Good one Kate.

The screen shot’s a spoof but the articicle isn’t… That’s way too close to what’s been predicted with the passing of SSM legislation…
Kate,
you cheeky little monkey.
As for the story (which I’m assuming is not a spoof) I guess once the notwithstanding clause has been abolished, our debating/protesting, calling our MP’s will be pointless, given the SCC’s absolute and supreme authority over the makeup of our sociatal underpinnings.
Ahhhh yes “Canadian values”…values that alledgedly include a leisurely Sunday afternoon soak in the hot tub with all your neighbors and their pets after a block wedding party…yes the liberal post atomic family is fully gender/species and neighbourhood inclusive….the single party state wants you out there getting hitched up with everything that runs, stands or jumps….Canada: a national family commune. 😉
Thank gawd this Canada stops at the western border of Rosedale.
I wonder if PMPM will cite this bit of research as justification for recinding the NWC. Timing is in fact everthing. LMAO!!!

As Homer said in a recent episode. ” I’ll marry anything to anything!!!” DOOHH!!

I’m sorry Kate but I refuse to believe this isn’t true.
And if it’s not true it’s only because the poll showed it’s not a winner.

Jack Layton Thursday.
PORT HARDY, B.C. (CP) – NDP Leader Jack Layton, who’s campaigning as the defender of public health care, had surgery at a private clinic in the 1990s, The Canadian Press has learned.
Layton had hernia surgery at the Shouldice Hospital, a private facility in the Toronto suburb of Thornhill, while he was serving as a Toronto city councillor.
…them that live in “Glass Houses” shouldn’t throw stones…
Hi Kate
This just out about smiling Jack at Canada Press.
New Democrat Leader Jack Layton had hernia surgery at private clinic
PORT HARDY, B.C. (CP) – NDP Leader Jack Layton, who’s campaigning as the defender of public health care, had surgery at a private clinic in the 1990s, The Canadian Press has learned. Layton had hernia surgery at the Shouldice Hospital, a private facility in the Toronto suburb of Thornhill, while he was serving as a Toronto city councillor. The NDP leader said he wasn’t aware the clinic was private when he went for his surgery in the mid-1990s.
Old news I know. I just find the hypocrisy revealing, especially after Peter Warren cornered him on the air if he or his wife would ever use a private practitioner. Which he emphatically said he would not even if he and his wife where in great pain.
I guess he was entitled to his entitlements.
As I point out in my post on this topic, people need to think outside the 1-to-many box… it can also mean many-to-many, and things get very complicated there with respect to division of property, support and so on.
Quadmire down at the quadmire.
Kate, you’re a funny one – though I suppose you’re trying to teach us something. 😉
I confronted a young, haughty, and not very intelligent blogger (who thought that her ability to recite the opinions of her professors made her smarter than most) about her attacks on a certain well-known blogger. She repeatedly offered me screen shots, saying they couldn’t be manipulated. I repeatedly declined, suggesting I was better able to trust archived copies to something she could have manipulated.
For some reason, she never provided the evidence she claimed existed in abundance. I’m still hopeful, however. It must have been dramatic to have given her such a warped view of the world. Anything that knocks someone over logic’s ledge would certainly be worth a look.
re layton’s rear end remake….someone should ask him and olivia when they were on toronto city councel getting between them around 150K why they were in subsidised public housing till someone brought that little gaff up. answer we did’nt know. or something to that effect.
I nearly crapped my pants when I saw this.
I thought this cannot be true (but it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if the Lieberals ever did try this)
Then, i realized it was a well made prank.
Though, if these Lieberal bastards ever get back in, I would not be surprised at all if they try to pull this one off. Seriously folks, somebody’s rights are being infringed upon, if polygamous people cannot have the same rights, freedoms and entitlements as regular “married” folk.
Brace yourself.(Also a term a Lieberal uses for foreplay)
The mad redneck
That’s a funny way of looking at it.
