Sidewinder Resurfaces

Part Two;

It wasn’t that reports he sent to his bosses in Canada — details on murderers, money launderers, smugglers and spies trying to enter Canada — were met with silence or mostly destroyed.
It wasn’t dozens of threatening calls — “Stop what you’re doing or you’re going to find yourself dead” — from Triad members during his 1989-1993 stint in Hong Kong.
What finally broke him down, he says, was “the incredible feeling of betrayal from my colleagues. I’d worked with these people for years.”
“It goes to your very soul,” he says. “It is a spiritual crisis. It is a psychological breakdown.”
There was the day he got a phone call from his Hong Kong Police Department source, who was wiretapping a Triad kingpin.
“What shocked the Hong Kong policeman was that the Triad member had phoned someone in the Canadian immigration minister’s office in Ottawa,” says Mr. McAdam.
“The officer commented: ‘With that kind of relationship, you’ve got a really serious problem.’ “

  1. “And Canada, he says, is now known as “one of the world’s centres for Chinese organized crime and espionage.”
    Why are we not surprised?

  2. And which former Prime Minister now has a very lucrative set of contracts with the Chinese government….
Those Libranos, selling out everything including their country

  3. “With that kind of relationship…” we’ve got a really serious problem.
Thank you Jean for opening this box on the apparent eve of an election. Yes, indeed, let’s talk about our relationship with China. While we are at it, why don’t we also talk about your relationship with China.

  4. I read the disgusting weasel worded article by maurice Strong a couple of issues back in Macleans magazine. The story was filled with what I call weasel words and cleverly crafted moral garments intended to cover up china’s ugly reality. Macleans didn’t carry my letter to the editor in response.
We of course will never know how much direct power
China had over our Liberal governments. It’s like trying to catch the big crooks in the adscam affair. Didn’t happen.
The last time a big story broke at the Ottawa paper the editor was fired. What happens this time? Keeping a cover-up costs innocent people their futures. It is great to know some few folks are prepared to do their job and fight for Canada. Hell of a price they pay, isn’t it?

  5. I am interested in this item from the story: “I believe both probes (by the Sidewinder team and by the RCMP) had considerable political interference to shut them down,” says Mr. McAdam, “and it seemed to be coming from the highest levels.” I think the links between the Chretien government and the communist Party/mafia in China are increasingly becoming clear. I doubt that rank and file Liberals are involved, but they need to pay attention because THIS is why the party needs renewal. If Bob Rae takes the helm, it will be same old, same old. The Canadian people need to become aware of some of what was happening behind the scenes when the Liberal were in power. Unfortunately, the MSM chooses instead to focus on small potatoes issues — such as the closure of that useless access to information database or cancellation of a grants programs for special interst groups (e.g. LEAF or arts travel). This issue is about high level corruption and the sell-out of the country. This is what Kyoto was about. Where was/is the media? I believe that at least the Epoch Times will publicize some of this, but I am not sure how many people read it. Are they the only independent news source in the country?

  6. And I thought Jackie Chan was one of the good guys.
Seriously though, i remember back a while when it was pointed out that China was quietly investing in or out right buying Canadian resources and companies from under our collective noses only to hear the government of the day dismiss the idea as paranoid and that lovely catchphrase, racist.
As I said before, Power Corp thinks they are in charge of China but it is the otherway around. Mo & Jean are being played like a cheap violin. somebody is laying the groundwork to being the next world superpower (and it isn’t Iran either).

  7. Lindal- yes, the Chretien govt was actually not a political party but the political wing of the very powerful business interests of PowerCorp, Desmarais, etc. The political wing of this giant economic empire includes Chretien, Bob Rae.
This wing uses the Liberal party to control its economic interests in Canada and establish deep economic links with the corrupt economic agents in China.
The network developed to enable and protect this formidable economic empire extends into the non-economic, the non-political, such as the RCMP, the judiciary, the MSM. That’s because the economic empire is hidden behind the legitimacy and even ideology of a political party, the Liberal Party.
It is therefore extremely difficult to get to the real powers of this economic empire because they have cloaked themselves completely within a political party – and when that party was in power – it filled the govt bureaucracy with people loyal to the Liberals.
It’s almost impossible to separate the two – and the problem is, that many of the ‘cover’ people in the Liberal Party are genuine, are not connected to the PowerCorp Corporation and yet, are being used by it.

