  1. Apparently the number journalists in Iraq is down by 65% since the violence has declined by 80%!
    A ‘corresponding decline’ ?

  2. Excellent outline; it shows how the Iraqi government and people are themselves taking charge of their economy. They are working within a federation, acknowledging regional interests, and trying to balance (in the oil industry) nationalist and foreign investment.
    They are moving out of tribalism and into a civic mode of economic and political governance. It’s not easy; it won’t happen overnight, but they’ve accomplished a great deal.
    Iran won’t like this growing self-reliance. Neither will our socialist left.
