  1. This just is more evidence that the vast majority of post secondary school students are outside the reality loop……highly suggestible and easily led/mislead.

  2. While I don’t totally agree with the students, I can see their reasons if you connect the dots of the stinking rich around the world rubbing it in all our faces. Whether it is the Wheat Board here in Canada, The CBC, The Climate Exchange, Globull warming, etc, the average person working hard to just pay for a 300,000 house and a 50,000 truck are getting a little sick of the Gores Windsors Martins Strongs Suzukis Obongos, loading their personal bank accounts on deciet and dishonesty.

  3. I have *zero* sympathy for these so-called students that are nothing but vandals. None. Zip.
When my father was an undergraduate student, a long time ago now, he rode his bike 30km each way (no exaggeration) to get there because his family couldn’t afford to put him in a dorm. He had to spend hours in the library because he couldn’t afford to buy the course textbooks and so had to use the ones on the library shelf. And he had to work a job, and get good grades for scholarships, so that he could pay for it.
And by the end of his university training he had two doctorates!
So to hell with these whining little maggot infested Marxists.
Universities are heading for trouble because they have opened their doors too widely.

  4. Bartinsky raise some good issues, but anarchists destroying everything in their path, is well, childish, to start.
Their approach only corrodes whatever credibility the protestors may have had. There are more intelligent ways to get their points across.

  5. Eventually socialist run out of other peoples money to spend..
And the result is the culture of entitlement ending with the predicable results

  6. I’m sure a lot are the usual black bandana over the face wearing anarchists. Blech, I hate those guys.

  7. the cowmilla got poked in the ribs? was it a proper electric cattle prod?
royalty is the biggest privately enriching scam and fraud invented by mankind.
keep going back, back, back and you run into either a couple primates or the garden of eden. neither of which consisted of royals ergo splatola with the ‘blue blood’ lineage they are so fond of touting.
inbred parasitic infection on the backs of the toiling masses.

  8. That was absolutely hilarious in the TPA clip:
The taxpayer retrained an RAF pilot to become a stripper!!!

It is like children sitting in the market places and calling to their playmates, 17 `We piped to you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.’ 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, `He has a demon’; 19 the Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, `Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”

  9. The British gov’t should announce even higher tuition fees to cover the costs of the vandalism. Tell the idiots that the more they damage the higher their tuition.

  10. Apparently it was the “poor” oppressed son of Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour that was seen desicrating the war memorial during this nonsense.

  11. LOL !!
actually Katherine, I had the caps lock on and had the thing almost finished by the time I lOOked up at the monitor. what to do ….
a quick cut&paste into Word to switcheroo to lower case and voila, paste it back in.
y’all have a real nice weekend in cow pasture country. LOL !!!

  12. ‘Your “Opinions From People Who Can’t Manage A Shift Key” segment for today.’
Couldn’t agree more Kate – I skip over such opinions.
“working hard to just pay for a 300,000 house and a 50,000 truck”
Times have changed! Now a $50,000 truck is considered a right.
Time to dump my 16 year old car and enforce my rights too, I suppose. Where do I apply for the truck?

  13. “Your “Opinions From People Who Can’t Manage A Shift Key” segment for today.”

They can throw rocks and bricks over their shoulders and swing sticks high in the air like no one else though, right lower case ‘beagle’?

  14. Good call Kate, capn_bob and Hans.
The article in the Telegraph mentioned that the crowd was mostly friendly until the hard core arrived. This is exactly it and the way the radical left works. The radial left and anarchists convince the people to go and protest and then at critical moments take control of the crowd and whip it into frenzy.

  15. That’s a pretty simplistic view of things.
I am surprised that complexity of the issue has escaped the enlightened right-wingers (allegedly) on this blog.
The students are protesting increase in tuition. On the face, that’s spoiled socialist youth venting their sense of entitlement.
But if you look deeper, you’ll notice that overtaxed UK is paying government thru the nose, and government wastes greater and greater portion of collected taxes on sh1t that nobody benefits from. And then you might realize that is what the students are protesting.
Only if the government of UK simultaneously increased tuition fees and slashed taxes, you would be totally right to claim that “What We Really Need Is Anarchy… With a really big government to pay for it.”
As it is now, you are denying people’s right to protest a draconian law. So much for pretending to be a conservative.

