Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

DCE TRESPASSER ATTEMPTS TO KILL OCCUPATION PROTESTER

“After waiting approx. 40 minutes after the first 911 call I phoned again to report the license plate and to tell them I was going to close down Argyle St. to protect the crime scene. I was informed that was illegal and I told the OPP they needed to get to the scene to review tire tracks.
(…)
Just how long would OPP have taken to get to the DCE area if I had not forced the OPP car to stop is something we will never know. But one thing is quite clear, a town with 10 times more OPP than any other town its size could have been on the scene within 5 minutes if they wanted to.”
We note the OPP are responding to 911 calls in Caledonia with all the speed and urgency the situation warrants??

The unresolved event in question is the murder of three security personnel in an American diplomatic convoy. The Palestinian terrorists involved remain unpunished.

As an Albertan, I support fully our 10% provincial flat tax.
Of course, Calvert’s campaign is based on Saskatchewan being not like Alberta. Back to the campfire for more Kumbaya, then.

Not in Ontario. We love being taxed to death as much as we love McGuinty. Can’t you tell?
Watch an eBay *event* unfold. The congressional letter that was sent to attempt a censure of Rush Limbaugh has been put up for auction.
As Rush says:
“Up for auction is the original letter signed by 41 Democrat senators. This historic document may well represent the first time in the history of America that this large a group of U.S. senators attempted to demonize a private citizen by lying about his views. As such, it is a priceless memento of the folly of Harry Reid and his 40 senatorial co-signers.”
“The entire proceeds of this auction.. the entire high bid… will be donated to The Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation, a registered charity which provides financial assistance to the children of fallen Marines and federal law enforcement officers.”

The bid this morning is at $45,100 and counting, with 4 days to go in the bidding.
Payback is a bitch… 😉
Is this what it has come to? An allegation that a book was destroyed in some mud hut in Afghanistan leads to an investigation and front page media coverage? Are we (the West) really that weak-kneed that we must cower before the resentment of some Islamic villager? Unbelievable…
[…]
KABUL, Afghanistan — The U.S. military said Monday it had looked into allegations that soldiers had desecrated the Quran during a raid on an Afghan home and found no evidence that soldiers had defaced the Muslim holy book.
“We looked into it. There was no desecration of the Quran or any religious symbol by U.S. forces,” Belcher said. “Had a soldier desecrated it, we would take action.”

Arab-Israeli Fatalities Rank 49th
By Gunnar Heinsohn and Daniel Pipes
FrontPageMagazine.com | Monday, October 08, 2007
The Arab-Israeli conflict is often said, not just by extremists, to be the world’s most dangerous conflict – and, accordingly, Israel is judged the world’s most belligerent country.
For example, British prime minister Tony Blair
told the U.S. Congress in July 2003 that “Terrorism will not be defeated without peace in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine. Here it is that the poison is incubated. Here it is that the extremist is able to confuse in the mind of a frighteningly large number of people the case for a Palestinian state and the destruction of Israel.” This viewpoint leads many Europeans, among others, to see Israel as the most menacing country on earth.
But is this true? It flies in the face of the well-known pattern that liberal democracies do not aggress; plus, it assumes, wrongly, that the Arab-Israeli conflict is among the most costly in terms of lives lost.
To place the Arab-Israeli fatalities in their proper context, one of the two co-authors, Gunnar Heinsohn, has compiled statistics to rank conflicts since 1950 by the number of human deaths incurred. Note how far down the list is the entry in bold type.
Conflicts since 1950 with over 10,000 Fatalities*
1 40,000,000 Red China, 1949-76 (outright killing, manmade famine, Gulag)
2 10,000,000 Soviet Bloc: late Stalinism, 1950-53; post-Stalinism, to 1987 (mostly Gulag)
3 4,000,000 Ethiopia, 1962-92: Communists, artificial hunger, genocides

