Roesgen got snippy with a crazy interviewee while trying to cover the tea partiers, and the crowd turned on her. “I think you get the general tenor of this,” she said. “It’s anti-government, anti-CNN since this is highly promoted by the right-wing conservative network Fox.”
Back in 2005, though, according to a Fox News source, Roesgen really wanted to work for that right-wing conservative network. She sent a tape of her on-air work to Fox’s then-programming chief Kevin Magee in January 2005, and followed up with another reel to Magee’s successor Bill Shine in September 2005. Needless to say, she didn’t get the gig.
The Green With Envy News Network
Upon receiving an email tip from a reader, I checked out Tom Clark’s new show Power Play out of curiosity at how Liberal Party Of Televsion cast members were reacting to McChevygate …. and stayed with the news coverage that followed just long enough to witness Rosemary Thompson take another gratuitous swipe at Fox News.
Thanks, Rosemary, for reminding me of the level of professionalism we’ve come to expect of you, and why I haven’t tuned to CTV Newsnet since Mike Duffy retired.

Rusty Shackleford emails – “Our moral superiors in the media. I mean, they went to journalism school and all I did was spend years earning a Ph.D. They are so much better than we lowly bloggers. I work my ass off to get terrorist websites taken down. My work gives them an idea for a story, and they can’t even mention who this mysterious blogger is? WTF? Oh, but it gets better as some of the basic facts of the story are wrong!”

Amd the CBC’s producers knew this. In fact, Howard SBOO and YT had had this conversation when he originally called me up. And yet during the programme they persisted in going over it again and again – how Alcoa had hired someone to make sure there were no elves living on their site.
So I wrote an email back to [the Current’s Kristin Nelson] and said I’d be happy to be on their show. I also gave her kudos for inviting me despite my public criticism of their earlier programme. And I expressed my surprise that their host had repeatedly gone over the same old chestnut about the Alcoa thing when their producer was fully aware of the fact that it was false.
And guess what? – I never heard from her again.

“Law-enforcement investigators often make errors in judgment and reach mistaken conclusions. Yet they understood immediately the implications of the propane bombs. Why, then, did countless experienced journalists fail readers, viewers, and listeners on that vital element of the story? Not even Cullen can truly explain this failure. Yet he’s quite clear on how the process worked: due to incomplete and otherwise careless reporting, most journalists formed their frame of reference for the story early, then screened out contradictory evidence.”

“As of the beginning of last week, The [Washington] Post had a backlog of hundreds of correction requests, a few dating to 2004. In many cases, readers never heard whether The Post had rejected their request, or why. For them, it was like sending a correction request into a black hole.”
