Y2Kyoto: The Sound Of Silenced Science

Via Andrew Bolt;

The United Nations has rejected all attempts by a group of dissenting scientists seeking to present information at the climate change conference taking place in Bali, Indonesia.
The International Climate Science Coalition (ICSC) has been denied the opportunity to present at panel discussions, side events, and exhibits; its members were denied press credentials. The group consists of distinguished scientists from Africa, Australia, India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The scientists, citing pivotal evidence on climate change published in peer-reviewed journals, have expressed their opposition to the UN’s alarmist theory of anthropogenic global warming.

Ross McKitrick served as an external reviewer for the IPCC report in 2005;

Scientists who attribute warming to greenhouse gases argue that their climate models cannot reproduce the surface trends from natural variability alone. They then attribute it to greenhouse gases, since (they assume) all other human influences have been removed from the data by the adjustment models. If that has not happened, however, they cannot claim to be able to identify the role of greenhouse gases. Despite the vast number of studies involved, and the large number of contributors to the IPCC reports, the core message of the IPCC hinges on the assumption that their main surface climate data set is uncontaminated. And by the time they began writing the recent Fourth Assessment Report, they had before them a set of papers proving the data are contaminated. […] Confronted with published evidence of an anthropogenic (but non-greenhouse) explanation for warming, they dismissed it with an unproven conjecture of natural causes. Who’s the “denialist” now?

Flashback – Exerpts: Memorandum by Professor Paul Reiter;

The scientific literature on mosquito-borne diseases is voluminous, yet the text references in the chapter were restricted to a handful of articles, many of them relatively obscure, and nearly all suggesting an increase in prevalence of disease in a warmer climate. The paucity of information was hardly surprising: not one of the lead authors had ever written a research paper on the subject! Moreover, two of the authors, both physicians, had spent their entire career as environmental activists. One of these activists has published “professional” articles as an “expert” on 32 different subjects, ranging from mercury poisoning to land mines, globalization to allergies and West Nile virus to AIDS.

And from the suppressed to the absurd;

China is being heralded as a leader on environmental initiatives at an international conference on climate change in Bali, Indonesia.

This isn’t science. This is Alice in Baliland.
And the guppies who bob in our media fishbowl will simply blink, gulp, and swim on.

  1. Orlin, ditto for Shanghai.
It is commendable to the people of China that they depend so reliably on bicycles to get around. The road systems in some cities that I’ve seen do accomodate bicycle and pedestrian traffic quite well.
However, anyone who actually believes that China is taking leadership in environmental initiatives probably hasn’t actually been there and inhaled. The massive buildup of highway infrastructure, freeways and bridges (many of which I have seen ironically DO NOT accomodate bicycle traffic), not to mention the ever increasing smog, is because more and more people are trading in their bicycles for automobiles (OK, many traded up to electric bikes). Also recall their recent multi-billion dollar Airbus order. Any initiatives they are taking are understandably to alleviate increased energy and infrastructure demand, and to possibly clean up the air (nothing whatsoever to do with CO2).
Of course they support Kyoto (while not committing to it). Why wouldn’t they? If Kyoto is in any way successful, it will reduce the West’s energy demand and thus put downward pressure on global prices as well as increase supply. As an increasingly net importer of energy, China needs all the price breaks it can get while at the same time securing supply. In this game it is playing its hand expertly: supporting Kyoto has no downside at all as long as enough apologists in the West step up to defend China’s non-commitment to emissions cuts.

  2. Ican’t believe that the UN would actually name China as a leader on enviromental issues. What next, maybe make Mugabe the chairman of the committee on sustainable economy?

  3. What really eats me is that organizations like “Germanwatch” presumes to scold Canada over this nonsense. How about we set up a group called Chickenwatch and rank the Nato countries who are too cowardly to step up and battle the true danger in the world today…middle east terrorism. We can give them a lily livered award.

  4. To day in the paper it was stated that more than 200 climate scientists including a Canadian called fore the world to cut greenhouses gases in half; By 2050. What ever happened to the 3000 climatologist? The IPCC do have a problem when comes to figures and facts. It’s a grave crisis a geo-science professor said. Were do the get these people; off the back of ceral boxes. The article also stated that they have 150 global business leaders. Probably carbon credit traders,or they had newspaper routes once. Once the brain malfuctions it never recovers.