Coincidentally, for myself, tonight’s post at the Sentinel assumes a much more serious and foreboding tone.
The Liberals are running those “scary” ads with the really bad pictures of Mr. Harper and trying to make Canadians believe stuff that isn’t true.
Well, like I’ve said in the past, I would hit back on the Liberals myself in my own way.
Here y’all go:
http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com/2006/01/liberals-push-us-down-slippery-slope.html
Regarding Jack!, that’s why they call it champagne socialism. I just heard Mansbridge say that Jack! didn’t know it was a private clinic. What crappola!!
I remember when Jack! and Olivia were forced to get out of subsidized housing.
These two are always getting caught saying one thing and doing another.
Kate. Did you see this article first? Is this post really a spoof? Hmm.
Study recommends repealing polygamy ban in Canada

Hmm, three law professors at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont.
Hee hee! A report is out saying that polygamy should be decriminalized.
Will “defender of Canadian values ™” Paul Martini stand up and defend this minority against the evil majority? My guess is that if it can be pulled out of his ass, the answer is yes.
Sorry for the double sentence in the first part of the quote.
correct me if i’m wrong but is’nt there a polygamy lawsuit before the SCC now ?

Samizdata has an post describing an incident similar to the oriental game of scissors-paper-stone.
The clampdown on disrespect continues. Sir Iqbal Sacranie is under police investigation. The putative crime, a public order offence, disorderly conduct: behaviour likely to cause alarm, harrassment or distress contrary to the Public Order Act 1986. So, has Sir Iqbal been staggering aggressively around a shopping centre waving his fist at passers-by? Has he been picketing a building yelling threats at workers? Has he been hanging around on a street corner with his legal director and PR man, holding open bottles of cheap cider and throwing traffic cones at one another?
No. Sir Iqbal is a genial, if quite intense, man. He’s been doing the sort of thing he got knighted for.
The alleged offense took place in the course of a serious discussion of his religious beliefs on Radio 4. He reportedly said that homosexual behaviour is not acceptable on moral or health grounds, and that civil partnerships therefore were not acceptable either. Some people were offended by this “homophobia” and complained to the police.
I don’t care for what Sir Iqbal thinks about gays. But he does think it. I do care that he should be allowed to say what he thinks. And it does worry me that offending people by your mere opinion expressed publicly in a public forum can now be a police matter. … This adumbrates a world in which officially approved opinions may be expressed freely, but those that are not officially approved will be deemed offensive, and suppressed therefore. Whatever it is, it is not freedom of expression.
To appreciate the context it’s important to understand that Sir Iqbal Sacranie is Chairman of the Muslim Council of Britain; a man who once said “Death is perhaps too easy” a fate for the author of The Satanic Verses, Salman Rushdie, and who boycotted the commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz. Sir Iqbal was pretty near the top of the class of uncriticizables. That he should be the subject of a police investigation simply for asserting the undesirability of homosexuality shows that in the pantheon of political correctness some gods must bow down to others. It is similar to the scissors-paper-stone game in that one object trumps another, but unlike the oriental game the inequalities are not circular: Muslim beats Jew, Gay beats Muslim but Jew does not beat Gay. In modern, liberal Europe, the relationship between politically correct objects is strictly transitive: Gay > Muslim > Jew > any class of “nonvictim” human beings. The mystery is: how did it get this way? >>>

Martin doing a town hall on CBC News.
First question from audience: “You said in the debate that drive-by smears should come to an end, and yet the next day you unleashed a series of negative ads.”
Martin: “In fact [Matt’s note: gawd!], they’re not negative …
Questioner says Martin should stop being negative and advance his own ideas.
Martin ignores and goes negative, starts regurgitating the ad content.
Sheesh! What a maroon!
Cheryl Gallant likes to use her powers to snoop on the people in her riding.
What is she doing with all that information people put on their passports?
