A real-life farce in Vancouver is starting to look a whole lot like something out of Hollywood. The National Post Editorial Board is rightfully condemning the complete lack of progress by the Vancouver Police on charging the June 15th rioters.
If you live in the Metro Vancouver area and would like to be a panelist on this subject on Roy Green’s radio program this Saturday around 1:30pm PDT then please send me an e-mail asap. No exceptions, you must live in the Vancouver area.

Read the three comments so far on the NP website. No one is outraged (yet), one idiot seems to think that this is just youthful exuberance and prosecution serves no purpose, and one seems to think that waiting two or three months before charging a single person is just good police work. Good grief.
Come on people…
The crack Vancouver law enforcement community has had bigger thing to work on. After all, they nailed the infamous kitten lady in record time. What is the destruction of several city blocks, personal vehicles, and outright theft compared to someone dropping kittens in a garbage can.
Everyone should just chill. Head out to your local government drug shooting location and forget all of this riot crap.
When you are at your local drug shooting center, make sure you pick up your crack pipe too.
Gregor Robertson needs to step up and take the blame for this.
I am embarrassed to live in BC. As far as I know 2 people total have been officially charged.
WE have no law in this Nation anymore except that working people are now just targets for fines.Jailed in their own homes, while not being allowed to defend themselves. Mean while, crimminals walk free, own guns without licences, are rarley have anu cosequences to being fined at all, & get jail time with big screen Tv’s if they get caught for a show trail by a liberal judge. Of course getting a free education as well. Plus having theoption to sssue your victim with the persons own taxs helpng you. Of course the individual hurt does not get a free lawyer.
The Police you see have to be culturaly sensitive to thugs, & crooks.
JMO
Id say Gong Show , but vancouver might take it as racist against Jimmy Chu.
The fact that they have live video and Facebook pages for evidence, and in the case of that Olympic athlete kid an actual confession on nationwide TV, it seems not to be helping much. One might almost believe they weren’t trying very hard.
Calvin A, I’ve just checked the comments—about 22 now—at the National Post and they nearly all condemn the laxity of the justice system re the rioters.
The idiocy of our “rulers” is truly terrifying.
And they wonder why the riots took place….
When was the last time you heard of a law enforcement official be it RCMP, City Police or in the judical system be fired for incompetence? We have a legal system that cannot get the job done and is basically unaccountable for not doing so.
It is a known fact that BC is a drug dealing hotbed within Canada. People almost brag about the multi billion $ pot industry. Year in and year out enforcement pretty much draws blanks on shutting this down. With the amount of money involved it would be a stretch to believe that payoffs and corruption abound within a system that does not restrict this action in a meaningful way.
The Vancouver riot is embarassing for those responsible for upholding civil order simply because it draws attention to the kaos that everyone turns a blind eye to on a regular basis. Why worry about whether the street punks get dealt with when your legal system is corrupt and your politicans aren’t far behind.
British Columbia is unique amongst the provinces in that the police do not lay charges. The provincial crown decides to lay charges. See this interview where the riots are discussed – go to 2:37 in the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLvUxC3fBhk&feature=related
So it is the B.C. A.G. bureaucrats and lawyers making the decision to lay charges against rioters, not the VPD. And since the A.G. is almost exclusively female these days – thanks to gender equality hiring practices for the past 15 years – most of these women are in their prime child-bearing years (late 30’s). So they are taking extended maternity leave to produce sprogs. And insisting on flexible hours and not travelling when they go back on the job. And remember, the riots went off right at the beginning of the traditional vacation season for these bureaucrats – most of them are at 4 to 5 weeks annual leave.
That’s why no charges have been filed.
The NP needs to check facts.
Which means, T.C., that BC is uniquely screwed up.
Mark @ 9:00, and has been for some time.
..and another foot washes up on the beach but don’t worry folks, there was no sign of trauma, just natural seperation of the foot and leg from the body. Only in BC could 11 feet washing up on the beach be considered normal.
We have a 4 billion dollar illegal drug industry. It’s clear their paid lobbyists bought some help.

