Sidewinder Resurfaces

Part Two;

It wasn’t that reports he sent to his bosses in Canada — details on murderers, money launderers, smugglers and spies trying to enter Canada — were met with silence or mostly destroyed.
It wasn’t dozens of threatening calls — “Stop what you’re doing or you’re going to find yourself dead” — from Triad members during his 1989-1993 stint in Hong Kong.
What finally broke him down, he says, was “the incredible feeling of betrayal from my colleagues. I’d worked with these people for years.”
“It goes to your very soul,” he says. “It is a spiritual crisis. It is a psychological breakdown.”
There was the day he got a phone call from his Hong Kong Police Department source, who was wiretapping a Triad kingpin.
“What shocked the Hong Kong policeman was that the Triad member had phoned someone in the Canadian immigration minister’s office in Ottawa,” says Mr. McAdam.
“The officer commented: ‘With that kind of relationship, you’ve got a really serious problem.’ “

  1. Isn’t this a modern version of the Family Compact of the 19th century? This alliance has been going on for so long that maybe the media just take it for granted. I find it amazing that such an obvious connection gets such short shrift.
It is coming to an end, though. The LPC will be the last to abandon cronyism, but they will too some day.
Everything was in place for the Liberals to reign uninterrupted for decades, free to further entrench their connections and politicize all aspects of public enterprise to their benefit, gleefully enriching themselves in the process. What happened, they now ask, as they bay from behind the curtain, with bluff after bluff called.
Paul Martin happenend, perhaps the greatest inadvertent patriot in the history of the country. By blundering away the Grit birthright, he saved this country from endless rights commissions, scandals, incompetence and shrinking of our international stature. Chretien actually helped too with his political contribution limits.
This must be a very confusing time to be a Liberal. Every time they act tough, Harper puts his foot on their throat.
Maybe the media just thinks the Strong gang are simply irrelevant. Maybe they are loading up to nail the Tories. To a certain extent that will happen.
But now when I watch our “National” Media on Question Period, though they are ridiculously unbalanced in their analysis, there seems a resignation that Dion is a dead duck.
I don’t think they will give him a free ride in an election campaign. They, like the rest of us, already know Dion will be a disaster.
One important reason why that is now so is sites like this. Who knows, maybe this press will pick the Power Corp connection up next election.
    Then again, maybe not.

  2. CSIS?
oh, ya, grant bristow’s old stomping ground.
    rcmp?
oh, right, the thing headed up by zacchardelli, the top cop in the land and rotten to the core.
power corp? includes the following personnel on the payrol: mulruin, norma rae, crouton, bill davis. covering the bases !!!
who ya gonna call? ghost busters !!
we are seeing a few molecules of the big picture and I think they are the political equivalent of dioxin.

  3. The upcoming election will be down and dirty. All the forces and friends the Liberals have will come down on the Conservatives and Harper. The Liberals are so desperate now they are dredging up Mulroney/Schreiber, Bernier/Couillard, 2006 election spending … anything they can get their hands on to smearmonger … and the Liberal MSM dutifully eat it up.
The chink in the Liberal scheming is of course hapless Dion, the pedantic professor with his stupid carbon tax. They are desperate because they must control the county’s Treasury by 2012 when Canada’s Kyoto “obligations” (according to page 16 of the Green Shift) come due. That’s Kyoto Carbon Credit time.
These national and international business interests that work through the Liberal party know Dion is not the politician to lead the Liberals to victory. Dion’s Green Shift with it’s psychologically punitive Carbon Tax is a monumental gaffe that will undermine the Liberals attempt to take control of Ottawa again.
The other political players, Layton, Duceppe, May, all know what is at stake for the Liberals and their friends, and now we shall see how they align themselves in the next election. Layton has been quoted as saying he will be going against the Liberals, no doubt because the soft lefty vote may be convinced through MSM fearmongering that Harper must be stopped. The NDP could be decimated in the next election, and that’s why Layton knows it’s the Liberals he must stop to survive.
Duceppe would love to see Ontario give Dion a minority Liberal government so that he can rejuvenate separatism in Quebec against the Liberal crooks. We know Toronto and the surrounding GTA have become multiculti Liberal strongholds and no longer part of traditional Canada .. the Trudeau open door immigration policy to seed the cities of Canada with multicultis beholden to the Liberal party coming to fruition.
Liberal election objectives must be to hold Harper to another minority, because a majority will be the demise of all their scheming. Powercorp took the hit when Bush invaded Iraq and voided all those oil contracts with Total (no regime change in Iraq pleaded Chretien) .. and now Canadians have thrown a hitch into their Billion$$$ carbon credit scam with China by electing Harper. Interesting times for Powercorp …eh?!

  4. I often wondered why the liberal big hitters, Tobin, McKenna, or Clyde Wells didn’t take a run at the liberal leadership. They know they could have won. I know why know. They knew this was all going to come out, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out they are helping to get it uncovered. Why would the liberal powers that be put someone as dumb as dogshit, like Dion, in as leader? They did it because they know he is dumber than dogshit, and easy to cook the books around.

  5. For a prolific yapper like Tobin to be so silent for so long and conversely the respected Manley keeping away from the fray, you have to know they don’t want to be associated with the downfall. Of course they were all around for the beginning of the end but they had a Master.
Most leaders take responsibility,it’s part of their job, not the case with Johnny Chretien. while Adscam was going on he was collecting golf balls. Ditto Paul Martin, the biggest disappointment the Liberals ever had. He was responsible for dividing the Party with his frenzied decade as a keener for the top job. He got it, didn’t know how to do it.
He tried to hold on to power by criss-crossing the country telling lies about Harper who was polling a majority until then. Martin and the Liberals got their dues. That was installment one, they’re set up for more with dinky Dion who is refusing to meet with Harper to discuss the upcoming sitting of Parliament. If he can’t play the roll of Opposition, how can he think he can lead?

  6. “…when I used the term ‘the hordes of Hell,’ I had in mind the MSM, the Librano$, and all of the resources at the disposal of Power Corporation, which are not inconsiderate.”
I MEANT “…all of the resources at the disposal of Power Corporation, which are not INCONSIDERABLE.”
All of Power Corporation’s resources are bound to be inconsiderate when it comes to defeating Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his CPC.

  7. Liz j – “the media are The Hordes of Hell”
batb – “…when I used the term ‘the hordes of Hell,’ I had in mind the MSM, the Librano$, and all of the resources at the disposal of Power Corporation, which are not inconsiderate.”
    INDEED!
While the Canadian blogosphere is ‘Waiting For Godot’ – Fox News channel to come to Canada.

  8. One of the many Liberal scandals the Reform/CA?CPC never capitalize upon or drag up and dangle in front of their faces when Liberals get all Pious-like on them.