  8. lindal…you’ve got it…and let’s connect a few more dots. How many Libs are on a mission to undermine and distort PMSH’s relationship with the USA and China. What are they afraid of?All the Bush-bashing by the lefties and their media friends is a reflection of their fear.
And while the MSM sleeps on this it becomes more apparent that Chretien has grabbed more than one person by the throat.

  9. Glad this was reported in the Ottawa Citizen today in a column by Donna Jacobs, “One man’s China crusade”. IT’S THE STORY OF THE DAY AND DAMMIT IT SHOULD BE ON THE FRONT PAGE.
The Liberals have destroyed so many of our institutions, including the RCMP. Lets include our public safety and immigration, all to keep the Liberals in power.
Should we not be a bit concerned with Mo Strong and friends, Chretien, Martin et al, who now are not in politics but still pulling strings and interfering. Add to that, we have Bob Rae aspires to become leader and even PM who is close enough to Mo Strong to call him “Uncle Mo”.
C’mon, lets have this story blown out all over the internet and let the Libranos squeal.

  10. The question for today is not how corrupt Chretien and his cronies were. The question is how much of this rot still exists in our civil service.
We need a conservative majority and we need to make it clear to our MPs that we expect them to clean house.

  11. “What finally broke him down, he says, was “the incredible feeling of betrayal from my colleagues. I’d worked with these people for years.””
Welcome to my world! The Canadians don’t want to hear bad news, buddy! They execute the messengers.

  12. Anyone considering voting for the still infested Liberals after all that has gone down under their watch, Adscam corruption and boondoggles, including in Chretien’s own riding, “Shawinigate”, has to have no care about this Country.
There has to be a thorough clean up of the rot and it will involve a few high profile people who still gleefully laugh all the way to the bank. China is becoming the road to riches for some. Harper has the right attitude towards China in spite of the squealing pigs in the media and the Liberal/Left friends of Mo Strong.
Is it not fair to say Strong is one of the more dangerous people in the Western world?
We have a lot to worry about. If we don’t see Harper with a majority after all this information is out, we are lost as a country and close to Banana Republic status.

  13. What better time than now to remind the blogosphere about the enabling MSM during the corrupt Chretien / Martin Liberal era about Sidewinder under their watch.
Enabling corruption is tantamount TO CORRUPTION by Canadian MSM in my view.
Is the Ottawa Citizen attempting to wriggle free now running the Donna Jacobs series?
Better late than not at all I suppose!
The Chretien / Power Corp/ Martin / Rae / Strong / Chinese story remains an internet story.
    At least FOR NOW.

  14. Jason Kenney appearing on Question Period on the weekend touched on Chretien’s meeting with China officials before he retired then setting to work for his business interest in China a number of weeks later.
this can be viewed on ctv.ca MPs discuss election, about the 5min mark after Rosemary Thompson talks to the NDP Mp.

  15. “What shocked Mr. McAdam was what the officer said next: The Canadian reassured the Triad boss, “Don’t worry about McAdam and what he’s doing. We’ll take care of him.”
    Absolutely disgusting.
Allowing China access to our technology is treason. We were sold out by those with whom we entrusted to protect us.
This story will not go away.Guaranteed.
Some senior Liberals and their minions in the civil service should be hanged for their sedition and treason.
They have compromised Canada, to what extent, will be unknown till the day we are in conflict with China.

  16. I hope this individual applies for a Authorization to Carry as his life may still be in danger, the triads have a habit of settling scores. As for the Liberals, all the move reason to volunteer to help my CPC candidate.

  17. If I’ve read the article right, he went on sick leave in 1993 and quit after being on sick leave for 2 years. Now Chretien became Prime Minister after the Oct. 25 1993 election. Obviously a cover-up adds outrage on outrage but according to the accusations the crimes, leaks and career destruction took place on the watch of the Progressive Conservatives.

