Federal Election ’08

Though I’ll be posting updates, I’m not going to liveblog what you can readily access online or on air, but the comments are open for your links, reaction and local reports. Just don’t go breaking any laws, though by the looks of things…

… Elections Canada has better things to do than track down surly beavers.
However, as traffic will be heavy tonight, PLEASE avoid tying up server resources with one-liners, chat, expletives, and whatnot.
Game on!
And in these waning hours, one final pitch from Gaia to the voters of southern Saskatchewan –

Only your vote can save the planet from global warming!
Update: Looks like Dizzy Lizzy picked a bad day to go carbon free.
My goodness, a couple of blog sites are getting slammed tonight. (Try not to hit refresh too often, ok?)
And in other breaking news – SDA still up, Elections Canada still down.
Lusers.
Methinks it looks like Karlheinz Schreiber picked a bad day to go midday cocktail free.
One we’ve all been waiting for – GARTH TURNER DEFEATED
Oh! – and to all my deluded Liberal blogging friends living east of Manitoba – I told you so.

  1. Hey Atlantic Jimbo, Fred was talking about NFLD in their Lieberal Redcoats not getting any gov’mt contracts…

  2. “2) Dust My Broom—identified as an Aboriginal site—was highlighted at a Kingston pub, checking out the blogs: the left wing, political poster with the American flag superimposed on Harper’s face was shown (cheers from crowd)—as if Darcy approved it.”
    WOW I missed that! LMAO

  3. On ctv,I didn’t catch her name ,” I knew Danny Williams when he was an adult”. YES…. Jan,I agree with you wholeheartedly.

  4. Brad it’s legal to advertise on the day of the election if you are registered with EC. I thought it was weird and checked.

  5. No kidding Tex!!! Jeezzz yer sum smrt eh?
And you will notice he used the Navy and Coast Guard as an example of his knowledge of the area, or rather, along with yourself apparently, complete and utter lack of knowledge of the East.
That’s all right though, we have come to expect such arrogance from the new Trawna.

  6. Lizzy has stayed true to the bitter end. I vote her speech nastiest concession speech I’ve ever heard in Canadian politics.

  7. Atlantic Jimbo: I will refrain from carrying on a flame war with you out of respect for Kate’s rules but suffice to say that all coast guard and navy contracts do not go to the Halifax dock yards. The shipwrights in St John’s and St. John, not to mention Port Hawksbury would be upset at your answer. I probably live within a stone’s throw of you so I am no GTA shill.

  8. CBCpravda regards the whole election as a joke, starts off coverage with 22minutes and george alphabetsoupius

  9. Shelly Glover declared in St. Boniface (Wpg)! Score one for Yukon Gold and the expanding ‘burbs!

  10. I will venture that a NDP/lib coalition is not going to be happening this time around. Too bad,so sad.(:-)

  11. I’m watching CTV in a separate window in Firefox and I’m really amazed at what an unreconstituted moron Craig Oliver is.

  12. “former lovebirds Wendy Messhead and Petey”
I’d love to see her hit him with a cast iron frying pan with Cynthia Dale looking on. Poetic right now if “Little Bomb er Mosque on the Prairie” was advertised about now.

  13. Lizzie should have run in the Sudbury area, near the big nickel. Can’t be a looney and a nickel too.

  14. Elizabeth May was banking heavily on the Federal Penitentiary vote which didn’t come through for her.

  15. Brian Tobin is seeming to be unusually pompous tonight. My windbag detector van predicts a Liberal Leadership run by Tobin after Iggy knifes Dion in a back alley.

  16. I hope the Tory support in Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar goes up, the dippers are leading there right now… 🙁

  17. The Liberal MSM is shamelessly showing their anti-con bias. Can’t watch either CBC or CTV, it is truly sickening. Not even a hint of objectivity. Just totally objectionable. The only good thing you can say about CTV is that it is not funded by the taxpayer.

  18. One CPC in PEI
Now PeterPansbridge can’t declare the parties even ,one shutout in Alberta and one shut out in PEI like last election.
Agree Craggy Oliver is a dolt

  19. GO Blue!!
Close to a majority Vitrivus, you may need to recalibrate.
Actually I think you called it but BC is going stronger for the Blues than expected.

  20. Many years ago I saw two guys in a street fight. One guy booted the hell out of the other. The loser picked himself up and said to the winner “Let that be a lesson to you.”
Sounds like the Liberal commentators doesn’t it?

  21. “Craggy Oliver is a dolt.”
A remarkably good enbalming job by the wizards at Pharaoh’s Pyramid and Cigar Store in Toronto’s downtown. A big shout out to Akbar and Hasnai from your friend Hannibal.

  22. The only thing missing from Craig Oliver’s shilling for the Liberals tonight is a house falling on him from the Wizard of Oz.
    Paraphrasing Oliver:
“Back to back minority governments: what the hell kind of accomplishment is that?”

  23. “Trudeau II is on the way?”
I guess the job offer from Al Jazeera will have to wait.

  24. God help us, another Trudeau. The media fawning that’s going to happen is already turning my stomach.

  25. Hah, there you have it, Garth says the electorate want to stay with the “DEVIL THEY KNOW in tough economic times.”
I suppose Prime Minister Stephen Harper is clipping his horns and polishing his halo.

  26. Oliver is clearly pissed. He probably realizes that he may not live long enough to his idols back in power…Peter Milliken should thank the cons(think hoosegow) for a narrow victory.
