Dion loyalists suspect Liberal organizers who support Mr. Ignatieff have been undermining the campaign, hoping that a loss would force Mr. Dion out of the leadership once Liberals realized that he couldn’t deliver seats in Quebec.
“I only know what I see, and I see some suspicious stuff,” said one Liberal worker on the ground.

Oh my.
Dion won’t make it to the end of the week ….
Cherniak is claiming someone is posing as this Brunsdon woman.
He links to an email where she has resigned.
I wonder if Jason is aware of the posting at fuddle duddle?
Oh my is right.
Spread that mayonnaise on the lawn
Hip hip hooray, its weasel stomping day.
“There’s one of two options,” said one source close to Mr. Dion. “There’s some folks there who are either grossly incompetent or intentionally malicious.”
Tough choice, but option number one is sure appealing, especially if this guy’s English is at all representative of his overall capabilities. Gotta love the presumptuous eagerness with which the Liberals are unsheathing their knives, though: a cynic might suspect that a lot of Liberals regard Dion’s leadership as a regrettable by product of unfinished business left over from the last Liberal convention and aren’t waiting for the formality of an actual vote before drawing their blades.
So assuming Mulcair wins and Dion goes down, who does that leave us with? Probably not Ignatieff, who’s done nothing in the past year to assuage anyone’s worries about his political acumen, which of course was the reason why he didn’t walk away with the convention last time. Frank McKenna probably won’t run. Brian Tobin has enough of an ego to be a possibility, but I wouldn’t count on him getting in. That leaves Bob Rae: the Liberals have had another year to get used to him and enough bad news to make him look less risky than the alternatives. The socialist angle’s no real problem either; the Liberals took one on before and would build shrines to him if they could get their hands in the trough again. Rae might do well in Toronto, but once they get past the 905 belt the Liberals might be in for a shock. Here’s to the future (ours, not theirs).
“There’s some folks there who are either grossly incompetent or intentionally malicious.”
Either way, it sounds like Cherniak, no?
Ba du dum.
More:
I have received a number of calls and emails this evening from people about an email that went out earlier tonight claiming to be from Denise Brunsdon. I can say that the email, the source and the entire notion that there is any sort of conspiracy in the byelection in Outremont are all fakes. The email is pasted below and is from a fake gmail account.

This is to announce that I will be resigning from my position as YLC Vice President Organization, and LPC employee, effective immediately.

PS the Liberals will lose the next election because their membership didn’t play team sports as children.
“…that was just evil”: ‘Something the Liberals would know about.
Party unity? What’s that with the Librano$? their version of “party unity” (sic) is “You’d better go along with what the top brass want or we’ll bust your knees, a certain Cabinet-Minister-style–or we’ll have Chretien give you a “hug.”
Reminds me of Monte Solberg, Art Hanger, Inky Mark et all,…
Watching this librano gong show is quite amusing. These folks just cannot deal with being LOSERS! And where is the librano “A” team? Waiting in the wings for bombardion to self destruct? One can only hope that it is zimbobrae who comes out as the new leader. It is amazing how pigs react when there is no swill in the trough.
LMAO,
I mean really laughing.
After highlighting this issue to no ends,
Cherniak RETRACTS,
and says the source of the Article wasn’t fake.
My god, this is getting rediculous.
Quick, let’s put these people back in charge of the country.
Oh man do I like public political hangings, especially when its the Crooked Liberal Party du Canada doing the swinging.
What an arrogant bunch of fools they’ve been for so long.

Stephen Maher to become “Cautionary Tale,” Sources Say
Writing about internal Liberal politics can be fatal. I’ve taken a keen interest in journalists this last year – what they do – what they don’t do. I’ve taken a little survey, and I’ve found that most reporters wouldn’t dare write the kind of crap Maher does about Stephane Dion. …-

Honour amongst thieves.
Poor pathetic ol’ Borat Dijon. The Librano death squads are out shredding his followers before the leadership convention has even been arranged.
Looks like it’s an internal fight to keep Borat from killing this parliament to keep him away from the polls and a severe beating….the byelection is the warning shot across the bow.
Seems the Iggy camp wants to keep a minority CPC until they can get Iggy installed as a Librano caliph after Borat’s forced resignation…then the Librano media will monopolize news space fawning over Iggy for a year and then to the polls….repeat of the Martinette Chretien purge.
This would be the perfect session for Harper to push his most controversial bills…the liberals will split wide open avoiding a non confidence trip to the polls led by Borat.
A comment in today’s G&M says all this gloom about losing a seat today in Que is just spin, so when Dion wins he can claim he is a hero, and a leader. As for Tobin being a possible new leader, he is having some trouble in NFLD re some mis-spent money. Could the libs afford another leadership race, they haven’t paid for the last one yet.
And yet they still command a very strong second place showing in the pools …. amazing…