  18. M Hawkins, you’ve got it just about right. The face of the government isn’t the point – it’s the entrenched bureaucracy; the unelected government. Change, if it comes, is going to have to go deeper than the heckling hordes in the House.

  19. The Prince of Power.
Mao Stlong is the fountainhead, the guru, the Sphincter of Sidewinder.
“Mr. Strong’s top priority has always been his self-professed socialist political agenda.”
    …-
    The prince of power
    Peter Foster
    Financial Post
    May 19, 2005
Anybody suggesting that there is a vast left-wing conspiracy centred in the United Nations is usually written off as a right-wing crackpot. Most people are prepared to believe that the UN is corrupt and incompetent, but spare us all that stuff about black helicopters.
However, according to David Henderson, former chief economist for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, the dangerous collectivist tides currently sloshing through both governments and executive suites have their origins down at Turtle Bay. Mr. Henderson is correct, but his story is Hamlet without the prince.
According to Mr. Henderson, the great psycho-wave of the past 35 years is “global salvationism.” This quasi-religious belief has two ill-fitting articles of faith: environmental alarmism, and the assertion that Third World poverty is in some way due to the West taking more than its fair share of global resources. Both problems are alleged to require top-down global political solutions, including giant corporations accepting more “social responsibility.”
The focus of this global master-plan is the bland but subversive notion of “sustainable development,” that without extensive UN-administered government controls the world is going to Hades in a handbasket, due to man-made global warming, species extinction, resource depletion, pandemics, obesity. You name it.
Mr. Henderson has laid out his concerns in an excellent recent book, The Role of Business in the Modern World, and in a series of recent speeches (see excerpt at right). However, what Mr. Henderson’s plot lacks is a central character. Whom should it be? None other than Canada’s own Maurice Strong, the world’s best-connected doomster and inveterate promoter of a more powerful UN (which is, admittedly, something of a tough sell at the moment).
Mr. Strong has recently been in the news in connection with the oil-for-food scandal and for having employed his stepdaughter, against the rules, in a UN position. It seems extremely unlikely that Mr. Strong will be found to have been involved with illicit Iraqi oil, despite his business dealings with alleged Korean Saddamite Tongsun Park. There is a widespread misconception among those aware — and suspicious — of Mr. Strong that his public-service persona is somehow a cover for making money. Quite the reverse. Mr. Strong’s top priority has always been his self-professed socialist political agenda.”

  20. It is not clear what the original source of the corruption was — likely many tentacled. Maurice Strong and Power Corp have both been involved in China for a very long time, and have pulled many strings in the Canadian Fed. Gov. Much of the cover-up in this case happened under Chretien’s watch. This is from a posting at the Globe:
“Chretien’s last visit to China was last November [2 months prior] and among his last official duties was a formal meeting with Chinese Prime Minister .. on his final day in office on Dec. 12. Congressional investigations were carried out into CITIC, China’s largest military industrial corporation. Clinton testified that he made a mistake getting involved with CITIC.. In Canada CSIS was ordered to destroy their report into CITIC’s economic infiltration into Canadian society.”

  21. The Kommunist Kyoto Klutz’s (KKK) idiotic fumbling and obvious gerrymandering of the nations business for personal profit and design over a period of some 20 odd years is finally coming to light.
The recent Mulroney/Schreiber charade is a just a public distraction in a much bigger game.
Why do you think Bob Rae, Chretien and company are now getting vocal as their business interests are on the line. cue Jason Kenny…
The Chretien/Martin ‘civil war’ was just about who was going to get a bigger slice of the pre-divided economic pie.
One would have to be stupid and naive to believe that Adscam, gun registry, Human Resources boondoggles were just isolated incidents; they were indicators of a more widespread pattern of corruption.
Over a period of years, they just kept adding more and more LIEberal party faithful to the ever expanding money train until Adscam derailed the “Boondoggle Express” to Beijing.
Remember Kyoto Karbon Kredits were all going to go to China for our environmental ‘sins’ where Mo Strong et al. would clean up financially by building 550 coal fired electricity plants gleefully spilling CO2 into the air.
No wonder the LIEberals have got the environmental religion of the GREEN SHAFT for Canadians, while the real green piles up in their stock, bond, cash and investment portfolios.
Never underestimate the power of greed and financial incentives to build ‘loyalty’ to an ever expanding ring of participants.