  5. “The IPCC/China/moonbat argument is based on some sort of moralityissue about the West consuming more than its fair share of the world’s resources so we “owe” them.”
Isn’t this argument fundamentally flawed? We haven’t gotten anything for free. All the resources we’ve consumed have been paid for. In other words, for every unit of consumption we’ve had to produce something of equivalent value, so how can it be that we owe anything?
If we owe anything to anybody, it’s to our ancestors who worked their asses off so that their descendants could have a better life. And what we owe them is to not squander our wealth on retarded “social justice” scams.

  6. Canada is in fact a rather bad air polluter, but the global warming scam artists love to intentionally confuse pollution with greenhouse gasses.
I’d be more than happy if Canada took measures to reduce pollution, clean up the great lakes, etc. And it is the *pollution* that comes from burning coal that is the real problem, not the greenhouse gasses.
But as for Kyoto and all its related scams, I hope we have the good sense to stay as far away from the circus as possible.
Harper seems to have his head screwed on right, but others don’t, witness Campbell in BC (although some would argue his recent announcements to reduce greenhouse gasses are just window dressing which is a good thing)

  7. Our Minister of the Environment has signalled he wants a broad review of Kyoto. Here’s what the Sierra Club of Canada had to say in response:
“We don’t want a broad review that puts into question the broad principles of Kyoto. We want to build on the architecture of the Kyoto Protocol.”
These idiots seem prepared to cling to their scam for as long as they possibly can. It’s unbelievable.
I suppose what else would you do when you realize your act is about to come to an end. Might as well keep on selling tickets to the show until you eventually get laughed off the stage (unfortunately we’re not quite at that point yet but it’s coming).

  8. who was it said a lie travels around the world before the truth gets out of bed?…something like that.

  9. A few years ago, whenever the MMGW topic came up, there would not be many comments. Even at sda. Of the ones that did, many were supportive of Maurice Strong and his clan.
IMO, Kate, among others, has been a leading blogger in bringing air to the Kyoto Hoax. (Initially, I used the handle, ‘B. Hoax Aware’ )
Today, the the number of people willing to publicly stand up (even anonymously) and defend the Kyoto Hoax, has dropped off dramatically. It takes courage to admit one is wrong. Al Gore never will, as he is a Classic Nut Case !
Many, many have now caught on to the scam and are voicing it. I have to admit, I was taken up to about 2001. The Y2K scam helped me realise there are BIG scam-sters out there.
    FIRSTLY
Is ‘long-term’, ‘unnatural’ global warming happening ?
10% chance(IMO). After all, Kyoto is based on Mann’s hockey stick graph, which is a proven fraud.
    SECONDLY
Are rising CO2 concentrations responsible for all the warming ?
Not likely. 20% chance (IMO). In the past, before and after mankind emerged, the earth’s climate warmed BEFORE CO2 conc increased. Might be the case again. Our Sun and the Solar System is the major driver for earth’s climate. Besides, CO2 is the least important of the greenhouse gases — water vapour being the most important. (The so-called ‘tipping-point’ has NEVER been, even remotely, proven)
    20% of 10% equals 2%
    THIRDLY
Of this 2% chance, how much of it is man responsible for ? Probably some, for sure. 40% (IMO) (All Earthlings should use energy wisely) But, the earth’s atmospheric CO2 conc has varied throught the Millenium anyways. At times being much, much higher than today. And the Polar Bears loved it 🙂
    40% of 2% equals 0.8%
So, with all these ‘IFs’ we are left with a small, 0.8% “reason” to “repent”. (Including Al, private jet, Gore)
Repent by throwing away room temperature, the second vehicle, the cottage, rec vehicles, steak BBques, winter vacations (except for a few in Bali), homes over 800 sq ft, on and on.
And what will Canadians gain ? More ice and snow, and ….. and … tap, tap.

  10. A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes. –
    Mark Twain of course
    an update would be
A lieberal(Borat Dion) can travel half way around the world while the truth is sitting at Sussex Drive.

