario.
Not to want to be picky, but is it just me or is the LPC leader as dorky as he appears both in public and on air?
That guy’s body language and grimaces posing as good time smiles could drop flies dead in a closed room.
Pull yourself together Mikey and quit trying so hard to be natural.
Two questions I’d pay to see someone from MSM ask Count Igula:
Do you want a majority?
Do you love your country?
(Granted, they may have to clarify the second question.)
I’m a bit confused here. So saying that a Lieberal minority government would have to be propped up by socialists (the NDP) and separatists (the Bloc) is somehow “spiteful”? And this is a bit ta doo? btw, since when has calling separatists and socialists, separatists and socialists a bad (or untrue)thing?
I hate to but iggy’s bubble but a “secretly taped” speach by the PM is hardly in the catagory of Acorngate, Watergate or even wafergate. Sorry, this isn’t the 17 minutes of missing tape.
Poor Iggbert – his plaintive bawling just makes him ever more the gurlyman. I know he’s suppose to fake emotions he doesn’t feel etc – but try for originality’s sake to find something that’s halfway relevant. It’s pitiful dude…the Edmond FitzIggy

Ignatieff Caption Contest: Winners!
Wow – what a response. With 129 entries, you should probably check out the whole thread, as there’s no way I can pick “the best” without leaving some really good ones out. (That said, I left some really bad ones out, too.)
First goes to: Richfisher
“But only after giving serious consideration to gouging his own eyes out, did Michael submit, and run for the leadership.”
Second: Dave Balderstone – “No, really… If you squint just right, they look just like PET’s!”
Third: NCF TO – “This thumb represents my left-hand shield – I call it ‘Rae’. The other thumb represents my right-hand shield – I call it ‘Scottie Boy’. When the shooting stops, I will drop these shields and reveal, for all of you little people to see: the next Liberal leader!”
Honourable Mentions:
Bernie: “Iggy de Sade, decides to go with thumbscrews”.
Trodwel: “Michael Ignatieff reveals what puts him head and shoulders above the other candidates for the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada: Opposable thumbs.”
john demerais – “i’m gonna do my toenails the same shade of pinko”
Thanks for playing.

Two things:
1. Norm spector reminds us that iggy said that he thought the coalition was a dumb idea (even though he voted for it) but he was prepared to entertain “ALTERNATE arrangements”
2. In response to the Harper speech iggy is quoted as saying the following:
“I don’t think there’s been a socialist in the NDP for 30 years!”
and regarding the bloc
“I don’t treat them as separatists!”
…
Please, please please let there be an election – iggy and company will get demolished.
Oops, forgot to put in source attribution for the above: spector was in the G&m today
and the iggy quotes came from the Rutherford show and Proud to be Canadian blog.

Stephen Harper is such a big meanie. I mean … couldn’t he have come out and stated that he would prefer to come out of the election with a reduced minority? Or better yet … a Liberal minority? No. He has to say that he wants a majority. The nerve of the man! His lust for power knows no bounds.
I will have to ponder this latest revelation about PMSH’s character. In the meantime, I will continue to hound my MP about axing the CBC toute de suite.
He says there are two Stephen Harpers, so I guess the score then is
Harper 2, Ignatieff 0.
Here is a good post from Jaon Tintors blog back in 06 that compiles quite a number of quotes from the Canadian MSM simply enamoured with the idea of a 200 seat PAul Martin Juggernaut.
http://joantintor.blogspot.com/2006/01/juggernot.html
We now have wimpy Iggy admitting he’s only half the man…
Now’s the time to post the names of all those Canadian’s who have Swiss bank accounts .
Whereas Harper would like to have a majority, Michael Imastiff would be satisfied simply with a “Participant” ribbon.
You know, every time these liberal idiots start yapping about a coalition gov’t, I start talking about seperation. I don’t care what the legalities are – if you liberal chitballs are going to govern as a coalition/abortion – then you run as one too in the election.
I am sick and tired of eastern corruption, the politically correct homosexual/atheist/fwench soap operas and all the eastern crap that has come to define ‘Canada’.
Harper isn’t the only one that has become bitter and spiteful of ‘Canadian’ institutions like the liberal party, the NDFP and the CBFC.
biffjr: “No. He has to say that he wants a majority. The nerve of the man! His lust for power knows no bounds.”
No wonder he kept the agenda hidden for so long. Who could live with the shame of everyone knowing you wanted – I can hardly bring myself to utter these dreadful words – a majority. Oh! the humanity.
If there’s 2 Harpers, which Michael Ig-nazi-ef’s are we getting? The American, the Brit, the Canadian, or the worst one a University professor?
The corgis would just like to make it clear that CBC does not stand for anything corgi related.
what can I say but
CBCpravda
All Liberal ALL THE TIME
“He treats every adversary as a public enemy who has to be destroyed, so you wonder why it’s difficult for me to continue to support him?” Ignatieff said.
Were you looking in the mirror when you said that Iggy? And NO I don’t wonder anything. You’re a Buffoon.
Put me down among those Canadians the MSM speaks for.
I am shocked! Not to mention appalled! (Any other NDP tactics you’d like to add, go ahead)
A majority? Who does this guy think he is?
Getting rid of the gun registry? Shocking!
How un-Canadian to be so ambitious.
Socialists? Separatists?
How dare the speak the truth?
It’s simply not true that the Really, Really New Democrats have ever send delegates to the Socialist International.
Canadians from coast to coast, especially in Quebec, are outraged by this outbreak of truth.
What a totally dumb tactic this is (according to the MSM).
Eyebrows says the blocheads and socialists are his adversaries Not his enemies.
i guess that means when the political backstabbing is set aside then it’s OK to bop each others wives.
kretien, martin, dionky, now I iggy, who next, boob rae, and then maybe they can bring in a MAN to lead them, like lizzard maybe
Any time a tiny bit of reality seeps into a LIberal’s conciousness …. they are SHOCKED !
Of course they tend to practice being shocked at just about anything they can imagine too……..
The only shocking thing in this current state of affairs is that there are about 30% of poll respondents that think the LIberals are AOK!
Of course you might consider that whichever way they lean … these are people who are too stupid or have too much time on their hands to hang up on strangers who interupt their dinners and evenings.
As for the CBC readers … seems they are greatly shicked that the mother corp dared to publish anything lesss than glowing about a LIberal.
BTW …..how many of them work?
Sounda like a perfect plan to me.
Sounds like a perfect plan to me.
Iggy talked to the “hard working” unemployed in some 3 provinces and they all laughed in his face when asked about a majority conservative government so this MUST be an accurate repersentation of what the Canadian public thinks.
These* are applicable to Iggy.
Iggy will self-destruct, implode. Keep on pushing Iggy and his Separatist Coalition until the House of Troika falls.
It is from here** where Wretchard applies it to O, Iggy’s Harvard buddy.
It’s a must read.
…-
*”The public doesn’t want what he is selling, so he has to do it by stealth.
When he is found out, he has to find various slurs to attack his opponents.
Once that doesn’t work, he has to use whatever political brute force he can muster to push it through.”
More:
*”The record of history is clear. The Left has rarely been destroyed by its foes. That job has been accomplished largely by itself.”