  22. M Hawkins.. If there has to be a political party attached to this scheme take a look at the leader of the conservatives at the time (Brian Mulroney). I believe he was at one time a board member for Power Corp.

  23. Does anybody know what the heck this Frankenstein Battalion of the True North Army Group is?

  24. When all is said and done, when Dion is but a
    memory…
It will be Bob Raes turn to tell us why/how past
Liberal deals with China are so valuable to
    Canadian values.
I can’t wait to hear why my tax dollars should be
used to keep Chretian and his Power corp masters
wealthy, by buying CARBON CREDITS from China, to
    invest in Chinas military/industrial complex.
    No wonder China hates Harper…
He put the kibosh on those Liberal
    un-auditable foundations, you know,
the ones to be used to buy carbon credits from
    trust worthy environmental oriented nations.
If you really beleive that money would be used to cleanup anyones environment, well, dream on…
Say NO to Liberals using our money to get rich/er..invest in China/er..buy Carbon Credits, whatever, ..don’t be fooled ..
even if they call it The Green Shift.

  25. For a media so enthralled with conspiracy theories and anti-corporate ideologies, it’s surprising how well Power Corp. has managed to stay below the radar. Mulroney, Chretien and Martin were all linked to Power Corp through employment, family or both.
When the Iraq war started it wasn’t the Americans who were looking our for economic advantages, but Power Corp, which owned an interest in Total, the oil company with the biggest contracts with Saddam.
So Chretien opposed a war that jeopardized significant economic interests of his in-laws and the company he would one day go on to work for.

  26. Digging deeper into CBC archives reveals this from the PET Cemetery.

In 1960, China was virtually a closed society. Foreign visitors were rare, but somehow, five French-Canadians were invited to tour the country for 32 days. Among the group were a journalist, Jacques Hébert, and a labour lawyer, Pierre Trudeau. The pair would write a 1961 book, Deux innocents en Chine rouge, about their experiences there. On the CBC Radio program Matinee, Hébert describes the paternalistic treatment he and Trudeau received from the Chinese.”

  27. Terry, as far as anyone can tell, it’s an excuse for the leftoids who troll this blog to lump as all together as wingnuts.
Yeah, I think Hans has valid views on a lot of issues, but I wish he’d stop it too.

  28. ‘Two innocents in Red China’

On the CBC Radio program Matinee, Hébert describes the paternalistic treatment he and Trudeau received from the Chinese.
    ‘Two innocents in Red China’
    • Pierre Trudeau first visited China in 1949 as part of a year-long world tour through Eastern Europe, the Middle East, India and China.
    • Nationalist and Communist forces were battling at the time of his visit, and in his memoirs he described Shanghai as: “a bizarre flea market in which everyone, from the poorest to the richest, was trying to peddle his or her possessions for money to flee south or abroad.”
    • On Trudeau’s return to China, in 1960, his delegation met both Chairman Mao and Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai.
    • “In China [Trudeau] would never think of asking for bacon or eggs. He would have the snake soup or whatever,” Jacques Hébert later recalled.
    • Deux innocents en Chine rouge was translated into English in 1968. In 2005, the book was translated into Chinese and published in China. Hébert and Sacha Trudeau, Pierre’s son, launched the book in Shanghai.
    • Hébert and Trudeau visited China in the midst of the “Great Leap Forward,” an initiative launched by Mao in 1958.
    • The aim of the Great Leap Forward was to boost the economy of China with a program of rapid industrialization and by organizing the citizenry into self-sufficient communes. China’s most plentiful resource, human labour, was mobilized to build dikes, create irrigation channels and smelt steel in backyard furnaces.
    • The Great Leap Forward has been widely deemed an economic failure that was responsible for the deaths of as many as 30 million people. Poor weather in 1959 and 1960 led to crop failure and mass starvation due to unequal food distribution.
    • The backyard steel furnaces also proved a waste of resources; the steel they produced was of very poor quality and next to useless.
    • The campaign was abandoned in 1962.
    • Listen to an additional CBC Archives clip in which visitors to China describe the atmosphere of propaganda during the Great Leap Forward.

