Well, no. The drop was caused by the much cheaper purchase of Chinese solar panels instead of indigenous German ones, hence the drop from $6 million/MW to $700K. The Europeans were simply providing stimulus to manufacturing in China, which is why all the subsidies were cut, not because they were getting too much renewables in the system.
This entire green thing is staring to resemble a fad diet. You buy all the empty of calorie plan an lose five pounds or so … you start to feel good, then another five and you feel smug … then you tire of starving for what you really need … so you have just one donut … then you start to remember cozy and comfy it was before all this denial of standard of living happened … so you toss your solar panels and mercifully stop the giant fan … then you toss another shovel of coal on humanity so they won’t freeze to death, not be able to pay their power bills and can feel warm and comfy again … as we should. Then you go buy a box of donuts and dig out your fat clothes.
Now … take the billions wasted on failed green gizmos and put that $$ into research to find a true new energy that does what the failed green scam was never able to do. Fusion?
And, of course, Merkel closed all nuclear plants.

It’s not a lack of available technology that keeps us from solving our energy problems, but rather a lack of public will to elect the people who would make it happen. Most voters want promises for more free stuff from some ‘dreamy’ political-celeb. People get the government they deserve.
coal can be very clean. the technology is there. CO2 is not a pollutant and is not causing global warming.
