Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Yup..global warming goin’ on in Manitoba on the wk-end! I had to fire up the woodstove on Sat.nite to take the chill off the house.Went down to 13 degrees.can Steffi help me with this,as I’m getting tired of hauling wood.
Would it be mean to pray for a snow storm in Denver for late August?
There will still be true believers, even when the glaciers are at the front door. Frankly I am not convinced anything is happening. We have had some good warm years but I remember in high school the paper giving out certificates as a promotional gag for surviving – 20 for 2 months at a stretch.
It see saws back & forth as does dry & wet seasons. Any real difference should be counted in millennia not even centuries.
they even said there is the possibility of snow in the Alpine sections of the Tour de France this year.
Go figure, I guess Al Gore won’t be there with the Devil at the top of the Cols.
Tee Hee . . .
Weather ain’t climate! Any fool who goes into the mountains without weather protection deserves to freeze. Mountain weather is guaranteed to be unpredictable and the morons who organized that race should be charged with Criminal Endangerment.
Better by far!

Now THAT’s a spectator sport…:)
Good Point DaninVan, Weather ain’t Climate indeed. Lets make sure we remember that next time Gore, Suzuki et al. start preaching the AGW cult after a WEATHER event.
Extreme sports are called that for a reason, eh? Shame about the two guys who bought it though. There are some things you just can’t tough out. People forget they have limits, I guess.
Whoa! Snow!? On the Alps!? That’s completely unheard of!
So, before some ‘none-so-blind-as-those-that-will-not-see’ fanatic comes along and calls Kate on using some sarc over two deaths – I would say her point is;
The Gore-Suzuki crowd have, for along time now, used many, many calamities to promote their fraud. Canes and Malaria and tornadoes and heat waves and floods and, and … you name it.
And, no, two wrongs do not make a right but there is a huge difference here – orders of magnitude.
I agree Ron every disaster is about global warming, even snow in June is about global warming somehow. Only idiots are still believing in global warming.
ron in kelowna,
And don’t forget our very own premier’s fearmongering claims of “firestorms” in our forests to sell his bogus carbon tax.
The best/worst so far has to be a Seattle anchorwoman who I heard link global warming to the horrific tsunami disaster of a few years ago.
As I have stated before, this ‘science’ will only be ‘settled’ to my satisfaction when I see fraud charges laid.
I agree with DaninVan on both counts. First, one off weather events are not evidence of much of anything — either way. And Kate is right to ridicule these one-offs as she does.
Two, anyone travelling in the mountains, winter or summer, needs to be prepared. It should be a condition of such a race that participants carry a pack weighing five to ten pounds. Fleece, a water proof shell and energy food would be wise choices and wouldn’t weigh much. They’d be enough to save lives not to mention avoiding placing a perfectly foreseeable burden on the rescue and medical services.
They will blame everything on global warming.

QE has conveniently forgotten the SAVE THE SNOW!!! scare stories from the alps last summer. They were wrapping the friggin’ glaciers in plastic to save them from global warming.
This year? Snow in July.
Gotta love that whole selective memory thing.
And snow in the interior of BC last week…in JULY…

“More Kidney Stone Disease Projected Due To Global Warming
(July 15, 2008) — Global warming is likely to increase the proportion of the population affected by kidney stones by expanding the higher-risk region known as the “kidney-stone belt” into neighboring states, researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center and UT Dallas have found.
Dehydration is one of the risk factors linked to kidney-stone disease, and the paper suggests global warming will exacerbate this effect. The researchers predict that by 2050, higher temperatures will cause an additional 1.6 million to 2.2 million kidney-stone cases, representing up to a 30 percent growth in some areas.”

