      If I want to know what going on in the Ukraine, I will tune into Patrick Lancaster. On the Ground on the Front lines and someone that speaks Native English and passable Russian. His many interviews of Ukrainian Citizens completely DESTROY your daily verbal diarrhea.

      1. I had enough of that crapola while I still flew to and from my house in B. C. The check-in security agents were getting far too nosy, including looking through my wallet at one time. Those people had absolutely no shame, convinced of the “rightness” of what they were doing.

    1. As someone who has extreme allergies I had tried the N-95 at least 20 years ago. Guess what, they didn’t help and the reduction in oxygen was a problem for me. I thought I might get some relief as most medicines eventually lose efficacy. It was my own idea, no one suggested it to me. It was an uncomfortable waste of time. A good A/C system is much better.

  10. Things are nice and calm here in south-central Iowa. The temperature is a balmy 8 C, and the weather forecast is that it’s going to start raining soon and keep on raining until 9:00 pm, while the temperature might go up a degree or two. It’s a good day to do a bit of work for a client (I’m a free-lance software developer) while the sound system plays Madama Butterfly, The Marriage of Figaro, and the one piece by Georg Telemann for which I own a recording (it’s his 274th birthday). I hope that all of you have a day as good as I expect mine to be.

    2. Funny thing about Telemann, Handel & Bach: they all were born and raised not very far from each other. I believe they were all acquainted, and I remember reading that Handel and Telemann were good friends. Much as I love Bach and admire his genius, I find H & T more ‘musical’ or pleasing to the ear, largely speaking.

      1. As for Bach, music was a family business. It wasn’t just his sons, but also his other relatives who could crank out the tunes. I have a CD of some of the music by his rellies, and I think that recording was just one of a series on that subject.

    1. My personal accounting shows it as being one hell of a lot higher. I have been tracking expenditures for decades and we are well over a 20% increase. I track all spending in day to day life. The government will lie even when it obvious they are lying.

      1. They’re not lying, they’re just calculating the inflation rate differently than you are. Yours is a more accurate measure of the effects on you and me, but everyone’s expenditures are different so everyone’s personal inflation rate is going to be different.

  15. There’s a column by Ivison in the NP that makes mention near the end of course, about liberal MP’s and senior bureaucrats being left out on the covert support to Ukraine. It revolves around the announcement to supply Ukraine with heavy artillery (count, kind and condition TBD).

    The thing that came to mind after reading it was when Paul Martin started discussing whether Canada would get involved in missile defence and how it alienated the progressives in the liberal ranks, seem to recall some liberal MP’s switching to the NDP after losing their seat in 2006.
    So would it be plausible that the reason leisure suit Larry needed to get that agreement with the NDP was because he thinks he needs to do military procurement now?
    Not that he or anyone in the liberal caucus has a clue about military matters, but is this the next crisis he created for himself?

  18. The Bong announced Canada is sending heavy artillery to Ukraine. He wouldn’t/couldn’t say where he was going to get the heavy artillery or if he had secured a russian heavy lift Antonov to effect delivery to Ukraine…. stay tuned

    1. I imagine we still have M109s. The artillery regiment in Germany had them. That regiment no longer exists and AFAIK no one is using them anymore. We also have a decent sized stock of 155 ammo available for the same reason.

      1. Or steal them from the reserves. I think they stole the reserves Cougar armoured fighting vehicles close to 30 years ago for Croatia and have yet to replace them.