She’s ducking reporters who ask the tough questions.
CBC Town Hall: Martin is hopped up on caffeine. I’ve never heard him speak so fast. He’s trying to cut in when Mansbridge is talking.
He’s nuts! Nuts I say!
My question is .. why would any woman want more than one husband to look after?
also ..
See Paul Martin snapped out at
http://dukemcgoo.blogspot.com
for a laugh eh?
Mmmmmm, one Texas Canuck – two or more wives. Thirty years ago I would have had a hell of a grin on my face but now I have enough on my hands with one wife (and I say that in a nice way) let alone a couple more.
Seriously though, everyone laughed when people said that SSM would lead to polygamy and other stuff but it looks like normal Canadians are the ones laughing (or crying) now.
CBC Town Hall:
2nd question: Federalist concerned about the rise of the Bloc in Quebec. “What concrete action is Martin prepared to take to prevent the separation of Quebec, knowing that his party is responsible for the recent rise in separatist sentiment.
Martin sez “fundamentally.” Starts going on about China and India… Ich bin ein Quebeker!
Mansbridge pushes him on the part that the Libs are responsible on the current rise of separatism.
Martin says Gomery exonerated his government! (really?)
Next questioner asks about Western separation. Asked if the provinces should get more autonomy [seems like a plant with a lobbed question]
Martin going on about a strong central government, which includes … a national childcare program, the Liberal childcare program!
Martin now talking about asymetrical federalism … hey! He’s Judy Rebick!
Back to China and India – calls it a Pacific Gateway.
Martin says people said the Feds would never have a special deal with cities. Oh yeah? Name ’em.
CBC Town Hall:
Environment question.
Martin: You can’t have a strong economy if you have an economic deficit … fundamentally … snooze.
Mansbridge reminds PMPM that the questioner wanted a specific answer. Martin of course rambles on.
“Most climate problems are international. Canada has taken the lead, especially in Kyoto.”
Seriously! He said this. I want what he’s smoking.
CBC Town Hall.
Martin asked about his doctor running private clinic.
Says his doctor’s office is like any other; it’s run like small business – he does not go to a private clinic.
Pathetic skating around the truth.
Asked if he would stop the proliferation of private clinics.
Says he’ll do whatever the Canada Health Act says. Starts quoting Roy Romanow.
Mansbridge comes back to the fact that Martini’s doctor runs a private clinic.
Martin: “I don’t ask my doctor what he does in his private time.”
Martin thinks the CPC ad is unfair.
“I do believe that when you do an ad, it oughta be true”
WOW!
CBC Town Hall
Question about help for people who have a parent stay at home. Mansbridge rounds out the question.
Martin: “the fact is …”
“The government provides funds for this kind of thing. Are they the same as the childcare program? Well it differs from province to province.”
Says a single income family gets a better break than 2-income families.
Mansbridge talks about income averaging … says other parties don’t have it either [I heard the CPC may announce it].
Martin says he looked at it and continues to look at it. [Nothing says speed like “Liberal”]
Not a priority.
I wouldn’t put it past them and I predicted it yesterday with my Liberal ad parody:
Paul Martin says Muslim values are Canadian values.
(Message from Prime Minister Paul Martin on Eid ul-Adha
January 11, 2006)
Some Muslims value polygamy.
Paul Martin says he stands for Canadian values.
Do Canadians support polygamy as a value?
We dont know.
He didnt tell us we did.
What else is Paul Martin hiding?
On CBC with Mansbridge:
Martin – “Yes I go to a private health clinic but I pay with my health card.”
This just gets funnier and funnier – it’s the best comedic routine I’ve ever seen.
If the GTA vote these b&^%t%$#’s back in we will be the laughing stock of the world.
CBC Toen Hall
Sponsorship scandal: how will it be prevented in the future?
Martin: Extensive changes … fundamental problem … CFO in each department … they will report to Comptroller General in Treasury … more auditors … we’ve fixed the system … expenses will be reported once a quarter, posted on the web.
