  1. 50 MRI machines…..same response as when I blogged this last spring.
I cannot fathom us giving this much money to a nation that has a space program, a nuclear program and a massive army that is one of the biggest in the world.
While we flounder in helicoptors that fall from the sky, submarines that leak as bad as the Liberal warroom and have MRI wait times that go out over 8 months in some cases.
And the Liberals wonder where all the money is going to come from for the Tory or NDP budgets.
This is a classic example of throwing away cash.
I have a feeling it is bribery money for trade missions. Bribery is very common in China and this may have been grease money for these missions. This is just speculation on my part, but I know to adopt a Chinese baby, they tell you exactly how much cash you need to bribe each official along the way.
I just hope it isn’t paying for a hotel full of Geisha’s for ‘diplomatic’ visits.

  2. how about 50 million for our National Olympic Pistol Team for the summer olympics and our National Biathalon team in teh winter version.
Oh wait, can’t do that because Paulie has banned guns & lightsabres

  3. Good idea on the fifty MRI scanners. My son was told the wait time here is over one year for an MRI. (B.C. Interior)

  4. Just watching CTV LIVE with Mike Duffy and LIVE footage of former Mulroney finance minister Michael Wilson on stage, introducing Stephen Harper.
I hope this is not the beginning of the Conservatives making the same mistakes they did in the last campaign.
Why on earth would they want Michael Wilson of all people – someone who the Liberals can point out ran deficits – endorse Harper?
    Odd. Very odd.
The Liberals should soon come out and point out that the former finance minister is endorsing Stephen Harper. This is especially bad considering that the Liberals have been trying to change focus over the past 24 hours, saying that Harper’s plan would put Canada back into deficit.
    I don’t get it.

  5. How about our own space program. Why are we giving them money when they’re able to put men in space?

  6. We could put the money into building some new ships for “Big Paulie’s Cruise Line”. Oh wait!! That’s what it’s for now … Never mind.

  7. Scot,
Mike Wilson is the person who did more to wrangle defecits/debts to the ground than anyone else – including PMPM.
When he became FM, Canada’s economy had been whacked up side the head by years Trudeau screwing our economy.
You can’t go from 30 years of defecits to years of surplusses overnight.
Martin became FM at the right time.
And Wilson was 100% honest . . can’t say that of Dithers.

  8. Scot,
Mr. Wilson was former MP for the Etobicoke riding, and as such, still holds some good will from the people. Like it or not, for Mr. Harper to reach for the M word, he needs visual support from the old Tory wing of the party.

  9. I’m not talking about what the turth is, I’m talking about what will be adopted as reality, by the Liberals, their shills in the media and the uneducated masses.
    Perception is reality.