It appears the two had a bad climate day.
The warming hysterics always say Weather ain’t climate when it’s adverse.
However, a flood here, a wild fire there, a tornado or hurricane … all signs of global warming.
We on the realist side are aware of this and deliberately point fingers and say HA-HA to chide the hypocritical liars.
The Goracle is to break the next seal and reveal a new revelation this coming Thursday!
As I think back ovwer the years, I realize that every year is different weather-wise. I remember hot summers, cool summers, brutal winters, gentle winters. That’s the nature of climate. Climate is just weather and weather conditions change often and sometimes dramatically.
To base a tax strategy on what amounts to weather is an almost brilliant, but devious plan. Brilliant only in the realization that so many of us are so gullible. Devious in knowing it’s bullshit, but not caring.
Now that everyone is paying more attention to weather, we will see that climate is what we talk about in regard to the various zones of the planet, but weather is always what we get and it’s always changing.
Attempting to prove catastrophic climate change (especially caused by us puny earthlings) is like trying to prove or disprove the existence of a deity. The evidence is alway sketchy and always based on beliefs rather than hard facts and evidence.
We should all concentrate on ridding ourselves of the green scammers and let the climate continue being whatever the sun, clouds and ocean currents make it.
Meanwhile the best advice is to dress warm in winter, peel off a bit in summer, carry an umbrella when it rains and stay away from tornadoes.
This rule will keep you out of trouble distinguishing between weather and climate.
If it is hot, it is climate. If it is cold, it is weather. If it is bad, it is climate, if it is good, it is weather. Write it on a little card and keep it in front of your computer and you can escape the wrath of the eco nazis.
Gee … nature don’t care what humans do … doesn’t hand out participant ribbons.
One day the earth will decide to scratch it’s ass and all us tiny carbon units will fall right off into the cosmic toilet. The earth will wipe, flush and go on about it’s business. A few million year no one will know we were ever actually here unless they check out the shit we left on the moon.
CBC (tsk tsk) predicts a very cooooool summer. Not in tune with what they were saying last fall. Only God knows what will happen if the planet should freeze. Gotta turn the heat up..Good night!!
“Weather is not climate” is wrong. Climate is simply the accumulation of daily weather.
Mankind can no more control the cimate than they can control the sun. Climate is controlled by the sun. See the video The Great Global Warming Swindle.
the sun has no sun spots now and therefore Cosmic rays hit the earths upper atmosphere creating increased cloud and a reflective surface for the suns rays and Voila the earth seems to cool.
Speaking of wood — someone has pointed out that to the extent that Greenshaft raises the cost of heating oil, many rural people will turn to burning wood to keep their homes warm. I am assuming that the Liberals are not planning to tax wood as a home fuel source, but I don’t know. Anyway, to the extent that there is a switch back to wood stoves, fireplaces, etc., the environment would be impacted in a negative way. The carbon tax is looking more and more sinister — bad for the economy, bad for national unity and now bad for the environment.
Who’d have thought that climate CHANGE would bring an UNEXPECTED storm to a mountaintop. Certainly not the experts at SDA.
Saskboy, A fine example of the climate/weather dialectic.
Saskboy, that is brilliant! Really! Predict warming with no chance of a cooling. Then check the data, see that the warming trend stopped, so rattle on about climate change! That way any unusual weather event that occurs, no matter what (that is the brilliant part) can be ascribed to global warming. It is just too good.
Except Saskboy, it is stupid and transparent and nobody but a knee jerk liberal will fall for it.
Stop picking on him, he’s just a “boy” from a certain Saskatchewan “village”.
And if he has a box of chocolates the when you see him sitting at a bus stop, it’s because they are like the weather, you never know what you gonna git.
Check out this artcle:

I agree with Lomborg, Gore, Suzuki et al are really damaging the world and its people (and especially the poor).
HA HA – old Sask Boy is here with his pearls of wisdom about Mother Natures “change” of life.
So Sasky, how come it is that anything bad that happens in this world is now related to global-warm..er climate change.
I see the BC government’s commercial for their green tax on TV and some of the things they are relating to climate change is a joke – I mean, fires in the Okanagan; gee I think they proved it was someone camping? Winds in Stanley Park – just because it happened in a populated area, everyone thinks it is something out of the ordinary. I wonder how many trees throughout the world have been knocked down by winds every day over the last millenia; avalanches in the Rockies – yep – there’s something that doesn’t happen every year???
If you believe that all these things were caused by global warm…er climate change; then you obviously do not have the brains to use your own common sense to think about what you are actually saying, it means that you will believe anything you are told without thinking about whether it is actually possible that it is true or not.
And that, Saskboy, means that a great segment of our population has been dumbed down and are unable to think for themselves. Sad really.
Because everyone knows that before global warming you could climb to the top of a mountain and set your thermometer by the temperature.
Saskboy – Nice use of UNEXPECTED … try UNEXPECTED!!!!! next time.
“a great segment of our population has been dumbed down and are unable to think for themselves. Sad really.”
Interesting really, how two people/groups can think the same thing about the other, isn’t it?
Saskboy,
Tell it to the Goreacle who swears to Gaia that every storm or hurricaine (in f’ing hurricane season no less!) is absolute, proof-positive that “climate change” will kill your family tomorrow.
Yeah Saskboy, that “why do you think they call it climate change” rhetoric is the height of intellectual sophistication. That is for sure. From now on, why hide your religious feelings? Just say “Gaia works in mysterious ways.” Religions are also non-disprovable, generally, the good ones anyway. Doomsday cults like the Church of Global Warming have this problem of going on the records with predictions. Us lumpenproles just don’t get the subtle sophistication of your self deception.
SBoy says, “Interesting really, how two people/groups can think the same thing about the other, isn’t it?”
Yes, it is interesting. But what’s really interesting is that one group happens to be right and one wrong, a concept that Sboy probably doesn’t buy into: too judgmental. Yes, both groups think the other has been dumbed down and can’t think for themselves.
However, it happens that conservatives are absolutely right on this one: it’s the liberals, after all, who totally control our public culture, who have done the dumbing down, and conservatives have had to adopt survival techniques to stay under or over the PC radar. I’ve debated lots of lefties: they’re on intellectual automatic pilot and quickly lose the argument, with their dumbed down, no-facts-need-interfere-with-my-dogma approach. Regular as clockwork, that’s when the no-brainer ad hominems start.
So, yes, it’s interesting that both sides think the same. But the facts support the conservatives’ observations that liberals, in general, are dumber than posts and can’t think, period! E.g., Listen to Boob Rae (CBC) and read Ed Broadbent (G & M) today, bemoaning the lack of due process for Omar Khadr: where have they been re the HRC human rights abuses of law-abiding Canadians right under their noses?
Sorry, Sboy.
Is global warming retroactive?
