  1. William:
It was a done deal. I welcome being able to hear him express himself. It sure beats the circus you see in the US. Then again we tend to be polite 😉

  2. Rothstein is Jewish That makes 3 Jewish Judges, Fish, Rothstein and Abdella
Thre are four French judges: Bastarach, Lebel, Deschamps and Charron are all French.
Corneil-Binnie appears to be half French/English, and that leaves only McLachlin as the supposedly only anglo/saxon/celt judge on the bench total of nine judges.
And to boot, Rothstein’s wife appears to be a French Quebecor.
Now, not only almost 100% of Canada’s media, but the Supreme Court is under the control of Jewish and French people, and you tell me there is no conspiracy? This scam is even worse than in the USA.
So what does this all mean for anglo/saxon/celt people in Canada? Well, just look at the desperate status of anglo/saxon/celts in Quebec, who basically have no rights or jobs, and maybe you have the answer. Just wait for this to spread around Canada. Don’t they have French only clinics in Ontario already?

As you can see, very few anglo/saxon/celt names: Lots of French and Jewish names. In fact, as usual, there is not one, NOT ONE, anglo/saxon/celt female executive name on the list.
Only one question left to answer here. Is Harper a traitor to the anglo/saxon/celts of Canada, or he is really taking baby steps….and should we have given him a better mandate to govern…a majority? Are his hands tied with the minority or not?
And for all you anglo/saxon/celt LIBERAL female voters, I hope you are learning from this. You so called open Liberal-minded forward-thinking morons have destroyed any future for us. Anglo/saxon/celtic women of Canada need to start SCREAMING RACISM.
Furthermore, did you not all see the ethnic makeup of the committee questioning Rothstein? This is a joke Canada. When are anglo/saxon/celts going to catch on in this country that we are in trouble?

  3. How ’bout small minded bigot if you object to racist?Goodness knows I would’nt want you to be offended!

  4. “Is Harper a traitor to the anglo/saxon/celts of Canada”
Right. The old clarion call against “race traitors”.
I suppose just by commenting I’m feeding the troll, so maybe I should just…

  5. Correction from my previous post…The site that I researched that indicated that Rothstein’s wife may be French might be wrong.

  6. Maybe you need to set up a university scholarship for Anglos/Saxons/Celts and name it I dunno what was the name of the guy who was the left-handed bagpipe technician on Royal Candian Air Farce.

I thought we were told that we could put away our tin foil hats for awhile. Why does everything have to boil down to conspiratorial, racist, minority dribble so much of the time. Perhaps we could get a group rate on padded cells if we get our orders in early. Be careful, the new “Jewish SC Justice with the french wife” might turn the tables and order a mass roundup of anglo saxon celts and have them tossed into the padded cells. > Give me a break. Are we still afraid of the boogeyman after dark too!
Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Justice Minister Vic Toews must have had their reasons for going in the direction they did with this appointmnet. The last thing we need is to turn this into a partizan freak show like they have south of the border. The man has passed whatever litmus test we have in this country for SC justices and will be installed. Could some of us have wished for it to be a different choice…of course. I am sure that the natives still feel disnfranchised for one group as an example. Having said that,it was refreshing to hear the mans voice and get some sense of him during the statement and subsequent questioning in a PUBLIC forum. Television opens the windows on these crusty old seemingly secretive institutions. First Parliament. Now the Supreme Court. What next? Perhaps the upcoming Public Works Expenditure hearings…first up…relocation allowances!

  9. I’ve got it, dddk – the answer, that is, to our problem. Only anglo/saxon/celts immigrants will be allowed into our new military!

  10. I am a software engineer. A supreme court judge who is an expert in intellectual property is very useful at this time. His pending appointment is a stroke of genius from my point of view.

  11. CS:
Jock McBile. His show was “Get Stuffed”. Funny Scotch dude!
He’s retired now right? I wonder if he spends his “McBile” on blogs under a psuedonym. hmmmm, another conspiracy!

