Note the dramatic rewrite of this Canadian Press “news” item. I created this post a few hours ago and scheduled it for publication this afternoon (as I often do). When I rechecked the link, it seemed to me that the content of the article had changed considerably.
It has.
The 10:00am version is still up at the Globe and Mail, the 3:45pm “update” at CTV is a completely different article from the CTV readers were responding to.
The original opinion piece posing as a news item, “No hugs for Harper” vs the editorially cleansed “Harper sees daughter off with one-armed squeeze”
And they say bloggers can’t be trusted?

Well that story didn’t seem to work the way they had hoped.
The other breaking “story” for today is how Harper supposedly plagiarized parts of John Howard’s speech on the Iraq war no less than five years ago.
Bob Rae is trying to spin this into a smear about how Harper is just like Dubya.
Does anyone in the MSM even think to ask the Liberals if dredging up a non-event like this is a sure sign of how panic-stricken they are about losing this election and losing it badly?
Story will be gone by Thursday….unless of course Steffi is setting up his attack line for the debate.
Liberals whole goal is to get Mean Steve to show up.
CTV(tass) is trying to steal the lieberal crown from CBCpravda
Judging by what the MSM and their LPC allies are putting out for news these days, it seems that the goal for the LPC is not to win the election, or even try very hard to win it, but rather to avoid losing an embarrassing number of seats or even Official Opposition status.
Hence all the mud-slinging at Harper. Nothing positive to their message at all. Not at all what it takes to win.
What a bunch of pathetic losers.
I read the comments on the CTV site for the Rae accusation of plagarism. They were along the same lines as these comments.
Libs must be really ticked if CTV comments are leaning this way.If they can’t use the MSM to sway the voters they are doomed.
Tra la, and so long!
Dig up some of Rae’s “accomplishments” from his Premier days would be a scary story eh?
I think that CTV has crossed the line by using a clip of Stephen Harper walking his daughter to school while smearing him on the Liberal charge of plagerism. Even in the USA the media keep Obama’s kids out of the story.Supposedly our MSM is not as nasty! Canadians need to let CTV know that they will not tolerate them smearing little girls. This whole clip was beyond disgust. Who is running CTV news . net???
Mary Walsh ia an unfunny socialist CBC parasite whos sole survival is based on Government handouts. If she had any real talent she would have had offers from US television to make real money,I have never found her or her Pinko pals like Rick Mercer even the least bit humourous.Harper did the right thing cutting the Arts funding ,If a person has genuine talent people will pay to see the artwork,or play or to listen to the music they produce,it is not our job as taxpayers to support the arts community.Stephen Harper is always going to lose with the left wing media ,no matter what he does, let us hope for a consevative majority.

sorry i got an error message and i posted again and they both went through ,my apologies

