Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I’d LOVE to cut the cord, but then how do you get to watch LIVE sports? I’ve tried it, and all I get are clips (in foreign languages???)
Tried to subscribe to NHL.com, or other such major league sports services, and they ask for your cable or satellite provider. You can’t subscribe if you’re not on the wire, apparently.
If someone were to show me how I can watch hockey or baseball or football live without cable or satellite, consider that cord cut.
I cut the cord before the netflix era when bit torrent was the only alternative – out of principle for being gouged $100 a month to watch 3 channels and pay for 50 parasitic Cancon channels I hate. Never looked back and now with fast streaming on line there is no need for cable,at all. The bandit cable nets are just gambling there are enough seniors who are not tech savy to stay put – as Bell does with competition from voip.
Phase 2 od crony corporatism – charge for I-net bandwidth per usage as cable TV customers leave for cable data service.
You cant trust the news media for telling the accurate news all they mostly do is lie and fabricate the news I mean the daily news is like the horns of a steer a point here a point there and a lot of bull in between
13+ yrs sans cable, after they botched my installation at my new house twice (Comcast – I didn’t give them a third opportunity, especially after I had burned up 8 hours of vacation time – motherf*ckerz!!!). It can be done people. I have the Interwebs via Verizon phone line (for SDA of course – duh). And I have Netflix.
Simple. Go to a sports bar, watch it on the big screen in the company of other fans. You don’t have to drink booze. They serve sodas, too.
As soon as we switch to a different ISP, goodbye cable TV.
No more CBC, no more fwench crap and no more indian channel….go suck up someone else’s money ya leeches.
Nilesmaxim, if you live in Southern Ontario you can make yourself a $6 antenna and receive up to 30 free Hi-Def digital TV stations. I’m sure some will have live sports broadcasts. We get Buffalo, Toronto, Hamilton, essentially any digital signal within a 150 km radius. The plans are free off the Internet. Piece of copper, a connector and a piece of plywood. Or if you’re rich you can buy one for $19.95.
Nice of you to take my situation seriously, folks, now if there’s anyone out there with actual advice, I’d be happy to listen.
As for the comments already submitted, no I don’t live in SO, and I can’t erect an antennae. As for attending sports bars, what if I don’t like what’s on the big screen? Good luck on changing the channel.
Any other bright ideas?
Allow me to elaborate my last comment:
I’ve tried installing an indoor power digital antennae (try installing an outdoor antennae in an apartment building), yes, I’m “rich enough” to spend quite a lot more than $19.95, and I have.
On a good day, if I’m lucky, I’ll get 4 maybe 5 local stations, and not one of them, I can assure you, is TSN or Sportsnet.
Any other bright ideas?
Yup!
This explains why communistcast has been hounding me relentlessly for switching over my cable/internet.
Have you tried the Power Booster that can be attached to your indoor digital antennae?
It will cost an additional 20-50 dollars, but it picked up an additional 12-14 stations..
