I have heard all sorts of caterwauling about the matter but yet have to divine what my or Canada’s strategic interests are in picking a side. Yes, it is all tragic but there is enough tragedy to go around these days on a world scale basis.

      In the local sense of which set of Slavs own the Donbas, then it isn’t very interesting. But one side also has clear and stated interests in acquiring other territories, a demonstrated pattern of forcibly doing so, and just happens to be the major geopolitical foe that Canada joined an alliance to protect against. Work to defeat them now at relatively low cost and risk, or wait to see if they do challenge that alliance and have to risk everything to respond.

    2. When I was in high school one of my friends played a lot of Zeppelin and when I asked him the hardest song to play he said Black Dog. I was surprised that was the one he found the hardest.

        2. Steve – Anne and Nancy Wilson and a great multitude, sang Stairway to Heaven for the three remaining Zeps a few years ago at the Kennedy Center. That was pretty amazing. I think the Wilson sisters were pretty big Zeppelin fans. Your concert seems to confirm that fact.

    Well, I have something that may pique your interest. A guy in England has built a tunnel from his garden shed to his house. He spent three years and obviously a huge amount of money doing it. As an Engineer, I can really appreciate the work involved and he has done a really good job. What is also interesting is that his house is a typical British 3-bed semi, albeit with a larger than usual back yard (below which he has built a bunker!!)     They blame hormone treatment in Canadian beef but later refer to the protection of the dairy cartel as another sticking point. I seem to remember that there were strict protocols governing the use of hormones in beef meant for human consumption – can someone with better knowledge update me. Otherwise it seems a sacrifice beef (west) to save dairy (Quebec) story. (Pierre Lampron, president of Dairy Farmers of Canada, said that when Ng tabled Canada’s negotiating objectives last month she made it clear that there would be no more import access to Canada’s supply managed dairy market.)
