The federal Greens may be having some money troubles – this, according to a petition being circulated among supporters. The petition, obtained by 24 hours’ Public Eye, demands the party’s budget be balanced by June 2007, with all debts paid off by Dec. 31, 2007. The reason: The party is, evidently, “facing increasing accounts payable and cannot sustain its current level of spending” – a situation at odds with the Greens’ commitment to fiscal responsibility. Press secretary Camille Labchuk didn’t respond to a request for comment concerning the party’s finances. But it’s said the Greens have accumulated $420,000 in new debt since October.
Doing what?
Never mind that – Green Party leaders need jet fuel, too. But, where are the party faithful? You’d think those teeming hordes of greenhouse grassroots true believers would line up with wallets open in support of the one best political hope to preserve For The Grandchildren[tm] the quintessentially Canadian experience of frost in August.

cant they just recycle?
trash for cash.
This is very interesting. The Green party seems to be in a leadership crisis, plus a money crisis. I wonder if they will even last to see the next election? Fringe parties like the Communists have been around for decades, so somebody is not doing something, or doing something they should not be.
Shades of the Status of Women which could never get members to pay their membership fees and always relied on government handouts to make ends meet. Once at the trough it’s hard to stop slurpping. Did you also know that every woman that stayed at the YWCA was automatically registered as a SoW member – knowingly or not.
WHat’s the surprise here?
The majority of Green supporters are children or no better than children. At best students with minimum wage jobs. More typically just the usual bunch of useless do nothings with too much time on their hands I think!
Isn’t there room in the back of the Goracle’s Gulfstream or Suzuki’s Bus.. Perhaps the Green pary should be selling carbon credits!
let’s look at the greens track record
1. recycling – two sets of polluting vehicles to pick our trash vs one in the old days
2. nuclear power – if the leftard idiots would have let the industry build what they needed, our “carbon” footprint would be substantially lower
3. incineration – another doozy – we could be producing about 10% of our electricity, and we could have eliminated landfills and the idiotic recycling programs
this is the kind of policies libranos/moonbats/dippers have been pushing for decades
may/dion/layton are three idiots vis-a-vis the envrionment
So, will the liberals lend the greens money from their huge donations. Seems the supporters of these partys are supporters in name only. If the next election really is in Oct 2009, after our troops are home, I wonder if the greens will still be in the race.
I would like to know how they could be spending that kind of money. For the love of Mary, they don’t wipe their arses, and they eat out of their compost. I think there should be a public audit done. Perhaps Sheila Frasier will have some spare time on her hands after she brings down the liberals.
It would be immoral for us not to open our wallets. Come on everyone WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN!
For me, the more interesting story was just above the article cited here, on the “24 hours” page. Here Moonbat Betty appears to have developed a serious case of foot-in-keyboard disease. I thought these people were supposed to think globally before acting locally.
“Federal Green Party leader Elizabeth May has come down with a case of keyboard-in-mouth disease. Last month, May controversially compared Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s stance on climate chance to “a grievance worse than Neville Chamberlain’s appeasement of the Nazis.” Soon after, the prominent environmentalist issued a statement of regret. But her decision to elaborate on that statement seems to have stirred up further controversy.
At issue: Earlier this week, May informed supporters that, “the Canadian Jewish Congress told me Holocaust survivors had been disturbed [by the controversy]. No idea if this is true, but if they were it was by Harper and sensationalist headline writers.”
24 hours’ Public Eye has been unable to speak with May about that message, which was posted in a Green discussion group.
But, in a subsequent posting, May wrote that she regrets if she appeared to “question the credibility of the good people who gave me a chance to clarify at the Canadian Jewish Congress. I do not doubt them one bit … I truly regret the hasty and inaccurate message below” – chalking it up to “the perils of writing messages too fast while rushing.” ”
Or was she just too busy taking her cues from George Monbiot?
Perhaps May should have paid attention to the PROM held recently in Toronto, by a group of volunteer jewish students for HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS ONLY. Perhaps she should think of all the things these people missed in their lives, that she takes for granted. Again Congratulations to those students that did this.
Hey greens i recycle all the time why dont you do it or dose it sully your lilywhite little hands? And i unederstand that those dumb window stickers that you get from the eco-wackos cant be recycled and most people get so tired of the eco-freaks and their lying their sending back the postpaid envelopes with the mail in inside
Fiumara, do you have any proof of your statement about the YWCA and SofW?
Not challenging you – Just curious. Thanks.
