Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle

Girls, get off the pill as soon as you can and don’t let your daughters to take it.
The pill will screw up metabolism and cause obesity and potentially cancer, needless to say all kinds of unwanted conditions.
Have as many kids as you can while you are young and tie the tubes, but don’t take the pill!
Hey I thought it was because Leo is such a great actor?
Nahhh.
Its because he drives a Prius
Another reason why you shouldn’t monkey around with nature.
Most women I’ve met were attracted to my wallet. I still can’t understand why an old piece of cowhide looks so good to most floozies…..
…that explains a lot about my singleness for so long!
And here all along I thought belching and beer farts were a mating call.
DOH!
Most women I’ve met were attracted to my wallet. I still can’t understand why an old piece of cowhide looks so good to most floozies…..
This may partially account for the falling demographics in the western world.
American women:( all in west)

Warren, I was just about to say the same.
This is nothing new. ‘The Pussification Of The North American Male’ has been noted by several pundits and bloggers and the effect can be seen right here in canada with tards like Warren Kinsella and Rick Mercer too.
I like it back in the 1950’s and I think I will stay here. You can keep your tattoos, your nose and eye brow jewellry, your homosexuality and other feats of social engineering to yourself, thanks!
The pill lies to your body: It tells you it’s pregnant when it isn’t (so your brain won’t send signals to the ovaries to release ova), and it reverses the signals to your brain about the release of estrogen and progesterone into your system.
So, the pill is all about lies and reversals (one of the main reasons I stopped taking it at the age of 26).
‘Any wonder that it’s affected the kind of guys girls go for?
is it the pill
or a rampant slide into liberalism
maybe both, but the decline of the popularity of masculine MEN is quite noticeable
I listened to this story on Adler today. I tend to believe it’s plausible.
I had a girlfriend, about 7 years ago, who told me things I didn’t need to know. She explained every stage of her cycle, in painfully explicit detail. It turned out, we had our first encounter on day 9. (She dumped her husband on day 23). I spent the next 400 days planning around her progesterone levels. Eventually, I grew some testosterone, and ended the experiment.
Is it possible that mote feminists are on the pill than not and tha they may have a bias against strong ( read: masculine ) men?

dp, ‘way to grow a pair!
Apparently, chemicals in our rivers and lakes have led to gender confusion in fish. Why wouldn’t chemical-taking humans also suffer from the same malady?