  12. To all the people critical of dddkinnear for bringing up the ethnicity/religious beliefs of the SCOC justices. GIVE IT A REST! You know damn well what kind of outrage there would be if the court was all anglo-saxon. I’m sick and tired of living in a world where if a group is comprised mostly os WASPs then something is outrageously wrong but if a group of people that comprise 3% of the Canadian population hold 50% of the SCOC positions if is not only completely normal but outrageous to comment on it. I personally don’t give a rats as about this (so long as they aren’t muslim I couldn’t care less) but I can’t stand people who scream “racist” or “bigot” when someone notes the ethnicity or religion of a group is disproportionately out of whack.

  13. Gordon Dundas ; Ted ; Daniel:…I don’t normally post something prefaced by something sounding apologetic (as in PC),,, but here it is:
read…. “Bi-lingual Today, French Tomorrow”…J. V. Andrews…an interesting book…written before some on this comment community were born. (surprisingly, a lot (if not all) copies have been mysteriously removed from public libraries…ie: gone missing/ stolen?)).
As well, anyone remember “The Bi-Lingual Commission”? I can tell you a few stories about that as well (Cheri…I was very close for this one!!). cretien meeting (on the International Depatrures Level at Dorval airport) with ENGLISH controllers who opposed bi-lingual Air Traffic Control communications because of SAFETY and cretien (with jean marchant and 2 others) stating…”We don’t want you maudit anglais here”. This meeting was to determine where these controllers were going to be moved because the gov’t didn’t want it to hit the press. What was going to hit the press??…the slashed tires of ENGLISH controllers, in a SECURE DORVAL Airport parking lot…the garbage spread on these controllers’ front lawns (at home)…ETC). So much for the quiet revolution. The history is there…those who don’t learn by it are condemned to repeat it!!
I don’t agree completely with all that has been posted but it is NOT all retoric.

  14. What a PHONY process. Period. Since Harper can’t really do anything substantive with his teeny tiny ittsy bitsy minority, the best he can conjure up is something that looks like an ‘American process’. I suppose this will excite all on the extreme right wing, – but – it is PHONY!