BDBC President dismissal
RAE days
let’s get it on
only 14 days to go
let’s send him to children wife and canadian primeminster counseling classes avaiable in canda
he may show some emotion there
I do not think Harper has time for family
and plus if some one do not show it it does not mean do nto have it some people only are not emotional people
which is fine with me but if he is too cold is no good need counslig and see some pscychotric treatment before it is too late how to communate well and talk with group of medea nad communicater and jounlist spcialist and lawyers before he does that too for his security and privacy
what is matter is care about them
but that is reason of lack communication with peoel since he is tno talk to his family too he need to get train to talk more from home
next peope who like hocky are like fighting heart too for puch face in hockygame but in real life look kind
if you show always one face with not emotiion at all is is frezze heart too not good at all if you are lack of it
that is reason he is not show emotion to child youth crime since he does not know the kid whiie he mayfilm with them
As I describe Harper culture is similar like German and Kosovo kind of men Europen not American orCandian kind of men kind of strange too
one thing can certainly be assured, no one is going to plagerize a Borat Dion speech. other than Sacha Baron Cohen himself.
What’s that smell?
Bob Rae’s nekkid backside ?
No, no its worse than that, it is fear. Fear so richly deserved. Fear they are losing and running out of time.
Fear that makes them resort to the old Liberal Party tactic – the Drive By Smear.
It has worked in the past, but not this time.
dennis writes: “The other breaking “story” for today is how Harper supposedly plagiarized parts of John Howard’s speech on the Iraq war no less than five years ago.”
This is the sort of issue one might well expect to arise on Liberal blogs; for it to be raised to the level of a campaign issue by Rae and Dion does indeed smack of desperation. Funny that they never brought it up over the past five years, no?
In days long past, I did some political speech writing; still a student, I never thought about plagiarising someone else’s words, but, if I had, I’m pretty confident that the speech would have been delivered without either the candidate or his immediate staff ever checking or ever knowing. In this case, Harper’s speech writer admitted to his sin, and resigned over it, as he should have done.
The case, as far as we know so far, differs from the similar charge against Joe Biden having plagiarised a speech from British Labour leader Neil Kinnock. Apparently, Biden heard or read the speech, liked it, and appropriated it, but he went further, appropriating Kinnock’s life story as his own, becoming not just a plagiarist, but a Walter-Mitty fantasist.
But back to Harper; if this is the best shot the Liberals and the CBC have 2 weeks before election day, it suggests, even better than the “Vote, Geoff” signs, the bankruptcy of Dion’s campaign.
John Howard was worthy of quoting and even ripping off.
It’s the Canadian Press arm of the Liberal Party at it again. They are absolutely shameless.
I wonder if they are claiming the CP budget as a political contribution.
This story is so old it’s got mildew growing on it.
During the last election campaign it was brought to my attention from a Leftie co-worker about how Harper “shook hands” with his son when dropping him off at school. I replied to her that most normal kids of that age don’t want Mom or Dad kissing them as it embarasses them in front of the other kids. A perfectly normal reaction that Harper respects.
This kind of crap just shows how vulgar and insensitive the MSM and their favorite political parties are.
Oh, yeah.
Well, Bob Rae plagarizes Karl Marx.
The Grope and Fail had an article on whether Laureen Harper was hot or not. I said she was hot and told the story of when she went on the 30km charity walk for Breast Cancer and when they were camping out in a park the PM was hot for bringing the kids to say goodnight. The comments were not supposed to be moderated but mine never showed up. I love playing with these guys. They catch you and monitor for a while so you’re good and then you kick their arse on logic and they don’t get to it too quick.
Beat your wife yet today, mos?
Ridiculous anti-Harper culture ad on Youtube. Ham fisted is an understatement. Picture of Harper with an American flag behind him. Poor Quebec artiste has to face an English speaking and very mean spirited tribunal:

a “bespeckled Harper”….????
whatever it is i hope it’s contagious !
If Stephane Dion had plagiarized the speech of the French President, then, regardless of how many years ago it was, most of you would be up in arms against it.
Oh the hypocrisy.
Go on. Deny it.
If the LIberals had ANY ideas or credibility they would be winning this election.
Go on deny it!
stupid eh.
Winker, Mr Harper didn’t plagiarize anything. His speech writer has admitted he did it, without knowledge of anybody, and resigned. Get your facts straight.
This refers to speech before even last election, let alone this one.
Mr Dion continues to say “Harper plagarized” in spite of the speechwriter who in fact did so and admitting such and resigned.
“Harper plagarized,” Dion continues to say.
Since Dion himself escaped the lawsuit filed by Harper in the Cadman affair, suggesting “Harper knew of a bribe”, this could be Harper’s chance to include him as well.
But Harper will cruise to victory, so why bother?
And the Lib’s are sending out frantic e-maols begging for donations.Duff has mentioned this the last few days..they are BROKE flatter than pi*s on a plate,so I guess this is all the negative ‘ads’ they can afford.
Will Liberal Dion now admit he plagiarized Suzuki? Will Liberal Dion resign now?

“Jonathan Kay: Great take by Janke — who is Stéphane Dion to lecture others about plagiarism?
A great post by Steve Janke at Angry in the Great White North:
Plagiarism happens when one person uses the work of another in order to present himself as an expert in a field, when really only the original author can make that claim. This is far more serious because it misleads people. That seemed to be the situation in 2006 when Liberal Party leadership contender Stephane Dion passed off work down by the David Suzuki Foundation on climate change in Dion’s own environmental platform without giving credit:
Liberal leadership candidate Stephane Dion’s campaign hastily changed part of the candidate’s environmental platform as posted on his Web site today after a blog reported that part of it were almost identical copies – without attribution – of a David Suzuki Foundation paper published the previous week. Mr. Dion plans to formally unveil his $10-billion energy and climate change plan later today, but he has already been trumpeting his “Clean Air Plan” since Sept. 1 on his Web site. The plan carries striking similarities to a paper published one week earlier on Aug. 25 by the David Suzuki Foundation, entitled “The Air We Breath.” Yet, prior to this morning, Mr. Dion’s paper was not crediting the Suzuki Foundation as a source for the plan. After the issue was raised by the bloggers, a small footnote was put on the Web site to say that the Suzuki report was one of the sources for the Dion platform.”