A big thanks to those who contacted me. Roy now has his panel for this Saturday’s segment!!
The only way to get the attention of turf bickering AG/Police incompetence is if The NHL demands that Vancouver post a Cash BOND to protect visiting team players & fans. The police have proved themselves worthless in preventing a riot..
500 Million would work, or move the team to a city with a working legal system…
Will the twins return to Vancouver? Thelma & Louise don’t like rough play……
Thanks Robert W, I will be listening to the show. I’m not absolving Jim Chu, obviously a lot of the blame falls at his feet, but I’m concerned with the free ride that has been accorded Gregor (bike lane) Robertson and his bureaucrats, Christy (the clown) Clark and the A.G’s office. This has the stench of Pierre’s Charter all over it.
It would be a good start and a way to save face if they would even just put a few of the white rioters in jail.
“put a few of the white rioters in jail”
Or just pick one of each colour and proclaim they had a balanced booking approach. Equal Opportunity Arrests. For the love of God bust somebody! The city didn’t ignite itself.
Re: this whole issue about the washed-up feet: Does nobody find it odd, that it’s always a foot, usually in a running shoe making an appearance?
Never a complete leg, a torso, a forearm, a body missing a foot??
Personally, I’d be focusing my investigation toward the funeral/crematorial industry. A perfect cover if there ever was one. You gotta know there’s some sicko whack-job employed, cloaked in anonymity, getting his jollies by baiting the public, the news media, and perpetuating the mystique!
Meanwhile, Jim Chu….”Gee, none of this was in Bein’ a Cop 101 when I went to school! Lucky for me there was affimative action!”
This isn’t about social justice, but about training the masses to take photos, lots of them, post them on line and let the authorities use retina scan technology to positively ID the perps. Then send the police to go and arrest them under the cover of night, light, or whenever they choose. With the full backing of the public.
Know your friend, know your enemies better.
I see the Economist has ranked Vancouver, Toronto, as 3,4 in their list of the world’s most livable cities. “Riot with impunity” must now be one of the metrics used.
“British Columbia is unique amongst the provinces in that the police do not lay charges. The provincial crown decides to lay charges. See this interview where the riots are discussed – go to 2:37 in the video:”
You are right as far as it goes. BUT, the police hgather the evidence to PRESENT to the crown so they can lay the charges. To date the cops have NOT presented the evidence to the crown so they can lay the charges. Not that it will matter much in the end anyway. The milquetoast judges will just give out suspended sentences. The poor injun kid who dragged Grant DepAte 7 or 8 KM under his car in a gas and dash had a hard upbringing-doncha know so they went all lenient on him. Worked too. When he got out on parole he went straight for also 6-12 hours before he committed another crime.
Cal 12:45 – with all due respect, Vancouver dropped to #3 on the livability list because the crack researchers (or maybe they’re on crack) at the Economist sited traffic problems on the Malahat Highway.
Slight problem…the Malahat Drive is on VANCOUVER ISLAND, not in the metro Vancouver area.
Perhaps Kate should file this under “Great Moments in Journalism”. Or perhaps they had a Journalism Degree from Univ of Manitoba?
That being said…rioting with impunity would clearly move Vancouver up in the Livability ranks for most of the world’s lefties.
The idiocy of our “rulers” is truly terrifying.

and do tell lookielook, WHO is in the prime minister’s office?
and why does this postig yet again cite the hated MSM ????
welcome to SDA, home of the hypocrite clan.
Gold, silver, and… ammo. Stock up now.
The riot act directs police to warn people to disperse then if they don’t the police are required to shoot trouble makers.
So much for laws.
casualobserver sneered: “and do tell lookielook, WHO is in the prime minister’s office?”
Yeah, and that matters because the Vancouver police are totally run by the PMO, right? Right?
Oh wait…
“welcome to SDA, home of the…” dumbest trolls on the entire Interwebs. Try harder, casualmoron.
The VPD enforces next to nothing. You would probably have to commit murder in broad daylight to get any attention from them. They are arrogant and surly, will not look anyone in the eye and spend their days peering through the glass of their squad cars. If you see them out of the car it is only to head into Starbucks. Worst police force I have ever seen.
The VPD are now only social workers. Just watch then any day of the week down on W Hastings, Cordova, Powell, Columbia, Main…. It’s pathetic.