  15. The Adversary Culture
The perverse anti-Westernism of the cultural elite
    Keith Windschuttle
    Address to: Summer Sounds Symposium
    Punga Cove, New Zealand
    February 11 2006
For the past three decades and more, many of the leading opinion makers in our universities, the media and the arts have regarded Western culture as, at best, something to be ashamed of, or at worst, something to be opposed. Before the 1960s, if Western intellectuals reflected on the long-term achievements of their culture, they explained it in terms of its own evolution: the inheritance of ancient Greece, Rome and Christianity, tempered by the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Enlightenment and the scientific and industrial revolutions. Even a radical critique like Marxism was primarily an internal affair, intent on fulfilling what it imagined to be the destiny of the West, taking its history to what it thought would be a higher level.
Today, however, such thinking is dismissed by the prevailing intelligentsia as triumphalist. Western political and economic dominance is more commonly explained not by its internal dynamics but by its external behaviour, especially its rivalry and aggression towards other cultures. Western success has purportedly been at their expense. Instead of pushing for internal reform or revolution, this new radicalism constitutes an overwhelmingly negative critique of Western civilization itself.
According to this ideology, instead of attempting to globalise its values, the West should stay in its own cultural backyard. Values like universal human rights, individualism and liberalism are regarded merely as ethnocentric products of Western history. The scientific knowledge that the West has produced is simply one of many ways of knowing. In place of Western universalism, this critique offers cultural relativism, a concept that regards the West not as the pinnacle of human achievement to date, but as simply one of many equally valid cultural systems.
Cultural relativism claims there are no absolute standards for assessing human culture. Hence all cultures should be regarded as equal, though different. It comes in two varieties: soft and hard.
The soft version now prevails in aesthetics. Take a university course in literary criticism or art theory and you will now find traditional standards no longer apply. Italian opera can no longer be regarded as superior to Chinese opera. The theatre of Shakespeare was not better than that of Kabuki, only different.
The hard version comes from the social sciences and from cultural studies. Cultural practices from which most Westerners instinctively shrink are now accorded their own integrity, lest the culture that produced them be demeaned.
For instance, although Western feminists once found the overt misogyny of many tribal cultures distasteful, in recent years they have come to respect practices they once condemned. Feminist academics now deny that suttee, the incineration of widows, is barbaric. The Indian-American cultural studies theorist, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak gives suttee an honourable place in Indian culture by comparing it to the Christian tradition of martyrdom. Feminists once denounced the surgical removal of the clitoris of Muslim women as female genital mutilation. Lately, the procedure has been redefined as genital cutting, which the literary and art critic Germaine Greer now argues should be recognized as an authentic manifestation of the culture of the Muslim women concerned.
    …
The concepts of free enquiry and free expression and the right to criticise entrenched beliefs are things we take so much for granted they are almost part of the air we breathe. We need to recognise them as distinctly Western phenomena. They were never produced by Confucian or Hindu culture. Under Islam, the idea of objective inquiry had a brief life in the fourteenth century but was never heard of again. In the twentieth century, the first thing that every single communist government in the world did was suppress it.
But without this concept, the world would not be as it is today. There would have been no Copernicus, Galileo, Newton or Darwin. All of these thinkers profoundly offended the conventional wisdom of their day, and at great personal risk, in some cases to their lives but in all cases to their reputations and careers. But because they inherited a culture that valued free inquiry and free expression, it gave them the strength to continue.
Today, we live in an age of barbarism and decadence. There are barbarians outside the walls who want to destroy us and there is a decadent culture within. We are only getting what we deserve. The relentless critique of the West which has engaged our academic left and cultural elite since the 1960s has emboldened our adversaries and at the same time sapped our will to resist.
The consequences of this adversary culture are all around us. The way to oppose it, however, is less clear. The survival of the Western principles of free inquiry and free expression now depend entirely on whether we have the intelligence to understand their true value and the will to face down their enemies. + read all at:

“Harper can’t really do anything substantive with his teeny tiny ittsy bitsy minority”
—Shows how much you are able to understand about the real world of politics as it is today.
The Liberal Party is in a shambles, regardless of what the MSM says about “rebuilding” and “looking ahead”. They’re over $30 million in the hole. Criminal investigations are being made on them as we speak. The Bloc is now mortally terrified of the Tories’ and Mr Harper’s skyrocketing popularity in Quebec.
Minority… irrelevant… because neither the Bloc nor the Libranos want to be forced into another campaign for a long, long time… for if it were held today, according to a recent poll I saw, the Tories would crush them and get a majority. Canadians approve of the new PM at 59%. The Party is riding high in the polls, too. And last I saw, they were just six measly points behind the Bloc in La Belle Province.
You know, folks, the Bloc is a party which has been successful only by capitalizing on anger… first over the old PCs, then over the Liberals (who are now the equivalent of depleted uranium in Quebec) for their corruption, their sheer, cavalier disrespect and everything. Now, Quebeckers are sick and tired of being angry. They now see a positive, constructive respectful group of people in the Conservative Party and are likely to support them in increasing numbers.
Think we Conservatives are impotent? Well, just watch us…
And what of you leftists? What have you got going for you? You guys have totally blown all credibility with mainstream Canada. The people no longer listen to you, for they know y’all are just too damn extreme… with all due respect.

