I’ve spending a couple of quiet days in a big log house in Maryland getting rested up for the “death march” of Montgomery County. We spent last weekend camping at the show site in Minchigan, so I’m almost completely out of the news loop, other than catching a bit of Fox last evening. (Though I did catch the news that the folks who built Olympic Stadium may have also been trying their hand in overpass construction.)

    Sarcasm is one of the most difficult things to convey in e-mails and blogs. With all due respect even Kate has been caught in that trap. The use of emoticons is 1 way around it but most consider it to be a bit cheesy. I fall into that group.
    What was really telling about Matt’s response was his arrogance, ignorance and child-like grasp of circumstances.

    Could you provide some factual evidence for this evaluative conclusion? Namely, what was ignorant about his statement; what was arrogant; and what was a childlike grasp of what circumstances?
    Your post hoc claim that your post used sarcasm is ungrounded in fact. You are the only one claiming that your error was not an error but was ‘really sarcasm’. What’s your proof other than your own insistence?
    I note that again, you’ve used the same fallacy of argumentum ad populam, in ‘most consider it a bit cheesy’. Provide proof of this claim and even if it is statistically valid, which I’m sure it isn’t, it remains a fallacious tactic to support your use of it.

    Why do so many Palestinians think their conflict is IDF against Hezbollah rather than Iran against the USA?

    The Hez peels off handfuls of money in the streets, with the news video camera grinding on, while soldiers and workers elsewhere riot because they have not been paid.

    One of Reid’s quotes the Liberal Party highlighted in the list of quotes referred to by Fortin of concern to the Liberal Party was the following: “Only God can make Canada a truly Christian country… Christians are called to be faithful where God places them. We are called to speak biblical truth to seek justice – and that obviously has implications for our political life.”
    Asked what was objectionable about the quote Fortin evaded the question. He said: “We just decided to highlight the quote made by Mr Reid and it’ll be up to Canadians to see if they think this person is fit to work in a minister’s office in one of the highest positions in our government all these quotes will be object-able (sic), or will be objected by some Canadians, and we just wanted to put them out there and let the Canadian people make their own decisions about it.”
    Former Liberal MP Pat O’Brien who quit the Party after the Leadership forced homosexual ‘marriage’ on Canadians without proper debate or a free vote was not surprised by the development.
    “As far as I’m concerned the Liberal Party lost all credibility long ago with regard to guarding morals, so it’s no surprise to me that they are taking umbrage at someone standing up for Christian values in society,” O’Brien told LifeSiteNews.com. “They continue to erode those values.     All Good Videos Must Come To An End
    I just arrived home to find a note in my email box from YouTube telling me that the Dan Matheson vs. Dan McTeague video that I had on my YouTube channel (via CTV Newsnet) was removed due to a third party complaint regarding it infringing on copyright. The third party was Holland and Hart LLC, a law firm out of the western US states.
    I have no clue why an American law firm would complain about a Canadian blogger/YouTube video post unless it is either a) a firm helping protect YouTube or b) a firm tied to some Canadian entity that must dislike my blog.
    In light of this, I am encouraging you all to go to my YouTube channel and view any of my video posts now because I will be removing many of them over the long weekend. i.e. consider now to Sunday your Last Chance Viewing!!
    When all is said and done, I will only have my Red Friday videos.
    If any lawyers out there would care to defend me leaving these videos up there (for free) please email me. Otherwise, enjoy them while they last.

  26. When I heard that the bridge collapse was in Quebec–not any other Canadian province BUT Quebec–I thought, “yeah, right. It would be Quebec.”
    I totally agree with ET about the highways and highway signings. Totally Mickey Mouse, totally inadequate. Quebec Gnosticism, as my husband and I call it: You have to know, to know.
    But, back to the bridge. Chances are someone knew someone, who knew someone, who knew someone who could supply the steel girders (or, whatever) needed to build this bridge. Someone else knew someone, who knew someone, who knew someone who would approve said steel–and we’ll all underspend so we can put this $$$ in our own bank accounts. DONE!
    Does this sound familiar. Librano$, anyone. Follow the money and see who got rich on this project. It’ll probably lead to other bridges. Someone had better check them out: pronto.
    And in case anyone wants to accuse me of being “anti-Quebec,” my husband grew up in Quebec, we were married in Quebec, and I spent a summer in Quebec at a Handicapped (then called a Crippled) Children’s Camp to improve my high school French.