  10. OT:
    Hello.
My name is Alan Robberstad I am a Canadian. One voter out of millions of Canadian voters.
Paul Martin is no friend of mine. Liberal governments have not made my life any better. Liberal governments have made the future worse for my children.
Jean Chretien became Prime Minister many years ago. Guess who was the Liberal Finance Minister…..Paul Martin… LEST WE FORGET
    Since 1993:
    (1) My taxes have increased.
    (2) My family’s share of the national debt has increased.
    (3) My personal expenses have increased.
    (4) My waiting time to see a doctor has increased.
    (5) My concerns for my family’s safety have increased.
    (6) My costs to educate my children have increased.
    (7) Government interference in my life has increased.
    (8) My personal debt has increased.
    (9) My income has stayed more or less the same.
    (10) My savings have decreased.
    (11) The buying power of my dollar, in Canada, has decreased.
    (12) The value of my dollar, in the U.S., has decreased.
    (13) My trust of elected officials has decreased.
    (14) My trust in the justice system has decreased.
(15 )My trust in the immigration system has decreased.
    (16) My hope that a Liberal won’t waste my tax dollars has decreased.
(17 ) My dreams for a better future for my kids, in Canada, have disappeared.
That is my story since the Liberals came to power.
I am not voting for Paul Martin’s Liberals. I am voting against Paul Martin and his Liberal Party in January. I am voting for Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party.
Do I like the Conservatives? Not particularly……I don’t really like Politics. I am not political by nature. I am not passionate
about politics. I am a middle age guy (48). I live in a small house on a fairly quiet street in Edmonton. I have a wife, Kathy, and two children (ages 19 and 17). I have no pets. I am a middle class man. I don’t usually say too much.
    Until now.
Now I am going to say something!
In 35 of the past 37 years, Canada has been ruled by:
    (1) Pierre Trudeau – a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.
    (2) Brian Mulroney – a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.
    (3) Jean Chretien – a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.
    (4) And now we are going to vote for Paul Martin???? – a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec???
The leader of the Conservative party, Stephen Harper, is:
    (1) Not a lawyer.
    (2) Not a multi-millionaire.
    (3) Not from Quebec.
Stephen Harper says that the Conservative party will:
    (1) Reduce my taxes.
    (2) Pay off the national debt as fast as they can.
    (3) Shrink the size and influence of the federal government.
Do I believe Stephen Harper? I don’t believe any politician. However, let’s give Harper the benefit of the doubt and allow him to prove or disprove his platform. I am going to give the Conservative party a chance with my vote. But wait! Paul Martin is now saying the same thing. My mother told me forty years ago: “Fool me once – shame on you. Fool me twice –
    shame on me!”
The Liberals have had 34 years to be financially responsible. Remember, Jean Chretien was Trudeau’s Finance Minister. Remember also, Paul Martin was Jean Chretien’s Finance Minister These people have been raising my taxes for thirty-four years. They have been mis-spending my tax dollars for 34 years. 34 years!
And now Paul Martin says he will stop taxing and spending. No way.
Thank you for reading my story so far!
Why am I telling my story to you?
Although I feel alone, I know that I am not alone. Your story may be similar to mine. And you may also feel alone. One small voter in the midst of millions of voters.
What can you and I do together to change things?
Here is my idea: Lets you and I join up together. Just you and I. Together. As a small team of two. How can you and I fight a huge political machine?
You and I have two things that we can use:
    (1) Our individual personal connections.
    (2) The Internet.
The Internet is supposed to be this globalizing tool, right? Let’s put it to use. I have 27 Canadians in my personal e-mail address book. I am sending this e-mail to each of them including those who reside in Ontario.
Now you can send it to your list

Is Canada actively conspiring against the United States and the pursuit of American justice?
Fugitive Korean businessman Tongsun Park had been traveling from Canada to Panama when he was removed from a plane on a flight that stopped in Mexico City.
How was the Interpol-listed Park able to board a Canadian flight without intervention? How long had the FBI-hunted Tongsun Park been in Canada? By which means did he arrive in Canada? What business brought him here?
Interpol worldwide had circulated a warrant for Parks arrest, including the 260 nations recognized by the UN, of which Canada is certainly one.
Park, who slipped through Canadian authorities, was arrested in Houston on Friday. He was arrested only because the Mexican Government saw the Interpol warrant and sent him back to the United States.
Park, a key figure in the UN Oil-for-Food investigation, is charged with acting as an unregistered foreign agent in the United States for Saddam Husseins regime in Iraq.
The Government of Mexico recognized the elusive Park as a fugitive on the Interpol Wanted List, but the Government of Canada did not?
Difficult to believe that Canada was still in the dark when it is public knowledge that the Canadian businessman Park gave $1 million of Saddam Husseins money to is none other than Maurice Strong, longtime mentor of and advisor to Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin.
From which Canadian city did Tongsun Park board a plane to Panama?
How long had Park been in Canada before leaving for Panama?
Did the Canadian Liberal government provide diplomatic immunity for Park while he was in Canada?
It boggles the imagination that the Canadian Government wouldnt know who Park is. Part of the charge against Park stems from his having given a $1 million cheque to Prime Minister Paul Martin advisor Maurice Strong, who invested it in a failing company in 1997– while serving as UN Secretary General Kofi Annans adviser on UN reform.
Documents indicate that Martin was a 4.5% owner in the same company for which Strong accepted Saddams one million dollars.
Park was arrested at Houston airport on Friday and has been denied bail as a “flight risk”.
According to his lawyer, Randy Schaffer, Park never intended to travel to the United States.
“This guy is picked up in Mexico against his will and brought here,” Schaffer told reporters at his clients bail hearing.
Canada has an embarrassing record in keeping would-be terrorists from crossing into the U.S. Algerian expatriate Ahmed Resssan, who planned to blow up the Los Angeles airport on 1999s Millennium eve, made it past the Canadian border only to be stopped by American border authorities.
Canada may now have another record in allowing fugitives from the law access to other countries.
Was this yet another Canadian government foul-up, or is there more to the story of the easy exit of the media-dubbed “Koreagate man” from Canada?