  17. ferrethouse,
Feel better now. Take a deep breath and repeat three times “It is good to be a Canadian or at least it is better than all of the alternatives!”
The point I was making to dddkinnear is that we are too quick to want to boil everything down to the lowest common denominator, like a persons name, ethnicity, gender etc. No, I didn’t think it outrageous to comment on it. Having said that, it doesn’t matter what is done any more but what it brings a cry of discrimination from somewhere. I think we need to be careful in smearing good hardworking people who are qualified to do a task simply on the basis of some perceived bias we think they may have or one that we have for that matter. The bytes had no sooner left dddkinnear’s computer than a retraction was sent out on faulty information to do with the judges wife. Why did the judges wife have to be dragged into this debate anyway! If the whole process degenerates into a smear campaign against the candidates and their families, who would want to serve and put themselves or their family through the hassle.
I happen to be one of the anglo saxon celts that was spoken of and sure it would have been nice to have had someone with my shared genes installed but I am not going turn it into a racial rant. I also feel that we were overlooked here in Saskatchewan as it was “our turn” to have a SC justice from this province as a part of the prairie tradition and rotation. Manitoba has had one since we last had. Should all the stubblejumpers of the land unite and march and decry the injustice (pardon the pun) of it all! Actually it is too cold to march so we sit behind our keyboards and rant instead which is our legal right in this great land of ours. Thanks to Kate for the opportunity to do so in such a forum as this.

  18. dddkinnear:
Are any of the people you list incompetent/unworthy? If not, then your angst stinks a bit. Let merit decide.
    maz2:
Great link. The ‘Western’ ethos you support is actually more-or-less the Judeo-Christian tradition. I believe that we (the J’s and C’s) should rally together and preserve what took centuries to accomplish.
Let’s start proving our commitment to ‘Western principles of free inquiry and free expression’ by demanding the immediate release of David Irving from the Austrian gulag. Let’s agree that
WW2 was bad for all 40 million who died and stop persecuting our own when they harp on specifics. I say this without irony; the Irving/
Mel Gibson stuff plays into the ‘anti-West’s’ hands. If the West-J-C’s took an ‘agree to disagree’ approach to discussion of our shared history, we would defang the Muslim zealots somewhat, no?
    Canadian Sentinel:
True, true, true. As long as the Tories don’t allow themselves to be smeared as racists/anti-anythings, they should be ok.

  19. ferrethouse
Further to the comment you made “but I can’t stand people who scream “racist” or “bigot”
you were defending dddkinnear who said:
“Anglo/saxon/celtic women of Canada need to start SCREAMING RACISM.”
Hmmmm, inciting racism = “screaming racism”
    Have a great Day!

  20. Quebec city and Calgary city have been twinned since 1956 and still are today. what does that say?! the conspiracy theorist in me says the Librals were intent on dividing us.

  21. Back to Justice Rothstein:
Im willing to bet that anyone w3ho watched the review learned something. I wonder how many Canadians knew anything about the courts and how they worked?
One of the most important things The Judge said was that they are to interpret the law, not make the law. He further said that when legislation is badly worded, their job became more difficult.
An example of that comes to mind:
A few years ago, here in Kamloops, there was a case where an elderly man (82 years old) beat the crap out of a young man who had broken into his house. The elderly man was charged, because he was deemed to have used “excessive” force. It seems the law says you can only use “reasonable” force. In these cases, judgements have to be made.
I got the message that he was telling the legislators to have some care when drafting laws.I wonder if they got it?

  22. Spicydoc:
“True, true, true. As long as the Tories don’t allow themselves to be smeared as racists/anti-anythings, they should be ok.”
The reasonable, logical mainstream of Canada no longer listens to inane, illogical, never, never, never proven charges of that which you’ve indicated. Othewise, we wouldn’t have won the election, wouldn’t be up in polling, particularly in Quebec, and Mr. Harper wouldn’t be up to 59% approval among Canadians.
Canadians have become far, far more sophisticated and skeptical towards the now-wholly disgraced left and will not be fooled again. Remember; fool us once, shame on them… fool us twice, shame on us…
The left has nothing to offer; no proof, no case to make, therefore it always seems to resort to the now-worthless screechery of “you bad” and whatnot…
The Liberals went ultra-far-left; that’s part of the reason why they’re dead in the political water.
Leftist illogic and demagoguery is a complete and total turn-off for Canadians of sound mind. They are now ignoring and turning away from the left in ever-increasing numbers, having awakened from their blissful post-Cold War, pre-9/11 slumber…

  23. The left is not and never was an invincible monolith.
The people are the invincible monolith.
Anger the people and you’re finished.
That’s the beauty of freedom, democracy and the rule of law. May it live to completely envelope the entire globe and benefit all humanity for eternity…
Who but the brainless, the insane and the sheerly evil could oppose the relentless spread of freedom, democracy and the rule of law?