CNN MEDIA SURGE? (YON REPLACES WARE IN IRAQ?)
I was watching CNN (I know, I know!, but I was actually channel surfing) and imagine my shock when I saw a report from IRAQ. Instead of the perpetually negative MICAHAEL WARE going on about how unsafe Iraq, Baghdad and anywhere outside the Green Zone was, I saw Michael Yon giving a balanced report of the progress the surge has had…………….. ,,,,To me, this is a sure sign that the surge has made a difference, NOT just on the ground in Iraq, but in an equally important battlefield, the MSM. For CNN to put on Michael Yon is tantamound to admitting their correspondent WARE has been drinking to much of the liberal Kool Aid. Am I wrong, or is the first time Yon has been featured as a reporter on CNN?…-

Linda Leatherdale is reporting (Via a rec’d email) in the Toronto Sun oct.15/07 that inside ont.ministry of finance their is a rumor that Mcguinty plans a 2% pst hike with 1% going to municipalities & 1% to transit, this would take place after the Federal budget that will see another reduction in the GST & in personal income taxes. Also in the Email rec’d this is why Toronto’s Mayor miller remained quiet during the prov election.
Now that McGuinty is in for four more years don’t bet on any action to resolve Caledonia thug standoff. Someone will get killed in that place before anything will be done about it.
We all know what went down after Indian Dudley George was killed.
Indians are never to blame of course, it’s all the white mans fault. Indians are above the law of the land apparently. Everything that happens due to their own actions is our fault.
At Brussels Journal a review of Diana West’s book “The Death of Grownups” here.
According to Diana West, the organizing thesis of her book “is that the unprecedented transfer of cultural authority from adults to adolescents over the past half century or so has dire implications for the survival of the Western world.” Having redirected our natural development away from adulthood and maturity in order to strike the pop-influenced pose of eternally cool youth – ever-open, non-judgmental, self-absorbed, searching for (or just plain lacking) identity – we have fostered a society marked by these same traits. In short: Westerners live in a state of perpetual adolescence, but also with a corresponding perpetual identity crisis. West thinks maturity went out of style in the rebellious 1960s, “the biggest temper tantrum in the history of the world,” which flouted authority figures of any kind.

Stephen Harper slays, with his first words in Parliament, the Jabberwock, aka “The frumious Bandersnatch”.
It is the most potent putdown ever in Canada’s Parliamentary history.
First parliamentary “exchange between Chretien and Harper from May 22, 2002.”
Conservative Harper takes his seat for the first time as Leader of the Opposition.
The then PM Liberal Chretien speaks:
Chretien: “Mr. Speaker, I rise on a point of order. On behalf of all the members of parliament I would like to welcome the new Leader of the Opposition. Perhaps in terms of security a seat belt should be put on his seat because it is called the ejection seat. I am delighted to be facing my eighth opposition leader.”
Harper speaks:
Harper: “I am his eighth Leader of the Opposition. However, I am in a privileged position in that besides myself and my party, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Minister of Industry and of course the Minister of Finance [*] are all wishing that I will be his last opposition leader.”

JABBERWOCKY
Lewis Carroll […]
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

Burping Moose Bad for the Environment
Amidst all the talk about carbon dioxide emissions and global warming comes news that Norway’s national mascot may be contributing to the destruction of the environment, through burping and other bodily functions.
The country’s so-called “King of the Forest” hasn’t been widely viewed as having any really nasty personal habits, surely none that could be considered an environmental threat.
But now some researchers linked to Norway’s technical university (NTNU) in Trondheim contend that moose are responsible for tons of gas emissions a year through their frequent burping and, well, farting.
“Shoot a moose and save yourself a climate quota,” joked moose researcher (and moose hunter) Reidar Andersen at NTNU to newspaper VG on Tuesday. He’s published a book on the life of a moose.
And he’s only half joking. The research web site http://www.forskning.no has calculated that the annual gas emissions from a moose are equal to those from an individual’s 36 flights between Oslo and Trondheim.
A grown moose will burp and pass so much methane gas in the course of a year that it amounts to 2,100 kilos of carbon dioxide emissions…
