  1. I keep hearing this business of 40 year olds being set in their ways and are almost certainly not going to change. It brings to mind the story of Alabama Governor George Wallace. During the American Civil Rights movement, he came to personify racial bigotry, but by the time the Civil Rights movement was over, he was a changed man. I suspect most people make significant changes in their world view somewhere between the ages of 35 and 45. Remember the old saying, “If you not a socialist at 20, there’s something wrong with your heart. If you’re still a socialist at 40, there’s something wrong with your head.”

  2. Anyone who calls another group “knuckle-draggers” is implying that they are inferior human beings, sub-human, really.
This can only lead to intolerance, bigotry, hatred, and even violence.
Clearly, such speech goes beyond what is justifiably tolerable in a free society. Such speech must be proscribed, and persons who utter it must pay a stiff penalty.
Unless, of course, its directed against social conservatives, who, as everybody knows, are nothing more than knuckle-dragging neanderthals.

  3. Heh…one of the commenters at Newsbusters thought Fife looked like Less Nessman…kinda fits.
When Duffy was chatting with Wall today I was getting a sense that ‘progressing’ meant more politically correct. Why is Brad not going after the NDP for releasing a private video of a private party?
Duffy also introduced Wall as the ‘Conservative’ Premier of Sask…?

  4. pretty disgusting to drag up 17 yr old private conversations, it would be lioke someone pointing out that Mr. Dion was a seperatist 17 yrs ago.

  5. Louise, you seem to be making the assumption that the “new mindset” is better than the “old mindset”. This is not always true. Not everyone buys into the gay agenda and that rejection is not evil. There are actual reasons behind the adherence to the ‘straight’ norms. I reject Fife’s slur because I reject the gay agenda. I have known quite a number of individuals who have crossed the gay/straight divide, sometimes more than once. Fife’s bigotry is based on the “once a gay always a gay” lie. Fife’s mindset has determined that it is good to normalise “gay”. I, having worked with a number of ex-gays, know what a harmful prison that lifestyle can be.

  6. Another poster at Newsbusters commented that when you are used to always crawling around on your stomach,’knuckledraggers’ is actually a big compliment.
    Says it all for me.

  7. Heard Norman Spector on CKNW’s Bill Good show referring to a certain Sask blogger as having posted some hateful nasty things recently (referring to Premier Wall in his comments as well). I find this amusing considering how Mr. Spector referred to Belinda Stronach as a “bitch” on live radio. He did not mention the name or gender of the blogger he was referring to.

  8. Thanks joe…well said.
Duffy also seemed to imply that if there weren’t so many ‘knuckledraggers’ in the CPC the the 12 or so closet gays in the HoC could ‘come out’.
That’s lame considering there is one known gay in the CPC cabinet.
Sorry but if they are still trying to ‘hide’ it’s not the fault of the CPC.
Duffy is in the same boat as Less Fife as far as I’m concerned.

how come the ndp gets a pass?
“Back in 1988, when the Sun’s Paul Jackson
was at the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, he broke
a startling story that showed Tommy Douglas,
now revered by the CBC as “the greatest
Canadian of all time,” eagerly recommending
    the CASTRATION OF HOMOSEXUALS
    and chronic criminals.”

    good grief.

  10. Robert Fife is a spiteful Liberal lickspittle commentator bent on smearing conservatives and Harper in particular.
He affectively included all the conservative caucus with his knuckledragger smear, not worthy of a person in his position in major Canadian news disseminator.
He deserves to be mocked and belittled as a serious
journalist, the equivalent and believable as a Karlheinz.

  11. Norm Spector.. LOL. That brings back memories.
Does anyone have the address to his nursing home? Should send him a card.

  12. Would you prefer MOUTH-BREATHERS???
It’s time for an epiphany. Due to your non-belief in evolution; It has passed you by due to ignorance.

  13. Is that comment directed at anyone in particular, Quimby? I mean the one about evolution.
You do understand that stating a “belief” in evolution is no more significant that stating a “belief” in the tooth fairy.
Some of us like to weigh the evidence. I come down on the side of evolution. I also believe in Darwinism, (see my comments on IV drug users). I’m also an athiest, though I reserve the right to change my mind should my impending cessation of mortality raise its ugly head….
    So, really, I’m pretty consistent.
Or was it someone else you were directing your comments to?