  24. Did anyone notice how Peter Hogg has been elevated to some conventionally accepted status as a honorary 10th member of the SCC?
I could puke….be the only guy to compile SCC decisions and you become the nation’s constitutional oracle …gimme a break…and the bowing and scraping to this academic was nausiating (Comartin/Cotler et al)…maybe if he had argued any of his judicial or constitutional theories before a court I could have a modicum of respect…but as far as I can see he is just another cloistered academic who just happens to be the only one to compile a couple of books on constitutional deisions…he is NOT a constitutional oracle who the parties trot out to sanctify their charter/constitutional legeslating.
On Rothstein: The man was too guarded in condemning judicial activism and ultra vires rulings to make me feel comfortable, and the committee failed to ask the direct, hard questions Canadians want answered by the judiciary…in that regard this was one group of smug bureaucrats, cutting another group of elitist bureaucrats professional slack.
What a limp theatrical farce…living proof that justice in Canada is inaccessable by the common man and the realm of a bureaucratic/political/academic elite……so this is Harper’s open government?…a rubber stanp but done in a scropted public cerimony….I’m unimpressed.

  25. Reg said: “I am a software engineer. A supreme court judge who is an expert in intellectual property is very useful at this time. His pending appointment is a stroke of genius from my point of view.”
Reg, the SCC will touch a case involving property but it is hit and miss decision wise…first because there is no property right written in the constitution/charter (which is SCC domain) and secondly it is the federal courts who deal primarily in the upper level precedent setting cases of tort involving personal/corporate property, property claims against the govenment etc.
Any one at Gowlings will tell you your chances are better in Federal court for a favorable ruling on property than in the SCC…primarily because of the lack of personal property rights as a charter right.

  26. WL,
He was talking about intellectual property, not property as a charter right. IP is a very specialized area and there is a dearth of experiance on it in the SCC now. Actually, Rothstein was respoinsible for shaping much of the FC’s approach to IP. In particular, his ruling in the harvard case was far better reasoned than the eventual SCC decision. This is actually the major reason why I like this appointment.
    DDDkinnear,
We’ve had this conversation before, but…
What is your problem with Jewish judges?
More to the point, what on earth does this have to do with ethnic relations in Quebec?
Finally, I’ve looked at your list. If anything, Anglo/saxon/celts are overrepresented on that list, considering that Air Canada is a qubec company.
Dee, Howlett, McLean, Milton, Reid, Smith, Tait, and Turner all sound quite English to me.
There is no denying that Quebec language laws are biased against anglos. But to suggest that there is some sort of anti-“English” conspiracy at work in canada as a whole is absurd.

