Stable is in. Jesus is out.

One wonders just who thought this counted as a compromise:

Saying it would be “inappropriate” to include them, Memphis, Tenn., library officials have banned Mary, Joseph, Jesus and the wise men from a promotional nativity scene – leaving only the stable animals and a shepherd boy.

I wonder if the shepherd boy figure would be posed shrugging his shoulders, while the sheep are positioned as if looking around in other mangers to see if the Son of God is next door taking visitors.

You can read about the whole silly business at Angry in the Great White North.

  1. Christmas Party Planning

    RE: Christmas Party
I’m happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take
place on December 23rd, starting at noon in the private function room at the
Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We’ll have a
small band playing traditional carols…please feel free to sing along. And
don’t be surprised if the CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas
tree will be lit at 1.00p.m.. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done
at that time; however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of
gifts easy for everyone’s pockets. This gathering is only for
    employees!
The CEO will make a special announcement at the Party.
Merry Christmas to you and your Family.
    Pauline

In no way was yesterday’s memo intended to exclude our Jewish
employees. We recognise that Chanukah is an important holiday, which often coincides
with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on
we’re calling it our ‘Holiday Party’.. The same policy applies to any other
employees who are not Christians. There will be no Christmas tree or
Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your
    enjoyment. Happy now?
Happy Holidays to you and your family,
    Pauline.

Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous
    requesting a non-drinking table…you didn’t sign your name. I’m happy
to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads,
“AA Only”, you wouldn’t be anonymous anymore!!!! How am I supposed to
handle this? Somebody? Forget about the gift exchange, no gift exchange
allowed now since the Union Officials feel that $10.00 is too much money and
Management believe $10.00 is a little cheap. NO GIFT EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED.
    Pauline.

    RE: Holiday Party
What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins
the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during
daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how
a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim
employees’ beliefs, perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal
until the end of the party – or else package everything up for you to take
home in a little foil doggy bag. Will that work?
Meanwhile, I’ve arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest
from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the
toilets, Gays are allowed to sit with each other, Lesbians do not have
to sit with gay men, each will have their own table. Yes, there will be
flower arrangements for the gay men’s table too. To the person asking
permission to cross dress – no cross dressing allowed. We will have booster
seats for short people. Low fat food will be available for those on a
    diet.
We cannot control the salt used in the food: we suggest those people
with high blood pressure taste the food first.. There will be fresh fruits
as dessert for Diabetics; the restaurant cannot supply “No Sugar”
    desserts.
    Sorry! Did I miss anything?!?!?!?!?!

Vegetarian pricks. I’ve had it with you people!!! We’re going to keep
this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit
quietly at the table furthest from the “grill of death”, as you so quaintly put
it, you’ll get your f****** salad bar, including organic tomatoes, but you
know tomatoes have feelings too, they scream when you slice them. I’ve heard
them scream. I’m hearing them scream right NOW!! I hope you all have a
rotten holiday, drink, drive and die.

I’m sure I speak for all of us in wishing Pauline Lewis a speedy
recovery, and I’ll continue to forward your cards to her. In the meantime, the
Management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and instead, give
everyone the afternoon of the 23rd December off with full pay.

  2. Why, this should make every Liberal and NDP goose-stepper in Canada proud. We all know that American Christians are the ENEMY.
What’s that Ahmed? did you say “dhimmi?” You want to put some special Islamic jewelry on my neck? Gee, it looks kind of like a knife. What did you say Ahmed? Aloha snackbar?

  3. About 1300 years ago it was a favorite pastime of a
secular Rome. Too put a group of Christians in the center of a large stadium with a group of hunger lions. hhhmmm.

  4. Angry you keep on cross posting. We need you everywhere. All the time. All Angry All the time.
    Ha!

  5. Angry is babysitting for Kate and he gets lots of traffic from here. I really don’t see anything wrong with that.

  6. One cannot help but wonder what their objection is to the wise men. Must not offend the stupid now, can we?
On the other hand, didn’t the wise men bring gifts? And isn’t that where the tradition of gift-giving at Christmas came from? Better do away with gift-giving too.

  7. This reeks of something else found in stables. I’m glad I live in Alberta, where being politically incorrect is considered a virtue.

  8. My dad used to say (as did I to my kids) that you have to know where you come from before you know who you are.
They are trying to stop us from knowing where we come from.
    This is the Leninist dream.

  9. Separation of church and state. It would be nice if some Americans actually read their own constitution.

  10. A new magazine out in the Maritimes called Redneck Living is flying off the shelves. Sounds to me like being PC is going the way of the dinosaurs. Funny how a few miserable people can make life so unpleasant for so many – if we let them. All these folks have to do is keep replacing J,M & J until the bureaucrats get the message.

  11. This hurt and insult has been coming at us for years and years now. But somehow it pains me more when it comes from the U.S. (and especially from a red state like Tennessee) because I always have this faint hope that the leader of the free world will still stand for the traditions that made us a great civilization. I don’t accept that Martinite Canada suppresses these expressions of our traditional faith, but I’ve become more used to it. But if Christiantiy can’t be expressed at this time of the year in the leading nation of Western civilization, I think we are well and truly coming to the end of our capability as a civilization.

  12. Lew:
“Separation of church and state. It would be nice if some Americans actually read their own constitution.”
“Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of any religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”
99% of Moonbats (including clueless canucks) believe it is God’s truth that it says somewhere in the constitution the words “SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE”
So ponder the words above for a moment, read some history and then come to a conclusion.