  14. It wasn’t only elected members of the Conservative Party whom Fife was insulting and denigrating with his ‘knuckle-draggers’. It was each and every Canadian who voted for the Conservatives.
He should apologize. So should Mike Duffy.
Their anti-Harper, anti-Conservative and pro-Liberal bias is overwhelming. If they are so upset over a PRIVATE tape made 17 years ago, then, why aren’t they upset over statements against gays made by Liberal MPs – now and earlier? (These statements have been posted in other threads). Why do they act as if no Liberal, no NDP, ever said (thought) such things?
On Duffy’s show today, he seemed to want to ‘forget’ the whole incident. Is that how he and Fife treat us when they insult us? They want it all forgotten? (Like the Liberals want us to forget that they owe the taxpayer over 40 million that they stole from us?)
Yet, on Duffy’s show today, speaking of the Quebec City Armoury fire, he was suggesting that Harper will want to rebuild the site..not because it’s the correct thing to do, but as a ‘photo-op’ and for votes.
What’s the matter with these people? Are they so perverted from the Liberal mindset that they cannot think that people can be, and do, things out of pure goodness and integrity? Is everything just For Votes? I know that’s the way it is for the Liberals…but…it isn’t that way for all of us.
Again – where’s the apology from Fife and Duffy for insulting so many Canadians – just because they voted Conservative?

  15. Quimby:
    OK, I’ll bite.
Bear in mind, it’ still called the THEORY of evolution, since there has never been any credible scientific evidence that one species can ‘evolve’ into another.
Much the same way that human nature cannot be ‘evolved’ through man-made laws. Soviet Russia, National Socialist Germany are the two major examples of political theories based upon the original flawed science.
Robert Fife: He walks, he talks, he crawls on his belly like a reptile.

  16. Speaking of knuckledraggers, has anyone seen Hedy Fry lately. I hear there are crosses burning in Prince Geo.

  17. CTV has no credibility, which holds true for virtually all of the Canadian MSM – I’d be curious to know what the ratings are for CTV News today compared to just a few years ago….

  18. Well, it is nice to see the true face of the enemy.
If I am a “knuckle dragger”, then you are a “faggot”.
If I am a “mouth breather”, then you are a “dyke”.
If I am an “infidel”, then you bow to a “pedophile murderer”.
If I am a “neo-con fascist”, then you are a “leftarded commie”.
So, until the day comes that the left stops their insults and bigotry, what we conservatives say is of no business to you.
STFU, and grow up, you leftarded morons!

  19. Over at the Newsbusters website there is a comment that states that even though they live about 75 miles from canada, they will not visit because of our anti-american and off the charts liberal. I’ll bet the progressives are proud of keeping those knuckle-dragging,cash-spending,cave dwellers away.

  20. A decade ago CTV fired Avery Haines for her “off camera” comments insulting “lesbians, blacks,” and the “disabled,” among others in a joking manner. She thought that the network had gone to commercial break but in fact the camera was still rolling.
Here are Haines’ comments while thinking the she was off camera:
“I kind of like the little stuttering thing. It’s like equal opportunity, right? We’ve got a stuttering newscaster. We’ve got the black, we’ve got the Asian, we’ve got the woman. I could be a lesbian, folk-dancing, black woman stutterer. What’s that? In a wheelchair … with a gimping, rubber legs. Yeah, really. I’d have a successful career, let me tell you.”
She gets fired by CTV for a comment made in jest that is clearly not a reflection of her true beliefs but Fife, who, unlike Haines, meant what he said and said it Live, gets a free pass. Never mind disciplinary action from CTV in the form of a reprimand or at least an apology, there’s been no action at all. As was the case with Pablogate there’s nothing being reported about this story.
Bias in the MSM? What bias?

  21. Does Fife et al do any statistical work to determine if their spin actually works? I have my doubts now, given demographics and the pervasiveness of broadband.
What could be funnier than the Fife and Lloyd show spinning away like mad to three people who could care less?
I suspect that this is actually the case. They are most influential in their own minds. Reminds me of a punk rocker who s*its in hell…

  22. Inorder to make a “dent” in this bias reporting of CTV…. Mike Duffy…. Robert Fife, we must contact CTV sponsors and tell them, we as a group of Canadians do not believe the news media they are sponsoring should refer to us as “knuckle-draggers. We have to expose what is happening on T.V. with their reporting. To have the likes of Jane Tabor opening say… people over the age of 40 just can’t change, doesn’t that go against our complete justice system. Don’t we hope the people put in prison can be changed… if not… what is the good!…. CTV has stopped Mike Duffy from having any reporters on from the “West”… they were too pro-conservative in their discussions, they only allow, Fife, and we know what he is about…. Gloria Galloway, whos husband is dion’s stragetist… and Jane Tabor, who is so pro-liberal she almost falls and squirms out of her chair when the Tories are talking, trying to shut them up… and Oliver… whos sister is married to another liberal stragetist. Great bunch!… I think it would be great if CTV hired Mrs. Harper to report on Dion…. same thing!