Puddin and pie — you forgot the long gun registry. Bring it on, indeed.
Reading this and seeing the other antics and bias of the media both north and south of the 49th is giving me visions of heads on pikes…

Can I ask you something winker. If Dion did plagiarized a speech. How in hell would we know. When he talks nobody can understand him in english or french.
I take lot at data one more time today I saw
this information is not clear for me:
to find out why Harper rush this election so fast now
he still have time for another one year at least for this election
I found this date i am not sure I get it yet:!!
Between Jan 23, 2006 his firsr election and secon one whidch is Oct 14, 2008 for reelection , we have left with 2 years and 8 month so far,
other president they start this except of Paul Martin that they go for about 3 years and 7 month to do this reelection to go while Stephen Harper wnet alomst one year elarier for this election
he may not have confidence if he stay longer he may win next year though or why he rush this election though so far
before final Usa Election by Nov 2008 with reduce risk of if Republican may lost he is safe still
second reason is he must wait at least 3 years and 7 month before new Reelection again like
Jean Chrétien is 3 years and 7 month and also
Brian Mulroney is 4 years and 1 month and also
Pierre Trudeau is 3 years and 6 months to reelected again
it proof he is doing a job 11 month ealrie than the time he susppose to do relection again now for another 3 to 4 years at least 3. 5 years more time for Harper to go now.
he may not have good selfconfifence to have later election within a year if Decmorate take the poistion Harpe not trust future what may happend!
3) he may think he know now more can change and finihs his job better or he may thinks it is better befoe pepel know more about his past let get finish with this election now before USA election can be finished

then take care of other country to help them and give tax from belwo 200,000 cut and do not cut from top peopel rich and deistribute better tax and better freedom of speech and better minster please thanks I still do not care who is coming yet
Rae and Dion take exception to Harper giving a speech prepared by a speechwriter who took material from another speechwriter talking to Parliament about the same political events echoing the same political position, and they call it “plagiarism”, and the speechwriter does the honourable thing and falls on his sword.
Dion steals the name of a Canadian firm, appropriates it for the Liberal Party’s personal use, smears it across the land and refuses to give it back, and has to be sued for its recovery. Somebody has their ethics confused…

