Y2Kyoto: Toasting Rajendra Pachaur

…the place-settings featured multiple goblets, at least seven utensils per person and a plate for each of the three courses, plus a martini glass for the dulce de leche dessert with maple-glazed walnuts. Along with the sustainable paperweights, the gift bags included a 248-page issue of Travel + Leisure magazine, featuring such articles as “Driving Andalusia in Search of Spain’s Best Olive Oil.”

  1. Well, why not eh?
I am not surprised in the least by this behavior, after all – hypocrisy is the defining trademark of the left.
What I fail to understand is:
How utterly stupid does one have to be to not see the contradiction between their words and their actions?
But, then I saw the zogby Obama voter survey and the question kinda answered itself!

  2. The true cost of this self-indulgent idiocy will be borne by the poorest of the poor in the third world, and by the working poor at home. I do hope that there is a special place in hell for the wilfully blind elites who perpetuate the AGW nonsense to boost their own egos, and line their own pockets at the expense of the poor and weak.

  3. $1500 per plate!
What are they serving “Wooly Mammoth Steaks & Burgers” delicately aged for 300,000 years on a welcoming bed Siberian of ice?

  4. I loathe hypocrisy. Most of the “greenies” I meet spend their time travelling the world to “experience the joys of the planet”. I rarely travel. I’m sure I consume less fossil fuels than many greens, it’s my personal choice not necessarily my credo.
All I can say is thank heavens Calgary is contemplating trashing their recycling program. Thank heavens for small mercies.

  5. To answer your question Frenchie, I don’t think it’s about stupidity, I think it’s about intellectual laziness. Most people appear to take what they hear as gospel. The left are the masters of marketing/propaganda so when you have an intellectually lazy population who chooses not to think critically, you end up with AGW hysteria. The left is brilliant at appealing to peoples intuition. “War is bad” that sounds good. “HUMAN RIGHTS commissions” who could be against human rights? “Pollution is bad” duh! As long as you can keep the discussion at this level, the left will always have a large following; but, if you can challenge people to think critically about these issues, the contradiction in words and actions becomes very clear. The main hurddle is that type of thinking takes work; which, we know the left hates.

  6. Feed these hypocrites to the polar bears I say.
PS. good one, Hans but please, PLEASE tell me what’s with all that shit you write after your name? I mean really, I was able to figure out the ‘Caramilk secret’ faster than this……

  7. Does this not absolutely drip of hypocrisy,
It’s a wonder anyone will be able to eat if the smell of Bulls&*t does not make them gag

  8. I think we need to start a massive letter writing campaign pointing all our elected representatives to Kate’s “Sound of Settled Science” series.

  9. me thinks these dinners are probably much like bikinis, the more you pay, the less there is of them
hope they all starved to death:-)))