GDW said: “So assuming Mulcair wins and Dion goes down, who does that leave us with? Probably not Ignatieff”
I think you’re right GDW….Iggy is the sacrificial scape goat taking all the heat for the wet work in destruction of the Borat leadership…meanwhile Rae sits quiet seemingly with no blood on his hands (Manning did this with Day)…the socialist label isn’t an impediment for Rae with Neo-Com Liberals already being statist-collectivsts and he is a connected Powercor-Desmarais puppet which will please the party corporate welfare patrons.
Rae is the dark horse “interim leader” for the impending Borat resignation.
I’ve heard rumours that Goodale is working on his French. I fully expect him to enter the race once Dion is finished.
You are assuming that Dion will step down. I suggest that whether there is a win or loss in these by-elections – he won’t resign.
He is extremely stubborn and has a lot of Chretien’s narcissism. As he has said, he was elected as The Leader. And that’s that. Problems are defined, by him, as due to the machinations of others.
The only way for the Liberals to get rid of him would be to lose a general federal election, and I suspect Dion will do a lot of huffing and puffing, and set things up so that there won’t be one – because he’ll rely on the Bloc and NDP to prevent an election.
My ungrounded opinion is that Dion is here until 2009 at the very least.
I think Dion will be persuaded to make an announcement about personal/family crisis and resign…there will be an interim” leader appointed and then they will press for nonconfidence and go to the polls with a well known appointed leader.
Dion may claim health and/or family problems to step down but the Liberals would be fools to go for a general election with an interm appointed leader. Canadians saw at the last Liberal convention how the backroom boys work when the “democratic” process is used. If the “Power Corp.” boys decide to circumvent the supposedly “democratic” process and go with an appointed leader the Liberals will go down in a bigger ball of fire than the Hindenberg did.
Tous Ensemble, indeed.
And, of course, all this means Harper hasn’t got a thing to worry about in terms of Parliament forcing an election.
Dion is crapping in his clothes with moles and saboteurs undercutting his already questionable leadership. Layton is as irrelevant as ever on the national scale. And the Bloc? Who cares?
Time for the government to get another Throne Speech through and drive forward some truly conservative policy.
I’m just giddy with laughter…How I remember the days of … Liberal M.P. Elinor Caplan branding Conservative voters with
“Holocaust deniers”…Liberals chanting …”They’re from the darkside”…
I love it! I love it! To have this merry band of Liberals finally being exposed to the tripe they inflicted on us is a joyous thing to behold. The truth hurts, doesn’t it?
Remeber ET, if Grits lose Outremont, it will be with Dion’s appointed candidate. BTW, I prefer to wait for the results tonight, rather than crow now. Also folks, remember when the media gleefully reported the internal “divisions” within the Conservatives, so take that with a grain of salt too. But, if worst case scenario happens where everybody but Libs and Greens get seat, how can Dion stay on, unless he forces a suicide election. My guess is the best he will do in that event is plead for time and redouble his efforts for Ont byelections. If he screws that up, he’s gone, likely for “personal” reasons .
ET: “My ungrounded opinion is that Dion is here until 2009 at the very least.”
I would tend to agree.
Andrew: “…the Liberals will lose the next election because their membership didn’t play team sports as children.”
If you are a Harper supporter, this is a bit like the coal mine calling the kettle black.
All this fighting among the Liberal$ is causing greenhouse gas emissions. The Harper government should immediately pass a carbon tax on political parties that emit so much GHG seeing the Liberal$ are so full of it.
One of my fondest desires is to see the LPC rubbed out entirely, Leaving nothing but the greasy stain on the carpet that befits their legacy to Canada!
I agree there is no way the LPC will get rid of Dion before the next federal election.
I’m not sure it’s a great idea to read too much into the byelection polls since these byelections are just as much about getting out the vote, then general satisfaction with any of the parties.
As important as winning the bielection is. It will also be important to see what kind of turnout the Liberals are able to get in Outremont. If they aren’t organized enough to win a bielection in their stronghold, how are they going to run a national campaign?
Dijon QUIT? Nevair.. mon dieu!! Ay aff a responsabilite to my paartie.
Est aussie: Vive la France!!!