  11. As for the media, here is an interesting little tidbit for anyone who can keep their lunch down when going to the Globe and Mail website. The Globe and Mail has an interesting little trick in their comments section. If you make a comment and they don’t like you, you will see your remark in the comments…..the problem is that ONLY you will see it. Your comments are blocked out to any other viewer. That way, posters THINK their comments have been posted, but they haven’t. More “ethics” from probably the worst newspaper on the planet.

  12. Fred, I’m copying that and sending it out.
Also this, from Greg in Dallas,
“Today the Harmonic Convergence, the Aquarian Age, and Global Warming have been created because they are a “product” that can be sold to idealistic, naive populations and that will allow global elite operators, many working in the UN, to make huge profits.
Somehow they began to realize that you could “sell the sizzle” and not even have any steak.”
Maybe it’s not that we should, “thin out the herd,” as Dennis Leary believes. Maybe we should razor off the head, like with a good beer.

  13. “And the guppies who bob in our media fishbowl will simply blink, gulp, and swim on”.
Yes. The cold hard truth about the media.
Who is responsible (liable) for Kyoto’s “success” ?
    IMO, in descending order;
    The Media
    The United Nations
    Hollywood
    Universities
    The fanatical of the Enviros
    Scamers
    The public School system

  14. So, the environmental organization, Germanwatch, thinks Canada sucks, eh ?? (Kate’s link)
Did it consider that Canada is a huge, huge country compared to Gemany ? With a lot less people.
That Canada has a huge part of mother earth’s entire surface ?
That Canadians, probably have the most clean air per capita of ANY country in the world ?
    And this is so galling;
“Matthew Bramley of the Pembina Institute, who contributed to the study, said Canada’s credibility on the issue is being questioned.”
‘WHOSE’ credibility ‘IS’ being questioned, Matthew ?? Who was your so-called “professor of knowledge”, Matthew ?? Suzuki ??

  15. Great posts. I really hope the Harper does tell them that Canada will not sign any agreement that does not include all countries. They will not sell or buy any carbon credits. They might threaten to boycott Canadian resources, have at it, make our products better instead of importing these cheap products from so called poor countries.
Check out any Walmart, Zellers, Sears or any of so called shoe stores, just to name a few, 95% of the products are made from Asian countries. This is happening all over North America.
The so called UN is the most crooked outfit in the world right now. Merle Underwood.

  16. Did the United Nations ban this guy fron Bali too ?
Dr David Whitehouse is an astronomer and the author of ‘The Sun: A Biography’ (John Wiley, 2004)
[Something is happening to our Sun. It has to do with sunspots, or rather the activity cycle their coming and going signifies. After a period of exceptionally high activity in the 20th century, our Sun has suddenly gone exceptionally quiet. Months have passed with no spots visible on its disc. We are at the end of one cycle of activity and astronomers are waiting for the sunspots to return and mark the start of the next, the so-called cycle 24. They have been waiting for a while now with no sign it’s on its way any time soon.
Ever since the sunspot cycle was discovered, researchers have looked for its rhythm superimposed on the Earth’s climate. In some cases it’s there but usually at low levels. But there was something strange about the time when the sunspots disappeared that left scientists to ponder if the sun’s unusual behaviour could have something to do with the fact that the 17th century was also a time when the Earth’s northern hemisphere chilled with devastating consequences.]
    The Little Ice Age.
Now, just think. If an up and coming Gore/Suzuki type, could just dream up a suitable villan — PRESTO !! The next scam. All the media required ingredients. A villan. Mankinds demise. Fear of the future.
Blaming it on ole Sol would be a tough sell though 🙂

  17. Err isn’t this how the commies snookered us decades ago into giving them a voice until they took over. Now they don’t believe in dissenting opinions all of a sudden?

Wow, now we are an army of TWO!
Problem: No *Sizzle* in coal-gen clean tech.
Nothing sexy about stack collectors and other expensive retro-fits.
Tree plantations to better hold water vapour and stabelize water tables..
    BORING!
Let*s watch Al Gore*s [sic] movie again..= TG

  20. Will the people who get behind global warming get behind global cooling when it comes? Since increasing our carbon footprint won’t make it any warmer what will the industrial world do to counteract the cooling of the atmosphere?