Hey hush puppy, in school they though us that each new phrase needs to start with a cap. Also after a…Pause. You might want to also look at the general result of your text before hitting the post button. It really shows approximately which generation you come from…Maybe you should get an extension and stay at the University you are now.

  17. This is what it looks like when the piggies are told go and seek their own fortune.
Britain … at the end of the money.
There were student riots in Mexico City many years ago. After some of them were machine gunned the riots stopped.
Chile was going down the communist toilet a few decades ago and Pinochet came along a killed off a ton of them … Chile is now a prosperous democracy.
There is a message somewhere in their. I think it is the recipe for ending anarchy.

  18. When something is subsidized, the producer loses the incentive to keep the costs down and redirects the subsidy to those things that are unsustainable, rather than cut loose the dead weight.
I give you the CBC as a prime example.

  19. Aaron, the story states that the protesters (be they students or, no)are protesting (and rioting) because the government is raising tuition to the colleges and universities,by almost 3 times what it was.

  20. Just a tad ironic. If the erstwhile anarchists had the prerequisite understanding of English required for university acceptance would they not know that anarchy is not a government funded operation?

  21. Poor Aaron thinks these Brit students/vandals are protesting a “root” cause. These spoiled socialist students have too much time on their hands if they can attend mob scenes. They most certainly haven’t studied history enough to realize that violent protest never gets the goals intended unless it is the anarchist’s goal.
It’s time to suck it up buttercup and go flip some burgers or sling some beer to pay for those books & tuition.

  22. So by your standards, if the Canadian homeschooling parents took to the streets to smash windows and burn cars after another education levy increase, you would condemn them as socialist freeloaders too?
I think it’s not even occurring to your enslaved brains that people have a right to revolt when all other options are exhausted.

  23. > They most certainly haven’t studied history enough to realize that violent protest never gets the goals intended unless it is the anarchist’s goal.
Holy cow, you’ve just defined the tea party (not the current impotent one – the one in Boston harbour).

  24. The end of the current (international) public sector debt bubble will likely end in rivers of blood from the entitlement engorged trying to take everyone down with them once the socialist spigots run dry. has anyone watched Beck lately? By the last 10 minutes of every show he is so demoralized, he’s unwatchable. I think he’s pretty astute with his spot light on the organized looters and thugs (top, bottom and their puppet masters) that will be taking to the streets in the not too distant future. Keep your powder dry.

  25. A few facts to help those sympathetic to the students. No money to be paid until after graduation. Loan rate is 3%. No payments until salary reaches equivalent of $30,000 US. Heard this from Stuart Varney on Fox News this am.

  26. Aaron
Folks who take it upon themselves to home school their kids are not the type that smash windows looking for entitlements.
As Kate pointed out earlier, your brain is broken.

  27. I was over there for art school in the early 70s. At that time students were about to lose a grant that offset the cost of tuition, basically free school.
The education minister of the day was somebody called Maggie Thatcher (Maggie Thatcher! Grant snatcher!! OUT OUT OUT).
I remember the “bolshies” were out in force but got little traction with the crowd. It was mostly a day off to go uptown to; shout a bit, go shopping and pub crawling.
    Times have changed.

  28. The “anarchists” are really nothing more than the brownshirts of the radical left. The radical left covers for them…..a symbiotic relationship of scum.

  29. You know what I saw yesterday that really burned my thrusters? Some “hate the rich” malcontent cut the limbs off a two thousand year old thorn tree in Glastonbury. A tree that stood through the countless wars, famines and assinine political upheavals of England for the last two THOUSAND years falls prey to some f-ing Leftist punk with a saw.
These people seriously need to be defeated.
But Kate, I find I must disagree with you about Aaron’s brain being broken. This cannot be. C’est impossible. Because clearly, Aaron has no brain.