Where can I get a copy of the recording?

  29. I knew Cretin was a crook, but this is WAY BEYOND criminal activity. It needs to be called what it really is: TREASON! THAT is the word that needs to be used when referring to this travesty!

  30. It is Treason. We must trap the weasel, we know who it is and where it is. That weasel is probably among the most dangerous people for this country.
There is really more than one weasel, another was PM of this country and still thinks he’s a comedian. All in the weasel family, looking out for themselves, to hell with the country.
What is very sad, these are the crooks who sneer at Conrad Black. Weasel #2 is the asshole who invoked an obscure law to force Black to give up his Canadian citizenship to take a seat in the British House of Lords, part of our British connections.
If he’s worried about foreign citizenships he should ask Dion if he’s given up his French citizenship. Oh, forgot, French would be OK, it’s those British connections we must get rid of.
Shameful what’s been happening to our once great country. All in the mix for takeover and the frenzy by the Liberals to keep in power was the dumbing down of our military. Were they planning to lead us into a dictatorship?
    It’s entirely possible.

  31. Liz J…Chretien was a dictator. He was da boss and if you disagreed with him you were promptly shown the door, what was that fellows name,Nunziata?

  32. Liz J & h.ryan:
Don’t forget the CHRC and the provinical counterparts are the thought police; the equivalent of the the East Germany Stasi where the ‘walls have ears’.
Ezra, Kate, Kathy, et al. don’t you know you need guidance to achieve the ‘re-educated’ result; because thinking for yourself to identify collusion might get you into a whole lot of financial drainage because you don’t support the ‘party’ line.
No small wonder that the LIEberals are hardly the endorsers of faith based perspectives on our little spin on the planet, when one is dealing with a totalitarian offically atheist China, where faith based perspectives need ‘control’.
Hence Warren Kinsella’s celebrated derisory exultation over Stockwell Day with Barney the Dinosaur.
Does it all start to make sense now?
Melting all the way through to Beijing just like the movie the “China Syndrome”.
    Cue Jane Fonda…
    Cheers

  33. The only good news about the Donna Jacobs’ article is that it’s exposing the dark, dastardly, and treasonous deeds of the Librano$ to the light of day.
But, Canadians have to take off their rose-coloured glasses in order to see and smell the s*it that Trudeau, Mulroney, Chretien, Martin, Bob Rae, Maurice Strong et al. are up to–all with their strings being pulled, of course, by the Desmarais Family at Power Corp.
This is the BIG SCANDAL, it’s the scandal that brings the threads of all of the other scandals together.
For the Canadian MSM to write next to nothing about this disgraceful national sell-out is, itself, tantamount to treason. BIG BUCKS, BIG SCANDALS, BIG THUGS, BIG COVER-UPS, BIG WIMPS.
Canada’s only hope is a Harper Majority and a big cleanup after the CPC win–and, of course, these are the very things that Power Corp, their political puppets, and the MSM most fear.
The next election is going to be brutal: PM Stephen Harper and his CPC against the hordes of Hell. ‘Time for watchmen on the towers and round-the-clock prayer vigils.

  34. Batb: Harper Majority, PowerCorp & MSM most fear
You just hit the Nail on the Head, There is going to be an all out battle as They know they must stop a majority at all cost in order to Keep this revelation of Misuse at the highest level under wraps. This is why Chretien is popping up all over the place of a sudden.

  35. Ezra Levant’s March 14,2005 Western Standard Magazine did an exposure of the PowerCorp network, and the people within that network.
    It’s in Kate’s archives of 01/12/2006.
The title of the diagram by the Western Standard was ‘Connecting the Power: the company’s links to the leaders of Canada, Iraq and the UN.
Included are all the Desmarais gang, and Chretien, Paul Martin, Bob Rae, Brian Mulroney, Daniel Johnson, Saddam Hussein – Maurice Strong of course – and Trudeau and even Bill Davis.

