Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Trump The Establishment
A news item yesterday noted that the IMF is standing by to provide financial assistance to those nations that are suffering from the current financial crisis.
Considering that the bulk of the IMF’s funding comes from precisely those nations currently hit hardest by the financial panic, exactly how do they expect to fund any of this?
It would be like making a loan to yourself.
DeSmog – what a joke !
Richard Littlemoreorless – the Joker !
” .. but the Liberals aren’t losing this election because Dion lacks charisma ” Dick Morelittle
Have you seen the one about Dion telling his golfing joke ? If not, you are lucky.
” The Liberals are losing because the NDP has pushed tax-averse voters into Stephen Harper’s lap.”
Awwwh, like .. what ?
The NDP tax pushers are scaring people !? Hello Richard. Who is pushing the carbon tax ?
Peak Oil. Remember that ?
Oh yes, the Suzuki crowd said we are running out of oil and so we have to go biofuel (which produces more CO2 and eats our food) and wind (which is unreliable) and solar which is pornographically expensive) and other pie in the sky dreams(not yet invented).
And Dave said we had to listen to him. The situation is dire. That is why scarce oil skyrocketed to $147 !!
So how come oil has now plunged 47% ? Down to $78 !! Like, over supply maybe ?
I wonder if the price of oil went on it’s wild ride for the same reason the stock market is ?? Fear & greed & speculators – all stoked by a fear
mongering media?
Curiously, Obama has pointed out Iraq has a $85 billion surplus while the US is stuck with the bills for reconstruction.
If I were in the US, I’d vote Obama for president and for a Republican congress to keep his commie tendencies in check.
McCain is totally hopeless. He lost his chance to connect with the taxpayers when he voted for the bailout bill.
I like these “slice of life” stories out of Iraq, and wish we could get more of them. I recall a few weeks ago a picture of a new KFC outlet that opened in southern Iraq. Now, a story about a burgeoning stock exchange in the country.
Stories of hope through mundane normalcy. It’s nice to see.
Iraq has an ‘external debt’ that is 99% of its GDP.
Bad, eh ? Maybe not that bad.
USA 95 %
Canada 60 %
UK 490 %
Germany 160 %
France 212 %
So who is better off ?
Mexico 13 %
Saudi Arabia 11 %
China 5 %
FYI – I recall reading a couple of weeks ago that Iraq now funds about 90% or more of their own reconstruction.