We have the worst roads in Northern Ontario …I’ll blame Rae and Mcguinty….apparently the frost and heavy traffic are partly to blame, but if you need a b-line to your cottage from Tranna…no problem. If you are local and need to travel secondary highways and share them with transports from Tranna…too bad.

    In 1986 I went from Toronto to Vancouver Island, then back east along the Yellowhead hiway, through south Canada tothe Maratimes. Went to St Anthony (or St Agony as they call it) Nfld, and then back to TO. Cant remember anything but perfect roads under my beloved 920 Virago. The people were helpful all the way, and I went back to work that fall ready to floor anybody that made derogatory remarks about my Canada. Incidently Alan, if you also happen to be driving a motorcycle, I”m sure you know the ronrob rules of the road. There are only three.
    1. Never go to sleep without a full gas tank.
    2. Never eat at resaurants that advertise live bait.
    3. Never ask a woman to dance if her boyfriends nickname is Snake.

  32. ronrob I have been riding a 1985 1000 Virago for the last 12 years, great bike, the only major repair was a clutch. Planning on getting a BMW for the trip, anything over 400 mile in a day on the Virago is a major effort at my age. I do not expect people to be as helpful as they were back in 1984. Hell people in my once small town now look at me like I am nuts, when I say good morning to them on my morning dog walk. “Times they are a changing”.

    There was a bridge crossing the St Lawrence near Quebec City… this is from memory circa 1948. The St. Lawrence is awfully wide there..
    Anyway, a bridge near Quebec city fell down and took some souls with it.
    Turned out that Duplessis, [then Quebec premiere, I think], salted away some of the materials budget.

    Someone I know who is well qualified to make the recommendation once told me that I should write about things I know.
    This I “know” and I am not happy with a culture that is pacifist and encourages our teachers and their students to submit to the idea that there is nothing they can do to protect themselves from “crazys” and armed terrorists. There is much that can be done.
    I am not going to go into details because the information is priviledged and should be protected but I can say this.
    After the Beslan Massacre police in many countries changed their tactics. No longer would we stand around and wait for the SWAT Team to arrive. Time became a priority in responding and as we saw in Montreal it paid off. One student died and that was one to many but a lot more could have bit the dust had we not adjusted.
    In the latest incident the response backfired as police immediately stormed the school and several children died as a result.
    All of this could have been prevented had the teacher been armed and “blew him away” as he came through the door. …-

  45. So Ontario is upset and worried that the re-introduction of the hated NEP, now called the National Emission Policy would cripple the auto industry. Where were their concerns when Trudeau crippled Alberta. What goes round comes around. Guess any talk out of ontario re climate control, kyoto, etc means NIMBY. And why are they supporting iggy when he wants to put a carbon tax on Alberta. And why did the libranos exempt the auto industry from kyoto, but not the oil companies. At least Rona is talking to auto big wigs, more than trudeau did. And, how do these kyoto supporters plan to make emmission control to equal CA, if the automakers don’t change. Do they just expect to put a limit on how many miles you can drive/day to achieve their targets.

Liberals that voted against the extension only did so because they were mad at lack of debate. He claims the majority of the caucus supports the extension. What is scarry is that liberals vote for or against something depending on whether they are mad. To hell with the troops, the country, the mission, or anything else, if they are mad they will vote against it. Guess their supply of happy pills ran out.
    Iggy said most liberals support the war, and will vote for him. He better explain that in a lot clearer language, especially in Quebec. Guess iggy is just a bush lapdog in disquise.

Just google the term of Quebec Unions and see what has been written about the problems in Quebec with the hold over the economy by the unions. It’s not a paranoid fiction but a data-based fact.