Perhaps you should have read this, fay.
From the CTV website story: Harper spokesman Kory Teneycke characterized Tuesday’s send-off — which was set up in advance by the Prime Minister’s Office — as “a loving father taking his daughter to school, something he does frequently.”
It was a photo opportunity set up by the Conservative publicity team for the media.
winker at September 30, 2008 6:16 PM
me thinks you accidently miss-keyed, and put a “I” were an “A” should be in your moniker
Exactly right, skip.
How about the Liberal Party’s plagiarism of a copyrighted name – GREEN SHIFT? How about them calling up the copyright owner of the name and heh, heh, telling them that the Owner might be getting a lot of attention soon..because The Liberals have taken the name? Hmm?
How about Chretien and Dion lifting the Clarity Act idea from Manning and Harper, who first proposed it?
How about the Liberal Party stealing from the Canadian taxpayer to fund their election campaign in Quebec?
For pete’s sake mos stop running all of your comments through Google Translator two or three times before you submit them.
Speaking of re-writes, Mark Collins over at Daimnation has posted a excerpt from the CBC that apparently has been re-written.
The key sentence is Dion’s mistake in thinking that Harper copied George Bush rather than John Howard:
However, Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion later called for Harper to be expelled from the House of Commons over the affair, in which he said Harper “plagiarized George W. Bush [emphasis added] about the Iraq war” in a telling way…
That sentence no longer appears in the re-written story, but thankfully Google and the CBC’s philosophical twin, communist China’s Xinhua have the original.
It is the last hurrah for the liberals, pretending they have morals. No one gives a shit about that speech. I just know Harper got a real good one saved up to crush them completely. The liberals might get the undecided white trash socialist votes with their last little trick, but most Canadians have made up their minds it is going to be a Harper majority. What the left is doing now is just noise, and everyone knows it. It is going to be so interesting watching taliban Jack as the leader of the oppostion. The tories will eat that little wimp alive. They’ll do him like a dion.
I try to conclude few things short as I said in my earlier comments:
Harper take 2 and 8 month while he could stay and work for about 3.8 month like other Pm in Canada and learn more or prospond election later even he already put some agenda on the table for get peopel start voting later
unless PM proof the number of vote so far is
close to 33 million canda nto only based on
10 million vote and the rest of Canadain has not clue what is going on in the country East go with Liber and West go to conservative or so more or less then that is not realy fair for Candain to know each vote count but is really politicna care to let all majority of candain participate and they do work harder to get final work finish by 11 more month to go I do not think so
Harper it would better to finish another year to go before jump to this election
but he could start election now but end it 11 month from now like USA elction take longer than
a year to finish
pratically all election started and collect the vote it was better to get prospond for lack not time frame and done earlier than time
and Harper has enough time to do more research and up to date what he did in past and come back within a year to see who can continue he or otehr person
he did not made good choice to do this election prmature
he needs at least 3.7 month experince and know more and get more advice to run good and better
here
he can not rush the country and rush the election and he also did put himself to more hit but he also can learn more about it now
unless the problmes is came up and NEED to early relection in conclusion is past history PM need time to know country and know detail and prolmes to fix it and you can not say Hello today and good buy two years with not significant fault unless there is something I do not know about it
=========
do not clap do not say ‘yes sir” without knowing what you are doing
for anybody
Majority of mid class group is to take or fall in love of charter to know why they calping for him or her and not facing issue and reality of facts behind all controversay and ignore all small probls untill they hit them big to their face
====
the time I figure out what is going out the election may finish and it is too late
this is not correct and not benefit political parties to do this rush election
there is more homework must done by them before final election
“as I said in my earlier comments”
The mask is slipping, mos.

The utter immorality of certain journalists has become so distant from the normal Man . They now have to resort to re-writes of their own slanders.
OTTAWA — Stephen Harper walked his nine-year-old daughter Rachel to school Tuesday in a carefully scripted photo-op designed to bolster his new warm and fuzzy image.
So, the CTV’s editorial board’s Nuance Consultant either left them or has a drinking problem, whichever, even the degenerates at the NYT’s would have caught themselves before allowing a lead sentence like that one.
Harper needs to craft an indignant f….off response, I think the Canadian public would support that.
Mos, your logic is more convoluted than my albatross wife…
As for Rae, when you plant Sh*t seeds, you get Sh*t weeds….
(I just like including a Mr Lahey Sh*t anology, sorry)
“Harper sees daughter off with one-armed squeeze”
He was attacked by MSM for not responding… early in the morning, taking his daughter to school. Incredible.
One has to wonder how the reports would have been filed had he responded.
It probably would’ve went something like this…
“Harper, walking his daughter to school, chose to abandon her midstream, reinforcing the critics’ claim that he’s cold and unsensitive, in order to respond to yet another Tory gaffe and to answer the question of why his campign seems to be in serious trouble.”
Forget the hug and kiss crap. Harper needs to fist-bump his kids if he wants to get the media’s stamp of approval.
Re: Plagerism slur — I think that the latest Liberal attacks on Harper are very revealing. I have not noticed the Conservatives degenerating into issuing this kind of personal attack. I have always noticed that people who tend to accuse other people of lying, cheating, stealing, plagerizing, etc. are often guilty of this kind of thing themselves. Honest people tend to give others the benefit of the doubt. And in politics, more honest people prefer to keep the slurs relevant to the issues and avoid this kind of character assassination. I think that the Liberals are beginning to look like thugs, and I suspect that many Canadians find this type of low blow off-putting.
Now if only the voters in Toronto would come to their senses and dump Ignatieff and Rae. In the real world beyond Toronto, where people know crap, that would be their fate. Rae is so damned smug and cock-sure of himself he deserves an slapdown.
Iggy might actually have a fight on his hands to hold his seat according to some reports.
All we can do is hope the people are paying attention and understand the games being played by the Liberals, aided and abetted by the media.
Any party talking about past history instead of the real issues and policy is not worth voting for.