  24. CTV allowed comments on the story of Prime Minister Harper’s reaction in the HoC today.
The majority are disgusted that the media and Libs have dragged this on. Some very interesting comments from gays…perhaps Fife and Duffy should enlighten themselves by reading the comments.

  25. Fife’s knuckledragger comments are actually an insult to all Canadians, because they insult our duly elected Prime Minister and his party and not only those who voted for them but everyone who participates in Canadian democracy.
Fife and his ilk seem to think they know better than the majority of voters in Canada.

  26. Guys (and girls)
If you want to maintain any credibility with this Liberal trash, please don’t diminish yourselves with these silly evolution vs. creation arguments.
It is fine if you want to believe in creation. That will always be acceptable and your right if we don’t let these Human Right’s Commisions have their way.
However, arguments like “evolution is just a theory,” just make you look stupid.
Like evolution, “GRAVITY” is JUST a scientific theory.
Both are solidly established, and supported within the scientific community. They are accepted because no one has been able to scientifically find (and they have tried) significant flaws with either of them over an extended period of time.
This is how they became accepted as “scientific theories.”
When these Liberal socialists throw these bones to you, they are playing the age old political game of, “Do you still beat your wife?”
Please, do have enough common sense to recognize it and stick to calling them on the hypocrisy they spew.
Most of them are practicing Catholics after all!!

  27. Now if you have followed politics for a long, long time, perhaps you many remember this interesting behavior.
Soon after Reagan was elected as the president of the US certain Rather, on television news every night, would come up with a sad story that was happening to this or that person due to Reagan. The connection to Reagan was not necessary; it was Reagan’s fault and that was that.
Every one knows now, why this was going on and of course the infamous end of Rather when he tried to do the same to Bush.
It would seem that Fife is following in the footsteps or perhaps do monkey see monkey do, following Rather. Maybe Rather was Fifes idol, who knows.
On the other hand people here know that the ‘journalists’ are degenerating rather faster than you would expect from people that went to school for a long time.
Another thing is, that a newsman is more of a talent than something you lear. Much like a painter, sculptor or a composer. If someone is like yours truly, no amount of art classes is going to make a painter out of him, so it is with a newsman.
Therein may lay the problems of today’s ‘journalists’.

  28. John,
    No argument here.
That’s why we can’t can’t let them divert the conversation from facts to beliefs.
Hit’em hard and don’t let them distract you.
It is after all, the only defense they have!!

  29. Periodically CTV invites “knuckle-draggers” on to discuss and debate issues. I’m thinking Rutherford, Adler or Ezra. Wouldn’t it be interesting if they were to confront Fife, on air, on his statements. Just make fun of him. What’s that? Fife runs away and hides when told a conservative’s coming to town? Gets the Philadelphia Flu? Well then confront the big Duffer. Push him to answer the question if he thinks all social cons. are “knuckle-draggers”. Ask if it’s professional to denigrate a certain group of people on air and if that helps the cause. Push him to seriously answer without patronizing, “Awe, come on you Westerners, you’ve got to lighten up out there…” Not sure if the radio talking heads are up to it, so Ezra if you’re out there, next time you’re in their company hold their feet to the fire. Hold them accountable!

  30. How you got here is far less important then, what are you doing here????
You can’t solve your problem, until you admit you have one.

  31. Mr. Quimby,
    I know I shouldn’t pay attention to trolls but…
You ask us to admit we have a problem.
    Okay.
You are part of our problem and we no longer accept what you represent or tell us we must accept, to be Canadians.
Offer us reasonable replies or become irrelevant.
    Brent

  32. Brent there are no facts. Everything is a belief. I believe this you believe that. The point of THIS exercise is to stop belittling the other person’s beliefs. Fife BELIEVES that gay is legitimate and uses the belittlement of his opponents to prevent rational discussion. IMHO your solution is in fact the problem.

  33. Joe,I disagree. It doesn’t really matter what Fife believes,he could be a closet gay-basher,he and many others will use anything to put the conservatives in a negative light.