  30. Dear fellow SDA readers, dear Kate :
It is about time someone start smashing the paradigm where everything is defined by left/right. Once you’ve sorted out everything in your mind the limits are showing up. You may retard into your safety box or let your brain about to be broken.
Revolts before they go to history books are started by hooligans for smallest of reasons, yet there is always underlying tension derived from widespread discontent. If Royal bodyguards would open fire, do you think what follows would be about tuitions ?
These are not garden variety riots. They happen from Athens to Dublin with increased frequency and ferocity. Social-democratic system of last 150 years is coming to a convulsive end. Supporting or condemning based on rigid political conviction of the past is futile, naive, cumbersome and awkward.

  31. Being so dumb I still can’t gather from this civilized debate whether it is a good thing or bad that UK government increased university tuition 3 times w/o adequate tax cuts. Can anyone explain?

  32. Before cutting back on education, which is allegedly super important to a nation’s ongoing prosperity, how’s about maybe cutting off the royals who cost taxpayers £36.7m per year.
Making education this expensive pretty much ensures that poor and working class families will be left out in the cold.

  33. John:
    > Before cutting back on education, which is
    > allegedly super important to a nation’s
    > ongoing prosperity
$20 says that Chicom and India bribed the corrupt western governments to destroy their economies, just like they bribe businesses to outsource.
Huge kickbacks get paid to those Indian ‘terminators’ who get hired by Western companies to facilitate outsourcing. We are being destroyed but worry only about facade AKA wikileaks.

  34. Read my post from 12:19 John – it’s not expensive. It’s only going up to where our fees are, and they have far better repayment terms. Ask Paul Wells who really benefits from low tuition. Spoiled rich kids end up being subsidized by working class taxpayers.

  35. I was thinking the other day that the left is so much like eating an Easter Bunny,
first they eat the ears so they cant hear.
then the head so they cant think
then the neck so it isnt red
then the body so they cant stomach reality
and then all that is left is the feet so they can run away.

  36. @Greg,
UK tuition fees are expected to cost between £5,000 and £9,000 pounds per year. This is considerably more than our universities, which top out at around $8,000 per year.
People have to expect anger from kids, when due to the ineptitude/greed of bankers who not only received massive bailouts, but gave themselves bonuses, are now facing massive debt in an uncertain economic future. Especially when they see the Effing Royals rolling through town to go shopping. Royals who cost £36.7m per year to keep.

  37. John – but they don’t have to pay up front other than through a low interest loan – not payable until they are settled in job. Why should Johnny down at the pub be paying for rich kids to go to school? I have two kids in University in 2 different provinces – I know exactly how much it costs here.

  38. This thread confirms my assertion that the crowd here is only capable of throwing insults at those who disagree with consensus, but runs away from specific questions.

  39. Johnny down at the pub, or his kids gets to go to school too if he chooses. Or at least he could have, but now, faced with a loan that could easily hit the equivalent of $60,000K.
And Johnny down at the pub benefits from living in a nation with a highly educated workforce. But hey… this fits in with the rightwing fear of “elites”, so don’t let me stop you. But be sure to dump the internet, modern medicine and all the other trappings of modern life. These were all build on the backs of the elites who attended affordable universities.

  40. Aaron
“if the Canadian homeschooling parents took to the streets to smash windows and burn cars after another education levy increase, you would condemn them as socialist freeloaders too?”
Let us know when that happens.
You’ve been holding your breath too long.

  41. The cost of living in Britain is such that a pound sterling now pretty much spends like a dollar.5lb pints, 8 lb movie tickets and so on, so the cost of tuition is now similar to ours, In the seventies tuition was effectively free, now they are paying market price with generous payback terms.

  42. Aaron @11:22 – what you’re saying would only make sense if the “anarchist” “students” were demanding lower taxes. I’d bet my eyeballs that’s not the case; after all, it’s not like any of them pay taxes. “The rich” pay taxes, remember?

  43. That was absolutely hilarious in the TPA clip:
The taxpayer retrained an RAF pilot to become a stripper!!!

I believe I read in the National Post recently that the Canadian Dept of Defense is not only accepting transgendered persons [read: seriousy ill nutbars] as soldiers, but is actually FUNDING the gender re-assignment surgeries.
I believe I read that. Or I could be hallucinating.
