  1. Political Correctness, the institutionalized hate crime of the Proggs.
They do not seek to discuss any ideas, they seek to shame and demean.
Then they wonder why their behaviour provokes violence.
Then they huddle together in groupthink, basking in each others wisdom.Complaining about those unwashed heathen rednecks.
While violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, that presumes intelligence from all.
Some people are so stupid and dangerous, that violence is necessary to drive them away.
Before they harm you and yours.
What practical remedy exists for rationally dealing with people who seek to destroy your wealth, freedom and wellbeing?
What rational discussion is possible with those who demand to share the wealth of productive people while contributing nothing themselves?

  2. “What practical remedy exists for rationally dealing with people who seek to destroy your wealth, freedom and well being?”
It seems that the great divide in Western societies has increasingly become a rift that discussion and democracy can’t bridge without winners and losers. Statists are winning and liberty is losing. Conservatives can only fight a rear guard action (few gains, slower decline). Without advocating for violence, I have trouble not seeing a future where the alternatives are an eventual and decisive and relatively peaceful return to serfdom or civil war.
I maintain that whomever owns the culture wins and right now that is clearly owned by the institutional left. Some have argued that economics trumps culture but I am skeptical on that front.

  3. Yeah well I don’t discriminate….I hate everybody!…for good reason.
Those who bully in the name of tolerance….
Those who engage in violence….whether to enforce their bullying or those who, IMHO, advocate violence prematurely/hastily to suppress the bullys.
There is nothing civil about civil war…but it seems this will end badly.

  4. Economics always does trump culture, but sometimes a defective culture is so widespread and deeply infused that it destroys the economy first. When the economy has been destroyed, economics will trump culture.

  5. The mob is best avoided at nearly all cost.
Culture is economics, I think, when we are rich we are careless and lazy, very tolerant of excess and waste.
When times are tough, culture becomes much less tolerant of waste ,theft and destruction.
But if the rule of law fails, the mob will rise.
Better a savage, than a slave.
And I am hard pressed to separate theft of more than 1/2 of the return of my labour, in return for promises which can not be kept, by blatant liars and thieves , from slavery.
Tolerate these thefts or be imprisoned?

  6. “You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life” ~ Winston Churchill.
Scripture says “let your yes be yes and your no be no.” If you live by that maxim, you’ll always have enemies. Nowhere does Scripture say, “thou shalt be nice.” It does say, “Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets” (Luke 6:26).
A pox on self-serving niceness. If you’re in any way discerning, there are going to be people and things that you really dislike, for good reason — they’re probably toxic, and that’s not only OK it’s totally necessary if you’re going to survive.
That’s why the Leftards push loving, indiscriminately, all mankind — not that they do. If we’re enjoined to do that and are punished when we don’t “tolerate” everything and everyone, then they get to take over. If they can get most of us to be docile acceptors — and punish those of us who refuse to accept the unacceptable — then they capture the flag and it’s game over for the “nice” people. Mission accomplished.

  7. A bit out of character for Reason magazine, one of DC’s best known peddlers of the sort of “libertarian” pablum that easily gets the nihil obstat of polite liberal society.
Put plainly, Reason is what liberals wish conservative journalism was like, their editorial slant a form of liberalism designed to appeal to young white men whose only real complaint with official liberalism is that it costs them money. They quite enjoy having brown people around to save them the trouble of mowing their own Virginia lawns, much less making an honest woman out of someone who knows how to cook. The ones who are not unrepentant perverts turn a blind eye to sodomy, having no children and scant interest in having any. They’re counting on the stock market to provide in their old age.
Reason contributors regularly “graduate” to mainstream media outlets, which does not happen to journalists who regularly report on things the MSM and their paymasters don’t want discussed.
A far better example of what and whom Reason readers are expected to hate can be found in a recent article quoting approvingly Doug Saunders’ claims that the West’s Islamic problem is a figment of a paranoid reactionary imagination, and that white Protestants who insist on defending home and hearth from the communist and Islamic menaces, and exposing them at home and abroad, are a greater threat to the republic than the mass importation of savages who have as much knowledge of Christian morality and British liberty as they do of the canals of Mars.

  8. Greg Gutfeld does more to uphold freedom every day
on Fox than all the horrible RINOS and their Dem
soulmates in Washington do in a year.

  9. John Chittick, that was well said. You must have read The Road to Serfdom by Hayek, and followed up nicely by The Tooner. Hayek warned that htis was happening already in the 30s and 40s and the final stages, where the government tells you how to live are upon us. What Tooner surmises is what ultimately happened in the Soviet Union, and, Sean Penn and the other loony tunes in the US and Canada not withstanding, most likely will also happen in Venezuela soon enough.

  10. “They dictate what’s good without ever having to experience the consequences of their own beliefs.”
Best statement I have heard in quite some time !

  11. Marginal people with no real idea of source of their viewpoints will invariably resort to censorthip to avoid scrutiny. The hostility to any counter to AGW theory (call people oil shills when vastly more $ directed to AGW proponents, example).
When that doesn’t work then character assassinations next (Rob Ford grabbed my a**). A college prof of mine called this the sin of omission which was far worse than mistake in judgement because it intended to mislead.
What you end up with is ignorance of coal generated pollution (so China, India not to blame) the sun (AGW models purposefully omit its influence) and postponing the climate disaster, tipping point, that never happens, but is surely in the future.
When this ultimately fails, as computer models disprove AGW theory, the warmists will claim credit for cooling. Watch for it.