“Apparently, chemicals in our rivers and lakes have led to gender confusion in fish. Why wouldn’t chemical-taking humans also suffer from the same malady?”
That’s why I won’t eat any fish, unless it is from the manly North Atlantic of course.
I’ll stick to my ruggedness, thankyou. The women shall return when things get tough.
Remember, women. even today, will always choose the wealthier man.
RW @ 7:53 Thank you, that explains an awful lot.
I still can’t understand why an old piece of cowhide looks so good to most floozies…..
I think I can help you understand … floozies
Just a couple of thoughts (not my own):
– A man has only one aim in life. A woman has three, all contradictory.
– The great question which I have not been able to answer, despite my 30
years of research into the feminine soul, is “what does a woman want?”
– Sigmund Freud
Oh, and any guy that shaves his chest hair deserves what he gets…;)
Di Caprio ruined “Gangs of New York” for me. Scorcese tried to make him a tough guy, but let’s face it, that’s a stretch! Whenever he had a fight scene I just laughed and thought – why doesn’t the other guy just pick him up and drop him on his head?
Scorcese’s dead to me anyway, he signed that disgusting Polanski petition.
Larry Bennett @8:45 PM: RW’s post reminded me of a joke that ends with the punchline
“He chose the one with the biggest boobs, of course!”
That was a long time ago, though, and my memory is bad so the reference could be to women or political parties.
I have to say one thing about looking tough. I’ve coached a lot of fairly wimpy looking guys, who were the toughest SOBs you can imagine. I think the John Wayne, Sean Connery image of masculinity has been just about put to bed.
Remember the old war movies, with Lee Marvin, and John Wayne? It’s too bad real soldiers aren’t big tough guys, in their 30s, instead of teenagers who don’t need to shave every day. I was struck by the genius of the last scene in “Full Metal Jacket”. Soldiers, marching to the theme from the Mickey Mouse Club. It made a lot of people stop and remember that wars are fought by scared kids.
Actually, in my university days (late 90’s), the topic of a shift in women’s attitudes towards men and what women described as “attractive” came up in my “Business Psychology” class.
I can’t quote the name or authors of the study. But, I distinctly remember the conclusion that, “Today’s women are attracted to men who look like women or, at the very least, have effeminate features.”
And Leonardo DiCaprio was the example cited. No kidding.
During High School and University, I was not that successful with the ladies and a buddy gave me an excellant bit of advise.
“Every notice who these gals go with? They don’t have money/car and generally behave like jerks….judge those gals by the company they keep. Do you really want to associate with that?”
It is a process that seems to work….
As far as women interested in your wallet—-remember you cannot buy people—-you can only rent them……
I don’t know whether those trends are chemically induced or the result of indoctrination by media….I suspect the later—-especially with OBOZO getting the Nobel.
In the annals of unintended consequences the the introduction of the Pill takes the biscuit. Its arrival eliminated most of the traditional pressure on young women to limit the amount of premarital hanky-panky. This allowed young men to live in a land of perpetual adolescence, delayed family formation and dropped the birthrate to a level lower than what is necessary for a society to be sustainable.
It allowed Western women to foolishly try and reach the feminist utopia of, career first then family. Society ignored the fact that there are only a limited number of hours in the day and a limited number of child raising years.
Feminists may scoff at June Cleaver but from what I see, the June Cleavers of North America lived more pleasant, contented and satisfied lives than the post Pill women. If June ended up with some disappointment, it may only have been if The Beaver showed up at her nursing home packing her only grandkid in a snuggly.
Actually, in my university days (late 90’s), the topic of a shift in women’s attitudes towards men and what women described as “attractive” came up in my “Business Psychology” class.
Real mean do not respond to artificially-created supposed re-constructed evaluations of what they should be. They just keep farting along.
Accurate observations, Cal. One of the reasons “modern women” aren’t very happy is the state of their reproductive systems after sex with multiple partners, referred to by one ob-gyn as “sewers.”
The rates of STDs since women began taking the pill and were, therefore, se*ually available to a multitude of partners, has skyrocketed, and the virus, HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) which is the number-one cause of cervical cancer, is epidemic among young, se*ually active females.
Imagine the physical discomfort and the psychological stress that the June Cleavers of the world don’t have to deal with — and, then, go ahead and laugh at her.
All you DiCaprio haters, run, do not walk, to your nearest video store, and rent Blood Diamond. He may not be able to do anything about his features, but he gives a fine performance here, and appears to be anything but a “girly man”.
People – who is this “June Cleaver” of whom you speak? Why such gratuitous references to “the Beaver”?
batb – I, too, was freaked out when I came across info. on HPV rates. In fact, did you know that syphilis is making a come-back? I know, right?
But the OB/GYN you mention sounds pretty sick to me. (I went with “pretty sick” because “potential serial killer” seemed a little melodramatic.)
Leo Di Caprio is slowly but surely turning from an androgyn into Henry VIII. Never saw Blood Diamond but yes, rian @9:55, Gangs of New York would definitely have sucked less without him. Daniel Day-Lewis: Now there’s a real man!
Black Mamba: “People – who is this “June Cleaver” of whom you speak? Why such gratuitous references to ‘the Beaver'”?
Surely, you jest!!
Do you know the fifties show “Leave it to Beaver” (aka Theodore Cleaver), brother of Wally, son of June and Ward Cleaver? That’s who June is, the stay-at-home mom of Wally and “the Beav.” ‘Great stuff! You can be sure she didn’t have any STDs — and she got to read, play bridge, bake cookies, all day!
batb – I have a vague notion that she’s wholesome and was once on black-and-white TV.
And don’t call me Shirley! 🙂
Honestly, society collapsed before I started watching TV.
I blame hippies.
You surely (whoops!) had a deprived childhood, Black Mamba! No Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Howdy Doody, Pinky Lee and Molly Bee, The Mouseketeers, all in black and white?
Yikes!
Sorry, BTW. I was one of those rotten hippies … ;-(
I have reflected upon this and have come to the realisation that this is junk science….that happens when trying to analyse attitudes.
I offer as evidence, the tremendous success of anything involving Tom Selnick, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Hanks—-any of the Batman–action movies genre.
Anyone dubbing Tom Hanks a girly man missed Saving Private Ryan.
Brokeback Mountain is as relevant as Monty Python.
What’s next a theory that sex doesn’t sell???(snort).
Apropos of nothing, perhaps, I actually like Leonardo Di Caprio. He’s a credible actor (I didn’t see him in Gangs of New York, but then, that’s not my style of movie and I’m not a fan of Scorsese). I did see him in Blood Diamonds and he did a really good job. My husband and I were impressed.
IMO, not enough real women or real men — that is real parents — bringing kids up today. Too much substitute care, too many fatherless and motherless homes.
Kids need BOTH parents to develop into healthy, mature adults. We’ve got a whole bunch of sexually confused kids growing up to be sexually unhealthy and dysfunctional adults because of the deficits in their home lives.
But, this isn’t a discussion we’re “allowed” to have in Canada. ‘Might hurt the adults’ (sic) feelings.
Duh.