  21. Ah, truthsayer —- nothing.
Except turn up the thermostat. ‘Live better electrically’, and all that 🙂
Mankind can warm up the cities a degree or two but of the total surface of the Earth, the area of the cities account for a drop in the bucket.

  22. will act as financial mediators in this money transference
This is typical of the do-nothing, but reap-big-rewards crowd. Become the middleman, add no real value but skim the tasty stuff from the top.
There is some value in being a connector but most of those who practice it these days are in it just for a quick buck, not long-term, positive results for the economy and society at large. It’s all ME, ME, ME, RIGHT NOW it seems.
    Just my opinion.

  23. Greg in Dallas at December 7, 2007 2:11 PM:
Sell the sizzle, not the steak.
That’s most of the problem. Every worthwhile goal deserves an effective followthrough and delivery of promises, not hand-waving and the “Oh, wait, look over there instead!” tactics.
Obfuscation and back-stabbing are no match for honesty and integrity. Or at least I hope so…

  24. Clean tech retrofit for Coal-gen plants is a worthy priority cause
What is “clean coal”? I worked on one quite some time ago (the concept was to add oxygen to more completely incinerate the fuel – I layed-out one of the cold boxes’ internal piping). Did it succeed? Producing (or rather, fractionating) liquid oxygen on this scale is expensive because it requires a dedicated facility and a LOT of electricity.

  25. We want to build on the architecture of the Kyoto Protocol.
Wow, I’m going on a record tonight, 4 posts in a row. Sorry.
It seems to me that they are building on an architecture that they don’t understand since they appear to not be able to think critically. You typically hear this sort of “long-term thinking” from a lot of wannabes, people who have that politically downloaded think globally, act locally mindset.
This mindset conveniently encourages ignorance of local, important issues and focuses on the well-being of the planet (whatever the hell that means). It gives the believer a false sense of importance (I’m helping to save the world!), and those that wish to deceive others for political gains don’t exactly encourage independent thinking.
I could show you incredibly detailed engineering drawings and be able to explain (in plain, easy-to-understand language) every single nuance and why that tiny detail exists. But that’s easy.
Here we have a solution looking for a problem.

  26. PiperPaul,
“Clean Coal” is just high quality coal which means that it is naturally very low in impurities (sulfites, mercury, etc.) and so it is much easier to remove ‘all’ of the impurities than with “Dirty Coal”. For example, most of the coal deposits in places like Pennsylvania etc. are “Dirty Coal” whereas most of the coal from places like Wyoming are “Clean Coal”.

  27. Wally j, the UN naming China an environmental leader, suprised, is Maurice Strong not pulling the strings of the UN from his hiding place in Beijing?
Too bad about that Oil for Food Scandal problem that’s hounding the old fart.

  28. The leftists UN dont want to hear anything that proves this whole GLOBAL WARMING is a big time fruad and rip off and thats why they have deliberatly left out the MEDEVAL WARM PERIOD in the latest IPCC report the UN is the biggist soarce of lies, dicet, and crime around ITS TIME TO GET OURSELVES OUT OF THE UN AND GET THE UN OUT OF THE USA

  29. Clean coal is actually the scrubbers and other technology that they retrofit a dirty coal plant with. It reduces smog emmissions by 96.4%. It also reduces mercury and particulate matter to almost zero. There’s also a new sequestering technology which eliminates CO2. You can also burn wood, garbage and hay pellets, which further reduces pollution.
We have a 250 year supply of coal. This technology must be made available. It’s stable, dependable and keeps the prices cheap.
But despite this information and the fact that it’s a lot cheaper to retrofit existing coal plants than to create new natural gas plants (which reduce smog emmissions by the same amount as clean coal), or anything else – ‘coal’ is not PC approved.
Other than in Scandanavian countries which are using this technology to their benefit.

  30. Mo Strong is the Granddaddy of Kyoto, there’s not a chance in hell he will find any pollution problems in is favourite place to hang out, China.
We subsidize China, we lose factories and of course jobs to that place then turn around and buy often inferior products. If we follow the dictates under Kyoto we’d have to buy their frigging air. Is there something bordering on insanity here?