  12. Did anybody notice that most of the fifty million went to sustain beaurocracies, studies and other non-productive areas. When money flows out of Liberal hands, very little ends up in the palm of the poorest man.

  13. I say we don’t spend the 50 million at all. This reminds me about whenever you hear the term “How shall we spend the surplus?” Whenever I hear this I think “How shall we NOT spend the surplus?” How ’bout we give it back to John and Mary Sixpack?

  14. “The Truth Hurts” blog projects the Tories with 154 seats after election day. Is that actually possible or probable in this election? Or, is it just smoke?

  15. Fred/Allan Roberstad-This might help to explain some things on your “lest we forget” list:
… new report from the Conference of Canada:
Canada Continues to Lose Ground on Global Rankings
To measure our country’s performance and potential, the Conference Board has conducted its 10th annual ranking of Canada in comparison with 23 other OECD countries. The overall message of this year’s report is that Canada’s performance is slippingwe are losing ground or stalling in areas crucial for our international competitiveness. We cannot afford to be slipping now, given the challenges we will face in the coming years: our aging and shrinking population, disease pandemics and other security threats, and competition from the exploding Asian markets.

  16. Is that $50 mil going to China or Maurice Strong?
In any case it would be better to spend the money for severance for CBC employes after it is shut down…then bring in Fox to take its place. Just think we could save $1 billon per year!

  17. I suggest that we spend it to investigate and prosecute the Liberal cabal that has stolen from the public purse for the last 13 years. This would include civil actions seeking restitution.

  18. Speaking of Moe Strong. Wow. Here is Harper on Kyoto.
When will the MSM expose Kyoto as Maurice Strong’s cover for the new world socialist order? Tongsun Park, Oil-For-Food hoax/bribery/UN/Saddam & etc.
    Harper rejects Kyoto, native deal
OTTAWA (CP) – Conservative Leader Stephen Harper is saying “No” to Kyoto, “Maybe” to missile defence, and “Sort of” to aboriginals. >>

    Our Goal:
To encourage and assist the Canadian Federal Government to re-evaluate the Kyoto Protocol by engaging in a national public debate on the scientific merit of Kyoto and the Global Warming issue, and to educate the public through dissemination of relevant, balanced and objective technical information on this subject.
The Kyoto Protocol is a political solution to a non-existent problem without scientific justification.

If, back in the mid-nineties, we knew what we know today about climate, Kyoto would not exist because we would have concluded it was not necessary.

Message Provide by Nancy Greene-Raine that was not used by the Government of Canada
“Scientific discoveries in the years since the Kyoto Protocol was signed have rendered it out of date. It is time to reevaluate Canada’s position on climate change. The Kyoto Protocol is not in our best interest, and will not prevent climate change. The billions being wasted trying to stop this natural phenomenon should be diverted to solving real environmental problems that we can control.”
