  4. I don’t know to what extent – the pc’s don’t even want to wait for the RCMP investigation.
    The commission alone has implicated also the Bloc, and many cronies that would have taken the same money from the PC’s had they been in power. This doesn’t even touch the organized crime involvement alleged in the testimony.
    The only reason I can think of for the haste is that there was something damaging about conservative involvement (had there been any CPC MP’s worth corrupting in Quebec) that might emerge.
    Voters are reacting to the premature lust for power move with which Harper was arrogant enough to think he could succeed. Canadians hate arrogance more than corruption apparently. Especially when it entails supporting and being supported by seperatists.
    Mulroney did some dastardly things besides airbus. GST comes to mind. I am not defending those that took kickbacks – but it would be a shame to break up the country over a few corrupt quebecois cronies. (Their type are not the rule anymore – the Chretien/Mulroney years are over!)

    I didn’t directly accuse Mulroney of corruption, I don’t need to, there’s several detailed books published about it available already. Directly accusing people of corruption without waiting for the evidence is your thing..
    Just don’t go painting the whole liberal party with your corruption brush. I don’t think the liberals invented it you know.
    And what’s with circumventing an ongoing investigation, and trying to call an election? Is there something you don’t want us to find out about until it’s too late?
    BTW, I’m an NDP supporter, and praise Ed Broadbent’s generous pairing move. How did you feel about that one?

  11. Ed Broadbent is retiring from politics to look after his sick wife.
    Instead of abstaining from the vote tomorrow, he should do a truly patriotic act and vote to bring the Liberals down. He has a chance to make history, and show himself to be a true man of pinciple.

    If the Liberals pulled a dirty trick like you did, and merged two parties, 53% of the country alone would be against you. Never mind the seperatists.
    It’s just a good thing that the liberals weren’t as desperate as the conservatives or reform at the time.
    At least it’s obvious to us which part of the left spectrum we’re on. while your parties can’t even get a national policy straight..
    I think there’s a possibility Liberals will tank their own vote just to rub it in! I’m not afraid of your election threat.. you don’t have the numbers!

  14. Mockpuppet…You’re right, the Libranos didn’t invent corruption, they just perfected it. Unfortunately they’ve also perfetcted the art of manipulating stupid people to vote for them no matter how low they sink. Let’s pretend the Libranos are not corrupt to the core (serious mental gymnastics required for that one, I know), they are still completely and totally incompetent when it comes to governing (except for the buying elections part). Seriously, they’ve been in power for over a decade and can you name even three things they’ve done that they haven’t completely f’d up? Let me guess, you’re just jumping to say “balancing the budget” but let me also ask this: Could they have done that without the GST which you demonize the PCs (who are NOT the CPC) for implementing, while seeming to forget that the Libs promised to eliminate it – 12 years ago? The Libs don’t even blush when their only defence is: “we’re not corrupt, we’re just incompetent”. Thses clowns should be the laughing stock of the contry but sadly some people are perfectly happy letting them continue to buy their way into office.

  15. Please cite your source and evidence on perfection of corruption. I don’t think you have anything of worth. But since you’re obviously such an expert, I’ll give you a pass.
    I don’t advocate voting liberal, and never have. In my opinion they’re just as bad as the conservatives for corruptability and cronyism
    Now factor in that the CPC is mostly reform party members, has no support in Quebec AT ALL! and that Harper was Manning’s right hand man.
    The reform hasn’t had a chance to be federally corrupt yet – they’re only hoping for their chance to stick their hands in the cookie jar.

  18. Mockpuppet…you ask for evidence of corruption? Are you serious? You have only to turn on the news and you’ll get more that you’d ever want. The real problem is it’s only the tip of the iceberg that even the Auditor General is allowed to look at. The Libs don’t even really deny it! Cretien said something like “well, if anything was stolen, it was for the good of the country”. Right, sponsorship has done a great job quelling separatism (will any Quebec seats NOT go to the separatists next election?). In setting up their “trust fund” the Libs are on the verge of saying “OK, we took it. But here, we’ll give it back”. Then the lapdogs in the media will praise them for being so noble.
    Speaking of “ignoring the messagee”, my post was mostly about the Liberals’ brutal track record being sufficient grounds for dismissal even without the corruption. You, like so many like you, bring up Mulroney (who was the leader of a different party – much different by your own description) as a counterpoint. Another poster aptly pointed out that small “c” conservative voters (and everybody else for that matter) tossed his govt out for his corruption. In fact it totally destroyed the party and forced it to re-form into a new party that by your own admission “hasn’t had a chance to be federally corrupt yet” (by the way, thanks for making my point that the CPC is a non-corrupted alternative to the Libs). The big question is: will small “l” liberals step up and admit that this corrupt govt has to go too? Let me say that I’m not holding my breath.

  19. Reform party, correct.. not conservative. Get a grip, the country is over 70% left leaning.
    Oil rich provinces notwithstanding (ironic how that crept into everyday language again..) you have no mandate to govern the country.
    If we weren’t left holding the bag, when the c’s decided to quit quebec we wouldn’t have to fight so hard and stomach corruption to save the country. Let the inquiry go on, and the RCMP investigation (which you obviously are scared of) The real culprits will be brought to justice, and their conservative party ties will also be exposed.
    It’s got to be a real scary alternative for canadians to vote for the liberals, but I’d rather wait for the results of the probe. Wipe out the liberal support in Ontario too, and give it back to the NDP where it should have been.
    The current landscape:
    The liberals are the new conservative party
    The NDP are the new liberal party
    The conservatives are the old reform party.

  21. I still get a kick out of the save the country bullshit that the left spews (except for the fact that the brain dead believe it). The Liberals are the REASON Quebech wants to leave. The Liberals are also the REASON the west is grumbling about separtaion as well.
    Only the blind cannot see that waiting until December (or never which is more likely) for the results of the Gomery inquiry is a transparent Martin ploy for more time to bribe the electorate and obstruct the very same inquiry.
    Of course I have no mandate to govern the country. I am affiliated with no political party and am certainly not running for any leadership in the near future. However you seem quite free to decree that “c”onservatives have no right to be in the government (do we have to sit at the back of the bus in your world too?). In fact, it is the Liberals who do not have the mandate to govern since they have lost the confidence of parliment. And the NDP, let’s be serious. But it clearly emboldens people like you to spout off knowing that your party will never have to concern itself with the responsibility of governing.

  22. Yes please save them all. We all need a party motivated by troll postings on a third rate conservative blog website.
    That reminds me of all my conservative colleagues who moved to Alberta to be with “their own kind” and get away from the “pakis” and the “chinks” as they called them here in Ontariario.
    “Ontario ain’t what it used to be” they would complain. “We didn’t have one o’ dem blacks in our neighbourhood when I grew up, now look at all the trouble they cause”
    Alberta is a haven for straight edged white people like them. It’s known for it’s hospitality (so long as you’re white or rich) but also for it’s booming non-renewable soon to be obsolete resource industry.

    The liberals are the cause of the Bloc having so many seats. Can you only remember as far back as one election? Do you remember whem the Bloc first came to prominence? Could you possibly be on drugs?