  13. I might ponder your words Doug if they made any sense, but alas they do not. I think I now know why the present Conservative party is deemed ‘scary’ and will not govern Canada for the near future. I was going to join the party this Saturday to help dethrone the Liberals, but after reading a few of these religious-right ‘Moonbat’ blogs, I think my efforts will be better spent educating people about the dangers of abandoning rational thought in favour of inflicting your personal views upon others.

  14. Um, Lew? As much as you might disagree with Doug, I’m trying to see where you actually answered his question. I’m not sure how it’s totally off the wall to ask someone who’s just accused Americans of not reading our constitution to do the same themself.
How do Doug’s words not make sense? The phrase “separation of church and state” does not appear in the US Constitution. What does are the relevant provisions of the First Amendment that Doug quoted, the Non-Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause. Keep in mind that many individual states in the US still had official established churches well into the 1820’s.
Of course, I assume you already know that the First Amendment, like the rest of the Bill of Rights, was controlling only on the federal government and not the states until the adoption of the 14th Amendment after the Civil War, and is even still only selectively incorporated against them. I assume that you know this because, while Canadian, you nonetheless appear in your previous comments to have set yourself up as something of an authority on American constitutional law, and therefore I would hardly want to suggest you were ignorant of something so basic.

  15. My point was, Angry, that if you’re going to take over a blog for a while, you might want to provide some new content for it. And, for instance, when in your 11:55 am post of December 6, in which you refer to yourself in the third person (ie. “Angry In The Great White North has a post about”), who do you think you’re fooling?

  16. Further to Lew and the separation of church and state, the concept is all about government keeping its nose out of the affairs of churches, and not the other way around, as so many lefties like to think.
As for the “religious right,” I’m an atheist myself.

  17. Not speaking for a Tenn. library, rather just for someone that has to deal with ‘the crazies’. I would just like to get through the day without makeing too many people mad at me. This time of year I try to make people happy by showing a little holiday spirte with a gentle reminder as to why we are celebrating. If someone is going to yell at me that I have offended them, I try not to offend them. I don’t have the time, effort nor temperment to put up with the lawsuits that ‘the crazies’ seem to throw at the drop of a hat. I would rather spend time with my family, AND not get fired from my job. It would be nice if ‘the crazies’ weren’t given the credibility that they receive and it would be fun (for a while) if the tables were turned. That crazys be held accountable for the words they spew. That lawsuits fly when the crazys ‘offend’. It is nice that a lot of people understand this, compensate for it and aren’t offended by it. To them, Merry Christmas. To others; maybe Santa Clause will bring you a Bible and a copy of the US Constitution for Christmas – instead of a lump of coal.

  18. Lew. This is why Americans have a concept of seperation of church and state. In England there was an official church (the church of England) and other faiths were then persecuted. Thats why the Pilgrims came to the US. They wanted to freely express their own religion. Its not a concept of stopping religion in public life just preventing one specific religion being imposed. Thc constitution, money, public buildings have the word God on them. The founding fathers opened Congress with a prayer first. To think seperation of church and state means to instill a 100% secular government is clearly wrong.

  19. Those of us who are of northern European ancestry are surely the only people in the history of the world to voluntarily remove from public life references to our own history and culture in order to not offend others.
One can travel around the world and see various holidays and festivals being celebrated openly. Where can people of European descent go to see our own historic festivals being openly celebrated? Are there any enclaves? Might make for a fun trip.

  20. Doug, American Christians aren’t the enemy. Canadian Christians are the problem. According the Liberals, Christian fundamentalists are “taking over BC riding associations.” Just who gave these people the vote anyway? All they want to do is take away all SSM, force gays into the military, ship them off to Iraq, so they can come home in body bags. Of course, they won’t have a handgun, all their kids will be in government daycare and they will be the reason for Quebec separation. Get it now?

  21. “I was going to join the party this Saturday”
Loooooooooooo,ou,ou,ou! (in a Ted Knight voice)
    No you were’nt Lew.
You would rather slag those who believe in a goodness that has nothing to do with a weak form of socialism thought up by some french Canadian millionaire in the drug adled 60’s.
You would rather brag about your enlightenment to place yourself in a superior position and thereby remove all doubt of your thorough lack of knowledge of anything you purport to understand. You would rather worship at the alter of socialist criminal overlords in payment for your pitiful place at the trough.
That would make you like most idelogical idiots who decide to vote in Liberano$$$ in Canada.
    So be it, F@ck off.
    Socialism is for SUCKERS!

  22. On christmas day, the three wise men rode their camels across the desert to the stables, where they dismounted outside, and headed for the stable door, arms loaded with gifts. The tallest wise man smashed his head against the low door-frame! He dropped his presents, reeled back, clapped his hand to his forehead, and shouted: “Jesus Christ!” Mary jumped up from her place in the manger, and exclaimed: “That’s a great name- I was going to call him ‘Fred’!”

  23. Those atheist jackasse are everywhere these days before you know it they will ban SANTA himself becuase he is based on a real person name ST NICOLOUS

  24. It never ceases to amaze me how supposedly intelligent adults reject modern scientific knowledge yet blindly accept 2000 year old myths and superstitions. Ignorant ravings written by primitive, superstitious people are accepted in lieu of modern scientific facts like evolution. It’s very scary to me that the majority of Americans are so unintelligent. And it’s not enough that they want to wallow in their fantasies, they want to force their fantasies on everyone else. They want school prayer (forced religious indoctrination of our children in violation of the separation of church and state). They want laws passed that are based on their 2000 year old myths. They want scientific truths removed from the education process and replaced with non-scientific mumbo jumbo. It’s very scary. Very scary indeed.