  36. There’s reason to suspect the same “sidewinder” scenario is happening with the security reports on terrorism as well.
Our security agencies seem to be soft soaping the size and voraciousness of the problem of domestic Islamist terrorism lately.
CSIS got no help from the jurocrats in processing their terrorism cases and the current government is mum on the many stalled prosecutions.

  37. The day the Conservatives win a majority is the day Business Depot has a run on shredding machines..there will be a purge the likes of which we have never seen as the players , both big and small, do anything they can to cover their tracks..
It can’t be said often enough… you commit treason against my country by enabling the enemy and profiteering of the backs of the Canadian people?
    You swing…

  38. Thanks, ET, for mentioning the Western Standard’s expose of the Desmarais Dynasty and a link to it. My husband and I were subscribers and I remember reading it.
I don’t quite lump the Western Standard into “the Canadian MSM.” Ted Byfield’s The Report, The BC Report, The Alberta Report were horses of a different colour, as well–but with a much smaller (I like to think “select”!) subscriber list than the TorStar, the Probe and Fail, the National Post, Maclean’s, etc..
Our overpaid, in-the-Librano$’-pockets MSM “pundits” are total scumbags, having kept this story completely under wraps. I imagine not a small number of ttem are just a little nervous as this scandal begins to be unravelled.
What did they know and when?

  39. Liz J – from what I have read, the Liberanos never intended to use the Canadian Army, their friends in China had a few extra soldiers…
Canada MUST have a Conservative victory right away before something really bad happens in the USA.

  40. Canada needs a Woodward and Bernstein team…while the lefty MSM follows the ‘in and out’ game with a passion.

  41. bluetech: “Canada needs a Woodward and Bernstein team…”
That’s for sure! But who’re ya gonna call?
And who would publish it? MacLelland and Stewart? 😉

  42. If the people of this country haven’t cottoned on to the banana republic tactics of the trough sharing, inbred, inter-married Liberal media hacks, there’s no hope. The corruption of power we’ve experienced are a disgrace to our forefathers who so carefully set in place a Dominion with common sense and decency with the rule of law and respect for it and each other.
Joe Molnar, the media are the “hordes of hell”.

  43. So just why is anyone surprised by this… or unaware??
C’mon already this is part of YOUR history thanks to the PET and the Quebec mob.

  44. Liz: “If the people of this country haven’t cottoned on to the banana republic tactics of the trough sharing, inbred, inter-married Liberal media hacks, there’s no hope.” — I am afraid that there probably is no hope. It is too easy to distract people with superficial “scandals” (e.g. Maxime leaving papers at his girlfriends.) I think the media itself is easily manipulated. I am not totally sure what has had them for the most part steer clear of the Desmerais/Strong stuff — to a fault. I am somewhat surprised that not even maverick reporters have tried to pursue this one — I am thinking of people like Michael Harris (Ottawa CFRA) — who has done an excellent job of investigating scandals on a range of issues. There must be people in Ottawa who know what is going on, but are not talking. I don’t hold much hope that the truth will come out — at least not for a very long time.

  45. LindaL: “I am not totally sure what has had them for the most part steer clear of the Desmerais/Strong stuff…”
‘Ever heard of “‘you say anything and I’ll break your knees”?
I suspect there’s been a certain circumspection on the part of the MSM to blow the whistle on a party that has certain connections: Do brown paper bags stuffed with cash left in restaurants for pickup ring a familiar note?

  46. Liz, when I used the term “the hordes of Hell,” I had in mind the MSM, the Librano$, and all of the resources at the disposal of Power Corporation, which are not inconsiderate.
They have a lot more to lose than just an election.

  47. It’s late in the day and I came back to catch up on my reading. It’s obvious that ET has a clear grasp of what may be going on. We owe a lot to him for the way in which he so clearly describes these issues. I always wonder what is going to become of Canada, particularly for our grandchildren.
I may be on the last slope in life’s journey, but
I can still worry about the kids.
Thank you ET for your ongoing contribution to my understanding of what I believe is a sinister linkage.
    mel

  48. melwilde I believe ET is a she and yes, she is very insightful and knowledgeable.
If we do go the polls this fall, I believe the Conservatives can win their majority because “we” are much more committed to voting than the latte crowd.
