        I bought groceries at the nearby Safeway this afternoon. I decided that Kenney has his timetable concerning mandates and I have mine, so I decided to show solidarity with the truckers and went in without a mask.

        Not one peep. If someone had challenged me, I would have told them what I just wrote.

        2. Very very few masks in evidence here in Cheyenne (Free America) but 45 miles south in Colorado a lot of cities have mask mandates in place and the citizens are in meek compliance. It is tragic to observe.

  6. I’m finding it difficult finding any sympathy for downtown Ottawa service sector businesses during the truckers rally. Given that they enjoy existence at the heart of the taxpayer funded beast, a little hardship might give them a taste of life away from the trough.

    1. Same here. Normally, I am very careful with “they deserved it/asked for it” arguments. However, when it comes to downtown Ottawa my argument changes to “only whores work in a brothel”.

    2. Having lived and worked in downtown Ottawa, there’s nothing much in the way of small business of any kind within four blocks of Parliament Hill. Elgin Street is practically deserted during the day (during normal times it’s a traffic nightmare.) The principal people being adversely effected are some downtown lobbyist offices, some minor embassies, and some hugely expensive public sector union offices in World Exchange Plaza. That and some foreign owned chain retail outlets in the Rideau Centre.

      The biggest inconvenience for Ottawa is that the major bus routes go through the zone. This is a problem because Jimbo Watson has made such a complete fuckup of the Ottawa LRT. It’s why Jimbo is not running for mayor again in the next election.

    The Freedom Convoy has “realistic” demands. (Realistic being an appropriate adjective to qualify the Demands).
    The illiterate “journalist” adds a qualifying adverbial add-on to said adjective, namely “not tremendously” realistic…
    If I were an English Professor of olden days, I would deride such torturous misuse of proper insight, and usage.
    In short, the demands are realistic, the illiterate fools like Tristan the journalist, are beyond disdain.
    Jordan Peterson urges precision in use of language. So did Strunk and Whyte.
    So, given that sage advice, here is my concise sentence…
    “Heed the realistic advice, and end the game.”