  27. dddkinear,
What the hell kind of post is that??
No wonder people in Toronto and Montreal run like hell from Tory Westerners… I might be right wing, but who gives a shit what religion, ethnicity, or what have you a judge is?
He could be a talking horse for all I care, as long as he does a decent job. I merely thought it ironic that the Liberals, after having Graham do the “We’ll fight them in the trenchs, on the beach” routine, practically dropped to their knees in adoration of Rothstein.
This “the Jews are taking over the world” shit has got to stop. You want to worry about who is taking over the world, then you would be better off looking east, to the rising power of the Chinese and the Indians. Shouting to the moon that there is a Zionist conspiracy is getting pretty old.
As far as “Celt/AngloSaxon culture needing to wake up… after 400 years of fucking everyone and their dog around across the globe… if we are getting our ass’ kicked, it’s because we are too lazy… that’s a problem for us, not the fault of the Jews.
Personally, coming from a family that dates back over a 1000 years, with a history neck deep in warfare… the world could probably use a break from the likes of me and mine. Pretty obvious the Celtic/AngloSaxon methodology has more than a few holes in it.
That’s the way it works Maz, first you fight, then you party, then you get fat and lazy. Just because Western Society can’t be bothered learning from history, doesn’t mean another culture won’t rise to the occasion.
Remember, Mao said the ultimate goal of Communism is to evolve into a Capitalist.
Look at China now. We don’t see it in the newpapers, but the reality is Capitalism, free speech, and freedom of thought are alive and well there in numbers we can only dream of achieving…
The Chinese Government is desperately putting down protests and mini-uprisings almost daily now in China. It’s only a matter of time before the Communist leaders there can’t hold on to the reins anymore. That’s because the Chinese people are coming into their own, and just like us, eventually they will get what they want, they will wallow in it like the pigs we’ve become, and some fucker will stick them straight up the ass just it’s being done to Western society today.
Some things in life never change.
Unless of course you have a good war handy, or have one in the planning… Western Society, and Celtic/AngloSaxon culture does one thing really, really well… We have a thousand different ways to blow shit up.
I suppose if we really wanted to continue to lead the pack, we’d just start killing them all. Since we haven’t done that, well… Darwinism anyone?

  28. Dee and Ben Smith are Asian, but that’t not the real point here. There isn’t a massive Jewish population in Quebec or Canada either, yet they seem to be ‘overrepresented’ at Air Canada, to quote your words. Oh, and again, there is not one, again I say, not one, anglo/saxon/celt female, which is my reallty BIG POINT. And my other really big point is that this scenario is starting to spread around Canada, most notably, Ontario and New Brunswick, especially with Crown, former Crown, or heavily federal connected corporations.
So, since the powerful media is now almost completely French and Jewish controlled in Canada, and the anglo/saxon/celt population outside Quebec is still around 50%, what do you have to say about French and Jewish overrepresentation in that powerful segment of society? Right back at ya. At least I don’t skew information like you do.

  29. ok dddkinnear,
1)I do NOT skew information. All I said was that those names SOUNDED english. If those two are Asian, than I was in error for including them. But even if you remove those two, there is still no shortage of “English” names.
    2) Your point re: sexism is well taken, though I would say that it applies to women on major corporate boards generally.
3)What do I have to say about Jewish “overrepresentation”?
It doesn’t bother me at all. Unlike you, I don’t really care about the ethnic makeup of any given industry/position.
Please note: I am about as “english” as you can get; only one generation removed from the U.K.
    4) Why do you insist on including personal comments in your posts (“at least I don’t…”)? This can be a reasoned debate. Let’s keep it objective.
    5) you still haven’t answered my primary question: What is the problem with Jewish judges? Why should people of English origin only trust people of the same origin on the bench?

  30. Earthquate (4.7) in Ottawa not insignificant!
Canadians can organize and present consensus to our government going forward after Apr.3rd.
Present your priority issues to your local MPs.
Their effectiveness/ineffectiveness on floor is what will affect change and move democracy forward. They couldn’t vote their conscience under liberal leadership and even their frustration was extreme.
My List: Child poverty, eradication of child pornography, homelessness — any leadership ignoring these as emergency priority issues simply doesn’t have the moral authority to govern.Case closed. Minimum wage/border wages legislation high on list, accountability and prosecution of who I refer to as the “Canadian Dirty Dozen”, those named in the Gomery report.
Recouped funds on Adscam alone would feed every hungry child in Canada til age of majority along with astronomical gun registry fiasco.
The proud history of Conservatism in this country always consisted of substantial goal-setting, ethical business practices promoting productive enterprises, etc.
Decades now of “anything goes” society is rot from within. New government must wean out and target legitimate business from illegitimate business expansion such as orgy houses which have plans for expansion.

