  1. “China police close off jailed Nobel laureate’s home”
In other news, the NY Times Thomas Friedman could not be reached for comment.

  2. Just as the UN security council is a farce with China and Russia dominating “peace” initiatives, and constantly pointing the finger at the US while they engage in unrestricted militarizaed hegemony, the UNHRC is a similar farce with the world’s worst tyrannies holding seats on the council.
As in ALL of the UN’s agendas the Human Rights council is directed at deflecting criticism of the atrocities of the worst offenders and focusing only on imaginary violations in free western nations.
When will we pull the plug on this consortium of despots and racketeers?

  3. I feel rather sorry for Liu Xiaobo. Now she has to contend with the wrath of China’s government but is also equated with the likes of Jimmie Carter Jr., Al Gore, Yasser Arafat and Hussein Obama.

  4. “So when Pillay and her spokesman Rupert Colville say she wasn’t invited, they are being disingenuous and misrepresenting the truth.”
How mincing our language has become! Can’t anyone say,”so and so is a damned liar”!

  5. You’ll never know “Hu” or “Wen” they come knocking on your door.
    Freedom…what a concept.

  6. And everyone still buys “made in China” stuff. Go figure.
If we’re waiting for our governments to sanction a boycott of all things Chinese, we’ll wait an awful long time.
Nothing holding back the individual, though….

  7. The only way to solve the issue of human rights in China is through technological innovation, more use of the Internet and the establishment of free associations. This kind of connection between trade and democracy should bring the country on the right path in the future.