Question about penalties to politicians. Would like to see some kind of penalties.
Martin: regurgitates what’s going on in the courts.
Mansbridge interviews his boss on the CBC townhall. What a joke.
I hope Peter isn’t under any delusion that he is a real journalist.
CBC Town Hall
Martin says Gomery said “fundamentally.”
I find that hard to believe.
Again says Gomery exonerated him and his government.
CBC Town Hall
Crime question by lady from Mississauga.
Martin talks about reverse-onus. Mandatory minimum sentences [death-bed conversion, doncha think?].
No word about banning hand guns.
Martin is being interviewed by Mansbridge of the CBC now, and he has commented on Gomery’s upcoming second reporting, saying, “I look forward to Gomery’s recommendations and I fully plan to implement them.”
Didn’t Martin say that we could not judge the Liberal gov’t until Gomery II was released, as if the second report would be a document which we needed to wait for before passing judgment on his party?
I’m glad to see that he’s finally “admitting” that his government being defeated in a non-confidence motion in November by the opposition was in fact justifiable … even though he’s doing so unwittingly.
What? legalising polygamy, great idea! it allows a man (I am a male BTW) to have a different piece of ass every day of the week! Providing you have seven wives or more. And the majority of cities have an overpoulation of single women, What Luck! Women are just baby factories anyway so if men have more wives we can avoid the “yucky” baby periods! YaY! Vote Lieberal!
….this is satire in case you didn’t get my point!
Paul Martin just told Peter Mansbridge in the CBC Town Hall thing that he gave Gomery an “unlimited mandate”. We know that’s a lie. And Mansbridge let him get away with it. What about the Earnscliffe affair? How come Gomery only looked into the Chretienites rather than the Martinis?
And why is Raymond Garneau still in his position as appointed by Gomery? Conflict of interest, after all. He helped PMPM buy CSL. No one’s raised it but the Canada Free Press and myself.
Looks like the CBC and Mansbridge as well as the folks asking the questions are helping him look and sound good rather than asking him the hard questions we would ask him. Careful selection of the audience, no doubt… it’s, after all, the CBC…
Surprised? Me neither. Those people at the Town Hall thing look like brainwashed zombies, not regular, average Canadians.
CBC Town Hall
Question about hand gun policy [well done son!]. Talks about the 2 billion dollar long gun registry. How are you going to assure the voters that this attempt will work.
Martin: No more renewal fee on the long gun registry [that oughtta save a billion or two!]
Admits there’s been a hand gun registry for years. Says guns are being stolen from homes – “a break-in away!” Quotes dopey Toronto mayor David Miller. Says “hand guns kill.”
Questioner asks about the provincial governemt having the final say on whether to go with the ban or not. Says Martin’s plan really is ineffective.
Martin: “fundamentally.” Expect Ontario to opt in.
Questioner: You said guns are killing people, isn’t it really the person behind the gun.
Martin: setting aside $50 million for hopelessness, exclusion … blah blah blah. Then says “lack of exclusion” is the problem [which is it?]
Thank goodness and many other powers that great bloggers are getting this word out to Canadians.
The more we see the Liberals in action, the more the Paul Martin claim about Canada not being the same if Stephen Harper were trusted with the Prime Ministership, it looks real.
Under Martin he refuses to allow property rights in Canada. Communist China protects property rights in China. Paul Martin won’t?
Under Paul Martin’s Canada, lying, cheating and stealing seem to be the prefered values?
Nice.
Canada needs a serious change and Paul Martin doesn’t know what change is.
Tired.
Polygamy? Saw it coming long ago. Once the anointed of the supreme court bless that union, beastialty can’t be far behind. After all aren’t we an inclusive society with shared values?