  34. Quimby, you imbecile. The word is ‘than’ NOT ‘then’. John W. got it right. Come back when you have a command of the language.

  35. Joe,
You state there are no facts.
Okay, are you willing to state that gravity is just an idea based only on faith or will you admit it is a very solid concept with no conceivable alternative at this point in our understanding of the world we live in?
I put to you that evolution is very much established (scientifically) on the same levels of science as gravity.
If you wish to believe in creation that is quite within your right. I will not now or ever, dispute or diminish that right.
I believe in God myself, but also acknowledge it is based in faith.
Having an education based in science, I also cannot deny the validity of evolution, based on what we know of our existence at this time.
I am not belittling your beliefs or faith.
I am simply saying that silly arguments against scientifically established theories like evolution AND gravity, make it easy for these socialist cretins to paint us as uneducated buffoons unworthy of listening to.
We cannot debate them and win, if we allow them to portray us as unworthy of sitting at the debate table.
Don’t let them drag us into a conversation that is irrelevant to the original discussion and quite frankly, an argument you will never win with them.
They won’t listen to you on these kind of topics.
    Stick to the original issues.
    Brent

  36. Brent:
Mr. Fife proves that self-righteousness is part of human nature whose smug face can surface at any time and from any side of the political spectrum.
Right and left are irrelevant labels. Right and wrong is what really maters.
Is it right to portray other humans with words that suggest they are inferior or ‘less evolved’ if they disagree with a viewpoint?
Or is that particular technique something exclusive of the left wing or right wing? Which one?
BTW, it’s called the LAW of gravity, not the theory of gravity. That’s a scientific fact.

  37. Nobody has to use anything, you fools continually are putting your feet firmly in your mouths.
A part of me hopes for another depression, so you cro-mags can put your money where your mouth is and put those boot straps to some use.
    Hubris is a bitch.

  38. I was right… trying to respond to a troll is a waste of time.
    Hopefully lesson learned. 🙂
    “Set you free,”
Maybe it’s just me and the late hour, but what the #%&$& are you talking about?
I never claimed to support what Fife had to say, only that the conversation had been dragged away from what was originally being discussed.
“Right and left are irrelevant labels. Right and wrong is what really maters (sic).”
Who gets to choose which is which???
    You?
Right and wrong are relative concepts.
    Back to my original point.
    Stick to the original issue.
The left wing media bias aimed at painting anyone not Liberal or further left as a “knuckle dragger.”
    Ts’all I was sayin’.
    Brent

  39. Brent:
As a matter of fact, I get to choose what’s right for me. Can’t be bothered trying to control other’s lives.
BTW, Bob Fife, not the ‘left-wing media’ (your syntax error for leaving out the hyphen) made the ‘knuckle-dragger’ statement.
Where an I wrong on that point?

  40. Newsbuster*s writes a clear and tight story line.
It*s easy to agree and see the point so well made.
Newsbusters sets too many cookies though. There were nine [9] that had to be dis-allowed.
He sure has a lot of info collectors. = TG

  41. BTW, anyone remember last year, when Taber and Oliver were touting new show plans for QP,where viewers could participate? They promo’d this idea on quite a few shows..all of a sudden,no more mention of it.I’m wondering if the videotaped questions sent to them were all from P.O’d Cons??
Stephen Taylor has good post on another vacant ctv ‘reporter’..the winged-hair wonder LaFlamme, and her slant on Chuck Heston.

  42. Brent you and I agree that we believe in gravity because we see evidence of it every day. You and I might disagree on the origin of the universe and the cause of the variety of life we see on this planet. The point I am making is that the battle we are engaging in with the left is the devaluation of honestly held beliefs. My most sincere hope is that each proposition is treated with respect and never denigrated simply because it is politically incorrect. Each belief must be examined and if found wanting rejected but to dismiss it on its face is intellectually dishonest and as a society and as a culture we are the poorer for dismissing it.

  43. Lets look at the current Popes background and conditioning when he was younger and his later friendship with a Polish Pope.

  44. I know Fife burned me and knuckle draggers like me, that sucks Joe. It sucks that the national news would report it. Your hope for mutual respect, it’s found wanting.

  45. “… the devaluation of honestly held beliefs.”
    -Joe at April 8, 2008 12:34 AM
What’s so honest about homophobia and racism?
How is anything based on faith, honestly held?
What the hell does that really mean?
    Please define.
