#BREAKING The Alberta Court of Appeal just ruled in a 4-1 decision the federal carbon tax is not constitutional. The court found the legislation that brought in the tax erodes provincial jurisdiction. Previous court decisions in Ontario and SK sided with the feds #cdnpoli #abpoli
Update: The first bill of the [Alberta] spring session will be the Critical Infrastructure Defense Act, creating new “stiff penalties for anyone who riots on or seeks to impair critical economic infrastructure.
That such a law isn’t already in place federally is governmental malpractice.

Alberta. Some say Alberta is like the rest of Canada. People who say that are fools.
Demand a full refund. And if Ottawa doesn’t pay, take it out of Equalization payments.
#WEXIT
There are no “equalization payments” to take it out of.
Jusat stop equalization payments. stop stuff crossing the priovince. Only allow AMS goods through. Take over the airforce base in Alberta and stop the planes.
The proverbial is about to hit the fan…..
Why does the harbour look like tea?
I have to say, I agree with the Alberta decision; I have never understood the basis of the Ontario and Sakatchewan decisions.
Constitutionally, the Federal government can levy pretty much any tax it wants as long as it is uniformly applied to all of Canada.
A Federal tax that applies to some provinces but not to others is so utterly wrong on all counts.
Shrug. Did anyone really think it would go the other way? The Alberta judges know full well that their decision will be appealed or made null/void by a related SCC case.
Still, in lieu of real action, it’s something, I guess…..
This will be overturned by the totally corrupt SCOC in 3, 2, …
When are you, sheeple, goint to realize that when a country is being ruled entirely by a 50/50 mix of lawyers and real estate agents that your MPs are, you are being ruled by the most deplorables and despicables, of whom you make jokes for the last few centuries?
Q: What do you call a lawyer with an IQ of 100?
A: Your Honor.
Q: What do you call a lawyer with an IQ of 50
A: Senator.
You made this and similar jokes, but you keep electing them and whining about your choices.
When are you going to elect a Joe Plumber? If you did, you would at least have a leg to stand on, when you whined about bad government.
Yes, the Supreme Court ruling is a given. Any other result will mean the end of the world is nigh.
Judges are simply failed lawyers. Getting appointed to the bench is based on how well you fundraise for the Lieberal Party.
Harper went to put a conservative in but asked the other “judges” their permission. The response resulted in another Lieberal party member being appointed.
Yes I was aprticularly PO\’d by that – oh, let’s ask the KLiberals who they want. Trump sticks it to them; a much better approach.
I call for a end to canadian Niceness because it obnly helps the Familly Compact.
Still waiting for that “aid package” Ottawa promised.
Don’t want it. I’ll starve before I bow before Turdo.
Yeah, Zoolander steals Alberta’s whole loaf, burns down the bakery, then pretends to throw us some crumbs from our own loaf.
Note the “pretends” part.
The Supreme Court action in striking down this decision, will be another prop for Western Separation.
Think Kenny even knows how to use the Not Withstanding Clause?
The clowns in the East cheering for Gang Green and jeering at all who question their religion are our best allies ever.
Timing wise, when Kenny fails to tell the Supreme Court of Liberalism to stick it ,that will when his time is up.
Alberta will be able to say”We tried, now bye bye”.
For the “nonpolitical citizens” having a federalist in command of Alberta failing to save any value from confederation,is a necessary step.
We need to be seen to have observed the forms.
Trudeau and crew will give the rest of Alberta lots of cause to leave.
“Just watch him”.
John, I could be wrong, but I think the not withstanding clause only applies to the human rights aspects of the Charter.
Good point.
uhuh.
and after 30 years of squabbling, elections, appeals, more laws bla bla bla . . . . . then what?
Kenney has to be driven from office he is useless.
Yes. Alberta residents need to write their MLAs and tell them to vote no confidence in Kenney’s leadership this spring review or they won’t be getting a vote next election.
Kenney use is show people that we are not being unreasonable.
Sure. Lets show these unreasonable people in Canazuela who reelected a Criminal that we’re reasonable. That’ll show’em.
The part of the ruling that I particularly liked is……”The federal government is not the parent; and the provincial governments are not its children.” That’s a pretty powerful statement and I wouldn’t be too sure that the Supreme Court will reverse the ruling.
That such a law isn’t already in place federally is governmental malpractice.
No it’s a feature.