On a serious note, watch if the SCC doesn’t revisit the child porn thing. Now that the supremes have dictated that there shouldn’t be things like community morals/values and if some perv does some high tech wizardry to make some child kiddy porn (electronic), why shouldn’t it be ‘legal’? Who is being harmed?
Yup leave it to the Supreme Court. They will find a way to arrive at a stupid decision. Now think of Martin’s world where there is no withstanding clause.
Ed the Hun
Dan Matheson interviewing US reporter Patrick Bashran (?) the guy who wrote about Harper being good news for US, says thanks to the attack ads, US is watching the election far more closely. A Tory will will make it easier to get things done because the ads are very anti-US. Matheson tried to say anti-US rhetoric died after the first wave, but Bashran (?) said no way. SOme of the ads are definitely anti-American and it is being noticed. It’ll probably run again on CTV NewsNet
CBC Town Hall
Questioner skeptical that Martin’s team will be different from Crouton’s. [does a nice Anglo pronunciation of “Chretien”].
Martin: ” I happen to believe fundmentally.” “We will never go into debt.”
Manbridge: How is that any different than Crouton?
Martin: “fundamentally, fundamentally … [I guess he really means it]. Says he’s going to have an independent foreign policy. Mansbridge asks him “more than Crouton’s?” Martin backs off. Says Canada has to take the lead on Kyoto [aren’t we in last place?]
CBC Town Hall
Question about NWC. Asked the way we here would ask it.
Martin: Wants the Supremes to reign supreme. Doesn’t think the majority should be able to take away rights of minority. Says – get this – the government was elected by a minority(!) [Which one? Chinese-Canadians?].
Mentions Stockwell Day as cabinet member.
Using a woman’s right to choose as an example. Doesn’t trust parliament – trusts the Supremes. Talking about the Supremes bringing down a judgement favourable to his point of view – what about if they go the opposite way, say, polygamy. What then, genius?
Quite what a woman’s right to choose has to do with minority rights is beyond me.
But he’s the one smoking crack, not me.
Fundamentally speaking, this is the most over used word in the PM vocabulary! The more Paulie talks the more he uses the word! If we’re playing the drink game, I believe that fundamentally we’re averag’n three drinks a question… perferrable something clear…like vodka! Oh Man!
Too damn easy for Paulie!
It was designed that way!
There you have it: your tax dollars hard at work helping to re-elect the dithering dictatorial don.
They just allowed Paulie to demonize the Conservatives and defend his dangerous idea of fecking with the Charter’s Notwithstanding Clause.
The CBC has demonstrated its bias.
The audience… just look at the brain-dead moonies. They’re believing Paulie’s every word.
Surreal and sickening. Is this really a free and democratic society? A state broadcaster politically telling Canadians what’s what according to the “Liberal” dictator himself rather than the truth…
He just said he all along said he’d never use the NWC. Another LIE! Getting away with that one, too!
Enough! It’s making me sick!
CBC Town Hall
Question: Mansbridge asks “why now … in the dying days of the campaign?”
Martin: all along I’ve said I’d never use it. Says Trudeau said he accepted it because he thought it’d never be used.
Mansbridge asks if he wants to throw it away because the Tories are coming in.
Martin starts losing his head. Mansbridge straightens Martin out – “Harper doesn’t say that.”
Martin back to a minority electing a majority in Parliament. Mansbridge points out that that has worked quite well for the Libs. Martin going on about not being able to trust future governments.
This is freaking bizarre. This guy is not capable of driving a car, let alone running the country.
CBC Town Hall:
Question about caregivers.
Martin says his response is toward those who are giving care [I kid you not!]
CBC Town Hall
Long preamble to a question by a middle-east dude. Thanks Martin and his family for their service [Gack!]. Thinks Martin is too much like the CPC.
Martin: great difference between him and Harper. Childcare … Kyoto .. environmental policy … caregiver policy.
Woo hoo. Mansbridge interrupts, says they’re out of time. Says “It’s my fault, I accept responsibilty on this one.”
Excellent dig!