  31. I found the process very interesting and enjoyed the opportunity to come to know the new justice of the SC a little better. Joe CoMartin’s take in terms of all his negativity strikes me as rather badly (sadly) off the mark!!
One point of interest was covered in terms of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and balancing off responsibilities. The justice’s response was very clear. The Charter says nothing about responsibilities so whatever consideration is given to this must come from “other” (read not clear at all) parts of the charter or from other closely related legislation (which is not much by the sounds of it). He went on to say that the SC must work within the framework of existing legislation. Other than can be indirectly inferred (highly subjective), the SC decisions are not likely to have much in the way of responsilities addressed.
I believe that Rights and Freedoms that have been granted/allowed/permitted to individuals/very small minority groups have gone far to far. The social engineering of the Liberals and their appointees in all institutions of government (read forced bilingualism combined with many of Immigration (and particularly Refugee) policies have gone far to much out of control. To many people feel they have a right to their rights/freedoms and don’t give two hoots in hell about responsibilities that are necessary to have a peaceful country.
Surely, immigrants who choose to go to any new country must have/take more than a little responsibility in terms of intergrating into that new society rather than changing it to suit their own needs. If they don’t, then surely they can expect to be shut out from things only they see as a high need (like Sharia Law). People who are not happy in Canada and seek to change our institutions without being in Canada for much more than months/2-3 years are always free to find some other place in the world if they hare not happy here. New immigrants will force as much change on existing society allows them to do so – it is time that Canadians start pushing back now, if it already isn’t to late. When questioned afterwards about how it comes to happen – their (radicals) response will likely be well, you were dumb enough to let it happen – don’t blame us for bringing change or taking advantage of all the perks so readily available. (Like $.75M to provide for legal costs for having hob-nobbed with highly questionable security risks). Or the expectation that we, the taxpayers, should fork out $400M as a settlement for – hmmmmmm just what – the same reasons???? It didn’t take the U.S. much time to dispense with the similar claim yet here we are – $15M later in taxpayers money and wondering if our government is dumb enough to pay out on this settlement.
Because Canada has become well known world wide as being an easy touch for all nature of sh*t-disturbers – guess what – we have far to many in M/T/V. Apparently we have something like 200,000 illegal immigrants and there are those people who are advocating that they should become fully participating Canadian citizens with all of the benfits attached thereto. This is garbage!!!!! Hopefully our newly minted C/Immig. minister is not going to fall for this one!!!!
Surely, we who have been here for two and three generations and make up, by far, the majority of the population should not have to stand for being labelled as racists, biggots, and worse if we opinionize against so much of what we feel to be is wrongheaded multiculturalism/bilingualism – as defined by the liberal/far left people in this country. Not to mention Citizenship/Refugee policies as well as the IRB.
I believe there are a whole lot of people out there who are close to coming out on these issues. Many who have, heretofore, remained silent because it was considered to be “the proper thing to do” (or more recently, the politically correct thing to do). Many who have been concerned about being labelled publicly as racists, biggots, and people who are unwilling to share our country, regardles of the ethnic origin.
Time to stand up and be counted now, before it really is to late.

  32. I watched the entire proceedings on CPAC I don’t want talking heads telling me what to think. I want to see the original. I was very impressed with Judge Rothstein – his demeour, humor, and humility. We got to see the person – his judgments and writings are all published (clear and consise). As I watched the proceedings I wondered how many of the sitting Supremes could pass this public test?

  33. KKKinnear, time to move on. by the way, the percentage of jews that are lawyers is much higher than their number in the general population.
wl mack, peter hogg is brilliant, i had him as a prof at osgoode for tax and constitutional. he’s also counsel at blake cassels & graydon.

  34. WLM:
Hogg deserves the status that he has. He is widely considered a possible future candidate for the SCC, and would be an absolute asset if that ever comes to fruition.
Apart from being THE authority on the constitution, constitutional interpretation, and everything that follows, he is also an accomplished litigator (that is an understatement). He has appeared before the SCC many times, and is sought after by most parties to a dispute containing constitutional dimensions, including the federal government, which has enlisted his advocacy for some of the most controversial litigations this country has ever seen. There are few, and I emphasize few, academics who deserve the level of praise that Hogg receives, and he is the lead of that small group.
