  1. When Civil Libertarians were screaming about the Bush era Homeland Security Act which would allow a FISA court to authorize spying on Muslim Terrorists … I told them to pipe Down! I said … “I will grant my government that power (in violation of the 4th Amendment) … until such time as they abuse the power to spy on innocent Americans without any legitimate justification.”

    And boy was I WRONG! Believe it or not, I trusted our government. I grew up believing our government most always made the right decisions, or if not, came to their senses quickly. I don’t believe that anymore. Our government is filled with Marxist apparatchiks who want to DESTROY the half of America that doesn’t kowtow to their ORDERS.

    I will never, ever, again sit by passively while “good intentioned” (yeah, right) politicians and bureaucrats usurp our Constitutional Rights.

  4. How well I remember Stephen Harper’s famous “snitch line” which was purportedly only for people to snitch on suspected terrorists. At the time I spoke against it and was excoriated by various conservatives, but as now the most extreme terrorists are considered to be “Right Wing Extremists”, I rest my case. Call 1-800- Rat-Fink and report anyone you suspect is in possession of an illegal firearm. Discretion assured.

    Never trust a government with more power, bust your ass to curb the power they DO have now. Governments love this type of authority, if this passes and Trudeau does lose the next election, don’t hold your breath waiting for the new government to do much to alter this Bill.

  8. I worked 30+ years in the public sector. In my considered opinion, if a power can be abused by executive government, it certainly will be. If there is a time lag for the abuse, it’s only because it takes a while to write policies and SOPs.

    1. SOP’s are only adhered to when things go pear-shaped and blame needs to be apportioned.

    “They will never do that” ignores the reality that the mandate of the CRTC is to regulate, they are not an advisory agency of the crown.
    It’s what they do, it’s not a flaw it’s a feature.
    OToole, late to the game, has pledged to get rid of this if he gets the opportunity to form government.
    I won’t hold my breath for two reasons waiting for that pledge to be honoured.

    I’m already looking at ways to skirt this law.

    Once it really kicks in the need to promote your point of view by logic and quality argument is gone.
    Once you know for sure that You and Only you are the final arbitrator of truth,you might be a Liberal.
    Once rotted to this point,all other points of view are wrong,those who refuse to embrace you “truth” are not just wrong,they are evil.
    “Everybody knows” is a herd logic,usually inspection will reveal the opposite.
    Nobody knows,but everyone “Good persons agrees so”..
    This need it impose censorship upon the peons,is a definite sign of the weakness and sickness of our progressive comrades.
    After conquering all the institutions of civilization,they are still losing the argument.
